View Full Details of The GrangeI needed to move my dad to a care home recently after he became unable to live alone, and The Grange couldn't have been a better choice for him to spend his final year. The Grange feels like a real home and I always loved visiting. The building is well maintained and the grounds are lovely, especially the sun terrace overlooking the gardens. I wasn't sure he would enjoy the activities but it turned out he loved to take part, he especially enjoyed visits from animals and trips to the local cafe and was kept very busy. The staff are lovely and many seem to have been there a long time so know all the residents and their needs really well. Thank you so much to The Grange and all the staff for looking after my dad so well and making the most of his last year.
My aunt appears to be happy at The Grange. I visit her around 3 times a week having given advance notice of my visit. Generally, she is ready, and if I have said that I will take her out she is already in a wheelchair, but occasionally the message does not get through and there is a bit of a last-minute rush to get her ready which can be stressful for her. The staff always appear to be kind to the residents, though occasionally we have to remind them that my aunt is able to get herself up and standing on her own otherwise they try to help her which gets her into a panic. My aunt is always in clean clothes and her room is clean. When we request something specific (e.g. sessions with a physio, an extra eye test, friends coming to visit her, etc) they are always very helpful and obliging. The staff often have time to sit and just chat with the residents in the main lounge.
My experience of my mother's care has been generally very good. She has always been encouraged to participate in activities despite her declining health and I have been heartened by the friends she has made who, with all the help from the kind carers, have made her stay there generally very comfortable and supportive. Although I miss her greatly, it has been comforting to know she is being well looked after at The Grange.
My aunt has been at The Grange for a number of years and is very happy and content. The care she receives is exceptional and the staff always have her very best interests at heart, keeping us up to date and informed of any issues. Whenever we visit, the home has been warm, clean and tidy, allowing the residents to move about freely.
The Staff are kind and considerate. The managers are competent and aware of the complex needs of residents. Visiting can be done at any time and it is welcomed, which makes it easy to pop in regularly.
Fantastic staff working with my parents and the family to help everyone enjoy life despite what life throws at you. Excellent communication, flexible with my parents at the centre of everything. The facilities are excellent and my folks love the location, garden and access around the whole facility. Care is excellent and food, general catering from the top draw. Minibus adds the trips that folks enjoy. Thanks.
I have always found that the care and attention given to my friend has been of the highest order. The home helped us greatly when dealing with Social Services. They treat my friend with care, courtesy and professionalism at all times.
My father has been a resident at The Grange for just over 3 months now. It is just utterly wonderful! The staff are incredible, his room is divine, and the grounds are delightful. He is super comfortable, extremely well cared for and the team are always happy whilst in his company. He loves the food and will always tell me what he's had to eat, he's particularly fond of the desserts. The team always lets me know if and when he needs anything and will always have a chit-chat with me when I arrive. Oh, and they will always pass on any messages to him from me. He's had a trying couple of years since the passing of his wife and his own health issues but he's now comfortable, content and putting on weight. I honestly can't praise them enough. Thank you all so much!
Our family are so very grateful to The Grange. I have already reviewed this marvellous care home, and the care and compassion still never ceases to amaze me. It's been so delightful that this summer The Grange purchased a minibus for the residents to have outings and this has been fantastic, enabling the residents to remain connected with the beautiful surroundings that the home enjoys.
Allaround care and attention paid to residents and visitors. The activities programme is enriching and empowering, but most of all, fun. The idea of growing veg and herbs is brilliant, as many residents have a long history working in their own gardens.
The Grange is a lovely building set in very nice gardens. Mum who is now nearly 98 years old, has llived at The Grange for over 5 years. She continues to receive good care and attention from the home manager and all her staff, and still manages to take part in some activities, for which we are grateful.
My grandparents have been residents at The Grange for over 6 years now, following a recommendation from a family friend. We couldn’t be happier with the care and attention they’ve had since moving in. We initially chose The Grange as it was one of the only homes locally we could find where they could continue to share a room together (every other care home offered two single rooms). It’s a beautiful old building so has some gorgeous large rooms. The former manager was really helpful and we met the current manager when we viewed the sister home Lyndhurst back in 2017/18. Wouldn’t have any hesitation recommending The Grange ourselves now, a big thank you to the wonderful care team.
My mother moved to the Grange about three years ago after it became clear that she could not continue living at home. She chose the Grange initially for the large garden leading down to the river. However, we were nervous about how she would settle into a care home and what the standard of care would be like. We shouldn't have been. The staff at the Grange have cared for her wonderfully. Led by the manager, they have looked after her every need, which has become far more difficult as her health has deteriorated. During the pandemic, they have gone to great lengths to successfully keep the virus out of the home. If the essence of every care home is the staff, the Grange could not be any better. As a family, we are very grateful.
My mother has been a resident of The Grange for a number of years. The home has always made her feel welcome and wanted, caring for her wellbeing at all times of day and night. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Their care and attention has undoubtedly prolonged her time with us. The health and hygiene of residents is a primary objective here and their food is excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone considering residential care for their loved one.
Wonderful location with caring staff who work so hard to keep all the residents involved in various activities. My mother settled well and is looked after and content, she has pretty advanced dementia.
My father moved to The Grange in December 2019, at the grand age of 96. He had some dementia, and his mobility was extremely poor. The staff at The Grange supported his needs with great care, kindness and respect - they are a fantastic team. A special mention and thank you to two members of staff who were very accommodating and supportive when Dad was reaching the end of his long life earlier this month. The Grange is a large mansion set in beautiful grounds, the passageways are wide so there is plenty of room for wheelchairs which my father needed, and the lounge and restaurant are spacious allowing everyone to spread out as wished. In normal times the staff are very happy to accept visitors dropping in to see relatives as I did on many occasions. The Grange have taken a very responsible pro-active response to Covid-19, locking down early and doing everything they can to prevent this terrible disease. We are very grateful for the excellent care Dad received while at The Grange.
The Grange is a lovely home. I feel my mother is safe and very well cared for. She had doubts and fears about going into care, but she soon settled in thanks to the kind and friendly staff. The setting is glorious, the garden superbly maintained, and the food good. Her room is spacious and always kept clean. The management team is always looking to make improvements and they are not afraid to spend money on new equipment and furniture. They are flexible and willing to consider individual needs. The activities are varied and well organised by a wonderful member of staff who works with energy, enthusiasm and a constant willingness to go the extra mile. I think there is little that could be improved. My mother occasionally moans about laundry taking a long time to get back to her, but they are doing their best with a lot of clothes! And if some staff are off sick they may be a bit stretched at times, but they do bring in staff from their other home or from an agency if needed.
My mother moved to The Grange aged 91 and was well looked after during her 8 years there. Even in her latter months after dementia had set in and she was immobile and required nursing care, the manager and her team did a great job. Whenever we visited the rooms were clean and staff knew about her situation. Above all she was happy. They even took the time to attend her funeral.
My father stayed in The Grange in May / June 2018, initially on respite but ended up staying longer than expected. The Grange is a truly beautiful location, and having recently been looking at nursing homes (my Dad now needs a nursing home rather than residential) I can honestly say that I have not found anywhere as friendly and welcoming. The staff always seem contented and this, I am sure, makes a difference to the resident's everyday life. If you are looking for somewhere and you don't need specialist dementia or nursing support I would definitely recommend looking at The Grange. The food also seemed pretty good and we were always offered a drink when we visited and made to feel at home. The patio outside feels like sitting in a hotel garden and all the tubs are kept tip top.
My nan is thoroughly enjoying her stay. The grounds and facilities are excellent and the staff could not do more to help. She has been made to feel very welcome by all of the staff. The quality of care given by the staff is outstanding and they are incredibly attentive. There is a wide range of activities going on every day, which my nan is able to take part in if she wishes. Her room is brilliant and is very large and clean. Moving into this care home has been the best decision my nan has made!
