View Full Details of The RidingsWe were familiar with this Care Home for another relative, and so chose it for my parents based on previous experience. I feel that when I approached them again the manager was friendly, reassuring about the process, very helpful and very flexible about a start date for care ie in the New Year, so held the rooms for me. On arrival, we were met and welcomed. A little left to our own devices perhaps, but maybe this helped with a no fuss, smooth transition. I have been proactive about seeking info, passing on info and general finding out about systems etc, but everyone I have sought help from has promptly responded. I had a query about my parents being encouraged to join in a bit more and feel this will be addressed. I have at this point great confidence in the three-way relationship I hope to develop with the home., myself and my parents. PS It's too early to comment on activities, and value for money with homes - this kind of care is just genuinely expensive, so not a criticism here!
From my very first visit to The Ridings, I have been very impressed by the friendliness of the staff. Although I haven't seen them, the meals sound very appetising.
The Ridings is a lovely place for my sister to live. She has mental health issues which make it impossible for her to live on her own and the staff are wonderful at handling her, particularly when she gets stressed. It is a great relief for her family to have her so well cared for, and for her to have her own flat, not just a room. Her main carer is amazing.
In the few months of my mother moving into The Ridings full-time, we have been very happy with her care. She seems very happy and stimulated. This comes a some relief to us. She really enjoys all the activities and trips out. The staff are always helpful, friendly and professional at all times.
The level of care here is super and we would recommend it to anyone.
The Ridings is like a homely and friendly guest house and is always full of chattering and activity. Mum absolutely loves it here and we have complete peace of mind that Mum is safe, warm and happy.
My father-in-law was a resident of The Ridings for over seven years. He sadly passed away earlier this month, after a short illness. Throughout the seven+ years that he lived at The Ridings, it was truly his home, and I have seen many positive sides of the caring and supportive environment it offers. For much of the time he was active and fit, and the staff helped him to sustain his independence. Then as he became more unwell, the support he needed and received gradually stepped up. In his last months, there was terrific communication on what was happening and some great coordination with the local doctor’s surgery. He was made really comfortable. Throughout his stay, the staff have been amazing. Always attentive and supportive, welcoming visitors, doing their best to keep all the residents safe, happy and occupied. There is an inclusive and responsive feel to the home. My father-in-law thoroughly enjoyed the conversations and the companionship. He was thoroughly well cared for.
I accompanied my friend when she moved into The Ridings. She received a warm welcome and was looked after very well by a member of staff who really helped her feel at home. I was invited to stay for lunch which was delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. After I left, my friend said that a carer came and helped her unpack and get things straight in her flat which she very much appreciated. From her flat, she has a good view of the lovely residents' garden which is clearly used by the residents in warmer weather. I have visited twice since my friend moved in and continued to be impressed with very friendly and helpful staff. If you are looking for a care home for a loved one, I would certainly recommend you visit The Ridings!
The staff are all very tentative towards Mum and her needs. She has a routine, that the staff keeps too without asking.
My father has lived at The Ridings for 18 months. We are very lucky to have found such a caring home. Dad has Alzheimer's and has deteriorated over time. He now rarely participates in the varied activities that the home provides and organises. I enjoy the regular Facebook posts, and sometimes I'm lucky to spot Dad, mostly when the lovely dog Gillie comes! In the past, he really enjoyed the painting sessions. The home finds any excuse for the residents to make decorations - Christmas, Easter, Diwali, Remembrance Day, Saints Days, Valentine's, the Coronation, the World Cup, etc, and there's always a party or special themed meal to go with the occasion. Every resident has their birthday marked with a lovely cake and candles. When Dad was more able, Yogita would organise Facetime chats for me with him. I am kept fully informed of issues around Dad's care or health. The home is always clean - common areas and Dad's apartment. The staff are friendly and know all the residents by name. Excellent!
My father has been living at The Ridings for 20 months now and is very settled and feels safe and relaxed despite having Dementia. There is a very happy environment and all of the staff are friendly and supportive of both my father and his family. We are informed of any issues immediately and are kept updated. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Ridings and I think all the staff do an excellent job in what can sometimes be challenging situations. Well done to all at The Ridings.
Mum arrived at the Ridings with advanced Alzheimer's and vascular dementia in 2021. It has been a roller-coaster ride for us which we feel the staff have tried as best as possible to support us with. There has been a big changeover of management and staff since mum arrived but this has not been to the detriment of mum's care. Mum is an extremely determined lady who does not make it easy for staff to always do their best! However, she settled in and now says she feels safe and happy there, which is our primary concern. She particularly enjoys the animal visits - pet therapy and the zoo visitors. Thank you to everyone for all your support.
After serious health complications, I needed to find a care home for my mum. It was an overwhelming time and a huge responsibility but as soon as I viewed The Ridings I knew it was the right place for her. All the staff are friendly, welcoming and supportive of both my mum and her family. We were able to make her flat a 'home from home' for her with her own furniture and belongings. The Ridings is very clean, well-maintained and cheerful. There are activities daily which my mum enjoys joining in to keep her physically and mentally active. The food is extremely good. As a family, we are always made to feel very welcome and are informed of any issues immediately. We know that she is being cared for exceptionally well and treated with the dignity that she deserves.
Efficient and caring staff in a modern environment. Food is plentiful and of a high standard. Plentiful activities with dedicated staff members. Could not expect better for the welfare of my mother.
My mother went to the Ridings for three weeks respite care. Whilst there she was looked after exceedingly well by friendly helpful staff. With activities to do every day and a lovely big, well-appointed room she couldn't have done better in a 5-star hotel.
I have volunteered at The Rigings every week for the last seven years. We visit the residents via pets as therapy. We are always made to feel very welcome. The staff are very kind and thoughtful. There is always a very happy environment and the residents seem very relaxed and happy. The Ridings is a very happy home that we are pleased to visit every week.
Absolute living nightmare. After bringing up genuine safety/care concerns regarding my mother and a few personal issues within the care home that prevented my mother and I from going out for our planned lunch. Sadly none of our concerns or issues were addressed in a polite, professional compassionate or respectful manner. Instead, the care home manager stopped me coming in to visit my mother for a total of 30 days. I could only take mother out in her wheelchair. This stole 30 days of our lives. I am my mother's daughter and her main carer for nine years. I don't know how this care home manager can sleep at night after making such a cruel decision.
The team at The Ridings responded very quickly to a need for my father to find a care home when his health suddenly deteriorated. The staff have been excellent in supporting him to settle in quickly and responding as he has required increased help with personal care. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Ridings to anyone in need of the support a care home provides to an elderly person.
Our mum was given a lovely warm welcome when she moved to The Ridings four months ago. She has settled in really well thanks to all the dedicated staff who have helped her to continue to live as independently as she wishes. Mum's room is very homely as she's been able to bring many of her personal belongings from her bungalow. She is thriving from the social interaction, particularly during the lovely homely mealtimes and the activities. She particularly enjoys spending time in The Ridings' lovely garden, gardening being one of her favourite pastimes. We really appreciate the professional, personal and attentive care and support all the staff give to our family consistently. Nothing is any trouble. We are so glad we chose The Ridings for our mum to move to when she realised her bungalow up north was becoming too much for her and she wanted to be nearer family.
I have been a resident for three months, it is a pleasant home. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there are plenty of activities if required.
