Appleby has given my aunt a new lease of life. Throughout her life my aunt had always been very busy, always planning the next thing, and at Appleby, she has been enabled to become that person again. Wellbeing at Appleby is every bit as important as physical health, I love logging in to the app and seeing yet another picture of my aunt smiling (and sometimes dancing) while she is in the art room or the allotment or in with the toddler's play session, or just having a chat and a cuppa. Visiting in person is lovely too, I am met with smiles and warmth, it is a very happy place to be and is the perfect fit for my aunt.
My relative has only been a resident for a few months and was reluctant to move from the family home but has settled in so well. We can't praise the staff enough for their kindness, compassion and most importantly laughter. We have one happy man that's for sure! The home is welcoming, friendly and always has activities going on. As a family we have been made to feel part of the place and we don't just go to see Dad - we go to see the staff too! Really is a home-from-home.
Such a lovely environment and fantastically caring staff. My mother is a temporary resident for 6 weeks respite care, but nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The facilities are top-notch too with a lovely bedroom and the common areas are just the right size. It is a large residential home, but the way it is organised into separate units stops the size being overwhelming. Mum is treated with dignity at all times and kept engaged with many activities. All in all I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Appleby House to anyone.
Although an old building it radiates a comforting aura. The staff are always polite, helpful and from what I have observed over three months, patient and caring. Cleanliness is high, visitors welcome, and the staff have to work with the relatives as well as the residents during a very trying and emotional period.
Appleby House is a wonderful care home, knowing that my dad is in a safe environment has taken the worry out of our lives. The staff are always very friendly and the support and care my dad is given is exceptional. A big thanks to all the staff!
The staff at Appleby House have been amazing to my mum. Engaging her in various activities and making her feel cared for and welcome. One member of staff has taken her various times to her church coffee morning allowing my mum to reconnect with friends. Her general overall health and well-being have improved since being there.
Appleby House is the most amazing place. My mum just arrived for respite care (I hope and pray she can stay there). She has settled so well and it is such a caring and happy environment. I have visited a number of care homes and Appleby is by far the very best I have encountered. All the carers go out of their way to make all the residents feel happy and reassured. It is an extremely encouraging and supportive environment and the care that I have witnessed being given to each and every resident is unbelievable. One staff member is absolutely fantastic and efficient; her and the carers wanted to know about Mum's life history which is so important and they take the time to listen. I understand that Appleby has received an 'outstanding' report and I can understand why. Nothing is too much trouble. My mum is being encouraged to take part in all the activities and the carers are so incredibly caring and kind to her. I cannot recommend Appleby House highly enough. What a fantastic place! Thank you.
Exceptional care for my mother. All staff work together with the residents to create a very friendly and caring environment, including visitors. It is a very clean and cheerful home with plenty of activities and stimulation. Her room is always immaculate and cosy. Well done to all at Appleby House!
Appleby House staff have been my saviour and given me my life back. My wonderful father diagnosed with mixed dementia had a rapid decline after two stays in hospital, I was very reluctant to put him in a home, but realised the decision was out of my hands, I needed him safe. And safe, loved and cared for he is. The staff are totally amazing with Dad, watching him constantly, and making sure he is comfortable, clean, feed and hydrated. Slowly introducing him to activities.. they check he doesn’t have UTI’s as he has a catheter, sort out all his medical needs which takes away the pressure from myself. Appleby is his new home and when he is lucid through his confusion he knows and feels safe and happy. I know he also loves the staff, especially flirting with the women . He has a sparkle again and that’s lovely to see.. Thank you everyone at Appleby
I can't thank the staff for the care they have given to my mum since her arrival in 2023. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. Mum has been through a difficult time and Mum's carers have really got her back on track right down to organising her hospital appointments, which the previous home had failed to do. If I could give my own and my mum's experience at Appleby more than a 10/10 I would! Highly recommended.
Since my mum's admission to Appleby House Care Home she has thrived, especially in her appearance and apart from her behaviour associated with her dementia and not understanding why she is there, she seems quite happy. Her room is currently en-suite and is well maintained. I think the home should invest in proper drinks machines though as the choice of drinks for residents and their visitors is basic and old fashioned.
The immaculate care the workers have given my father has been amazing. It has made the transition into the home so comfortable for him, which is something our family will be forever grateful for. Many thanks.
Appleby is excellent in every way possible. The care given to residents is outstanding, with every aspect of their care having been considered and catered for. The staff are professional, approachable, friendly and supportive with both residents and their wider families. Everyone is treated with kindness and compassion. You can see how effectively the staff work as a team, and how supportive they are of each other and of the ethos that makes Appleby a very well-managed and joyful environment. The entertainment team are creative, imaginative, fun and full of energy. They frequently run activities that involve the local community and the families of residents, and this makes very happy new experiences and memories for all involved, which is so important.
It gives my husband and me great peace of mind to know that my mother-in-law is being looked after by carers who genuinely care. Also, the fact that if we do have any issues there is always a manager willing to talk to us.
Always very pleased with the services when we visit my father. There are lots of great activities that the home organises, and everyone is always very friendly. I know my father is in very good hands.
I am amazed at how quickly my father has settled into this residential home. I can see the wonderful support and care he is given. He feels safe in his environment with the staff and that is very heart-warming and comforting for me to see. What has amazed me the most are the fantastic activities he has been taking part in that are so well thought out and planned. He is doing more now then he has ever done! A wonderful place for my father to call home. Thank you.
I am so very grateful to the staff and all the carers of this residential home who are taking such good care of my husband. I was diagnosed with cancer and, therefore, could no longer care for my husband who has Alzheimer's dementia. The staff are all genuinely caring, loving and protective of both the residents and their relatives. I am so very grateful.
I had been looking after my wife for five years and after a period in hospital, I realised that this was no longer possible and I had a mental breakdown. Then, the Surrey County Council found a place for her at Appleby House. The feeling we both got when we first visited Appleby, was one of open arms and great warmth. I suddenly realised that the staff would not only look well after my wife but that I would be set free at the same time, giving me a new life. I have visited my wife daily for many months and at different times and therefore have a good insight into how my wife and other residents are treated. I have only the greatest admiration and respect for how Appleby House is run and how the staff truly cares for their charges. I have really nothing but praise. My wife has recovered her appetite, looks well and is always having fun with visitors and staff. She seems younger than some years ago and I love seeing her so happy every time I am with her.
My 96-year-old mother-in-law is very happy living at Appleby House. The staff are wonderful and caring and look after their charges as if they were their own family. Since she’s lived there, we have every confidence that she is very well cared for and all the stress of worrying about her living on her own has gone. She loves the food and the fact that all her meals are served and cleared away without her having to lift a finger. She really enjoys all the varied activities that are laid on for everyone especially when the children from the school next door are involved. We were very lucky to find her a room at Appleby House when it became obvious that living on her own was not a valid option.
l visit my friend and neighbour, l visit mainly after lunch, she looks so calm and is always delighted to see me, although she does not remember who l am, she always looks lovely, especially her hair, it is plaited and with a bow, a very personal touch. She is calm and content and the attention to the extra personal care she receives is excellent. I am personally delighted to spend time at Appleby Care Home, all of the staff are exceptional. I am always greeted with a smile from your staff and am offered tea and a slice of delicious cake too. I have recommended Appleby to a friend for her parents.
