View Full Details of Broadwater LodgeMy mum has been in Broadwater Lodge for a year now and is very happy, we find all the staff are very kind and helpful, we enjoy visiting her and feel very welcomed. It's nice to know that the care home fully understand my mum's illness and the staff always show care and attention to my mum and us. Thank you.
Whenever I visit my mother-in-law at Broadwater Lodge, I always find her happy and well cared for. Every member of staff I've had contact with is extremely professional, approachable and kind. There is always something going on to engage the residents, from film night to nursery children visiting, to quizzes and visiting singers. As a family, we could not be happier with the care and dignity given to my mother-in-law. Thank you everyone at Broadwater Lodge.
Broadwater Lodge has looked after my friend with great diligence and taken good care of him. If they have any concerns, they communicate them to me quickly. The staff are always approachable, friendly and clearly have the best interests of the residents at heart. There are a lot of activities that take place; it is a fun place. And yet for those who wish to be alone, there are many spaces to do so. The stimulation provided by the animals outside cannot be overestimated. My friend has become happier than I would have thought possible having been at Broadwater Lodge; a great place!
Up until March 2024, my mother had spent 5 years living in the home, until sadly she died. Mum joined just as Covid started. Bearing in mind I had to make the decision for Mum to go in a home, this was the worst possible time for this to happen, especially as she spent 2 weeks in a hospital without access to myself. Difficult for Mum, and incredibly hard for myself and my wife, especially considering the the restrictions that were imposed. More importantly, the pressure that the staff in the care home were under was so ridiculously high. And yet, they did not fail to deliver an outstanding service for all the residents at a cost to themselves and their own families. So few people witnessed this including the government. I witnessed it and I will be forever grateful to all the staff and Care UK for an exceptional gift of giving, love, warmth, genuine caring for the vulnerable, which one of them was, my mum.
Spotlessly clean. Homely atmosphere. Very caring staff. Good food. Teams provide excellent activities. Open door policy is extremely good. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff are always happy. The mini-type zoo is appreciated by residents and their families.
I regularly visit my father-in-law who has been at Broadwater for almost a year now. I am always impressed by the attitude of the staff and they are always so attentive to the residents. I am also impressed with the activities on offer and during December there was a whole variety of entertainment in the lead up to Christmas. I have been fortunate enough to support my father-in-law at a local Christmas Party, and a summer Sports Day. It is great to see the residents smiling and enjoying different activities.
My mother-in-law was there for about a year and absolutely loved being there. The staff were very kind and caring, she enjoyed all the activities on offer. Unfortunately, she suddenly became nursing care due to a fall. We were all very upset she could not return to Broadwater Lodge. Wish she was there now compared to where she is now.
Once again, Broadwater Lodge Care Home has excelled in making their sports day a great success with fun and games for everyone. My mother has been a resident there for eighteen months. Visiting most days, the staff are always friendly and chatty and nothing is too much trouble. Mum enjoys the activities the entertainment team organise which are very varied; guest singers, performers, local nursery school visits etc. Touring the grounds with the pigs, goats, chickens and Biscuit, the shetland pony, is a real enjoyment for her. The staff are so caring to everyone's needs it gives my sister and I comfort to know she is in safe hands and is happy living there. Thank you to everyone who works there so hard, it really is appreciated.
Broadwater Lodge is a very friendly, open and honest care home. They provide daily, amazing activities for their residents. I receive monthly updates on my mum''s well-being as well as regular phone calls on what's been happening with Mum's care and if I have any concerns. I would definitely recommend Broadwater Lodge and will continue to support their amazing staff where I can.
The staff are always so cheerful and helpful and display a real caring attitude towards the residents. They make the home so comfortable for the residents who all seem happy and restful there. There is a positive air as you enter the home and it makes visiting a pleasure as it is a pleasant experience, I can't thank them enough.
I have been visiting my mother who is a resident at Broadwater Lodge for the last three years and would like to say thank you for all the help and attention she has received. She has a favourite armchair in the lounge where the same group of residents sit most days which gives a feeling of being homely. Musicians and singers come into the home at times and everyone joins in. One of the favourite days is when the local children's playgroup visits and plays in the lounge with their toys and games - and the residents are keen to join in! The home is situated in the middle of several grassy areas and benches to sit in the sunshine in peace, weather permitting. All the residents are cared for in different ways and the staff have so much time and patience to support everyone's needs. My sister and I are completely satisfied with our mother's care and definitely would recommend this care home to absolutely anyone.
My mum has been at Broadwater Lodge since October 2023. I cannot begin to explain what a massive impact this wonderful home has had on my mum. We lost my father just after my mum joined and they were so supportive of us all; our lives had truly been turned upside down but they were so caring. My mum is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's and when she was younger she worked in a hairdressers - she loved talking to people but she had become quite depressed and withdrawn. She now talks all the time and participates in all the activities. The activities coordinator is just wonderful, such a beautiful person. They have the farm too and the lovely pony. I can honestly say this is the happiest I've seen my mum in many, many years. If someone had asked me a year ago about my mum going into a home, I would have definitely said that she wouldn't be going into one but, for her, it is the best thing we could have ever done; she is a completely different person and incredibly happy.
It has been a great relief to see Mum settled and enjoying all the activities that are available, especially the D-day celebrations that took place recently, the whole of Broadwater Lodge was decorated in bunting and noticeboards covered in pictures and articles about the actual day. The social media page showed all the cadets on parade with the mayor and the residents sat outside. Our family visits regularly and is warmly greeted by staff and residents. We couldn't be happier - thank you, Broadwater.
My mother is in her 90s and has been a resident of Broadwater Lodge for over 2 years now. She suffers from dementia and gets very confused at times, but due to the excellent care she receives from all members of staff she continues to thrive. Whilst she chooses not to engage in some of the amazing activities provided she is always encouraged to join in so she never feels left out. The friendly caring staff always make visitors feel welcome and part of the larger Broadwater family. My sister and I would not want Mum to be cared for anywhere else. Her room is kept clean and tidy and her medical, social, and well-being needs are well-understood by all of the staff. Mum appreciates all that is done for her and so do we. Thank you!
My mother has been there since June of this year she lived alone and was not managing and was very lonely, Since being at Broadwater she has been much much happier, she’s eating well and loves to be taken out around the local lake, and joins in most activities and has nothing but praise for the staff. Wouldn’t want her anywhere else!
It's surprising that communication issues persist among families and residents, echoing the challenges we faced. Communication was a key factor that prompted us to move Granny out. It’s a shame they haven’t been able to improve. The layout may be better suited for those with advanced dementia, it isolates residents and hinders social interactions. The pub/living room, for communal gatherings, remained largely unused due to the struggle of entertainment staff in bringing residents together. In pursuit of a warmer, more loving environment, we transitioned Granny to a non-profit-run home, noticing an immediate improvement in communication and care quality. Several communication incidents shook our trust in BW. Despite promises from head office, no follow-up was made. Care UK are ultimately a commercial organisation - I urge readers to look into NFP alternatives. The home had its merits, but fell short in social time and communication, partly due to its layout and commercial nature.
My mother has been a resident at Broadwater Lodge since 2020 and we have always found everybody to be very professional and efficient. They go out of their way to make sure that the residents are happy and safe. The activities are amazing and it is so nice to see on social media, that they are taken out for walks and trips out. Since Mum has been here her health has improved so much that she doesn't have to take so many tablets. Mum is really happy here, which is great for us. Thank you all.
We feel very happy that our mum is in Broadwater Lodge; the staff are lovely, there are always activities to keep Mum entertained and there's never a dull moment. The grounds are lovely and there is even a mini farm! On occasions I think communication could be improved, but this is a minor point. Mum is safe, very well looked after and is kept stimulated!
I have been at Broadwater Lodge for one month and I am very pleased with the care. The staff and carers are fantastic, I have been well looked after and am warm and well fed. I do not live with any cognitive impairment, but it has been a great help to reduce my stress living here whilst finding my new flat.
A home-from-home feel to this care home. A great deal of care, time and thought to individuals is seen when visiting. Friendly, helpful and homely atmosphere and plenty of relevant activities for each resident. Clean, tidy and lovely setting. Mum is very happy and settled there.
