View Full Details of David Gresham HouseMum had been a resident since 2021 and we've always found the care staff excellent - the care is personal and consistent. There is a small team who remain constant in contrast to the home my father went to for his last couple of months where you rarely saw the same face twice in one week. There is a sense that nothing is too much to ask. She was treated with dignity and respect. My mother died at the care home in December - she was allowed to remain there in her room and not sent off to hospital as she per her wishes. Staff could not have done more to make mum comfortable popping in to hold her hand or give her a sip of water when the family was not able to visit and they were also incredibly kind to us as we visited in the last few days. Prior to this last month I would say that mum enjoyed being at David Gresham House and liked her room. She did not join many activities but those she went to she really enjoyed facilitated by staff for example offering enlarged texts for the play-reading group.
My stay was a very happy one, and all helpers were exceedingly kind and helpful to me and my family.
My mum looks forward to her respite time at David Gresham House. The management and staff are welcoming and caring. She is looked after very well, enjoying the company, various activities and mealtimes it gives our family peace of mind to know mum is happy there.
My third respite visit and once again have been very impressed with the care and attention I have consistently received each time from all staff and look forward to the next occasion I find myself in need of the so sympathetic ambience invariably present.
My mother moved in six months ago having been struggling at home. She has settled in well, the staff are all friendly and helpful and she particularly loves the food. She now has the choice of her own company in her room, or joining others for meals and activities. She also enjoys the garden now the summer is here.
As a family, we have found David Gresham to be a really welcoming and friendly home for our mum. All the admin staff and carers are very professional and helpful, ensuring that the atmosphere feels very homely. Every week is full of interesting activities to suit all tastes and the regular outings are a real bonus. Above all, we know that my mum is safely cared for.
David Gresham House provides an extremely safe and friendly environment for my Mother, who has told me she enjoys living there. The staff are friendly and approachable and are always visibly available and easily identifiable. There are activities nearly every day if not every day and a hairdresser is also in the home on a regular basis and someone to take care of their nails, which my mother appreciates and is always proud to show me when I visit. My mother had lived on her own for twenty years prior to moving to David Gresham House, with care coming in, however, she was becoming increasingly agitated and worried about falling and had a poor diet consisting of microwave meals. Her diet has vastly improved as has her mental stimulation.
All staff so helpful, friendly and reassuring. Hospitable to any visitors offering them tea/coffee on their rounds. Daily clean clothes. The food excellent and I am more than saddened that I have a very poor appetite. Appreciated the no pressure to go to the dining room and thank you for bringing lunch and dinner to my room. More than glad that I was recommended by friends (her mother was in here) on discharge from the hospital. Not ready then for home but the staff have helped me to prepare for that. Thank you all.
The staff are very kind and considerate and there is a welcoming atmosphere in the home. Myself and my siblings feel that our mother is safe and well looked after in David Gresham House. The food is also something that she enjoys and she also takes part in many daily activities provided.
I had a short stay following surgery. All the staff were very caring and helpful. My requests were listened to and acted upon speedily. This was my second respite visit and thoroughly recommend David Gresham House for this purpose.
Booked in for a short respite stay after surgery. The dialogues and communication prior to the stay were pleasant, thorough, helpful and provided justified confidence in the arrangement. The staff and facilities for my stay were excellent, and I felt comfortable and was very well supported throughout. This respite stay has informed me considerably, and I now know there's a solution ready and waiting to meet future needs.
My grandmother went to David Gresham for temporary respite; she soon made remarkable progress and decided to remain there as a resident. David Gresham has given her the security and support she needed after struggling on her own at home. The staff are truly wonderful, they are on hand constantly and will help with anything - I previously spoke to my grandmother every day when she was at home and the staff have ensured that we are able to easily have the same level of contact which is so important. David Gresham House offers its guests and residents so much; great food, warm and comfortable rooms, a social calendar with a fabulous selection of events and friendly support. Cannot recommend David Gresham House, the manager and the staff enough. This was the best outcome and the best decision my grandmother has made. Thank you for everything!
If you allowed 110% this would show how good Gresham is. I could not praise it enough. Everyone was so kind. Thank you.
My mother moved into David Gresham House at the beginning of October 2022, having been widowed a year previously. Before moving she had become increasingly lonely living in the family home. Since moving in she has had a new lease of life. She is a very social person and the daily events at the home have enhanced her life. The food is excellent with a daily choice for the residents at all mealtimes. The cleanliness of the home cannot be faulted and mum's room is well-appointed with everything she needs. She has total freedom of choice in what activities she partakes in, with the lovely garden affording a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Special mention goes to the staff, many of whom have been there for many years, a great indictment of how the home is run. The staff are friendly and welcoming to residents and visitors alike. Undoubtedly this was a great place for mum to move to.
My mother moved to David Gresham House on 26th February 2011 and we understand she had the longest term of residency to date. We cannot fault the quality of care provided, from hygiene, medical, meals and social activities. The care throughout her stay has been kind, friendly and attentive which no doubt contributed to her long and happy stay. Needless to say, we would not hesitate to recommend David Gresham House to anyone looking for a first-class care home either for themselves or for an elderly relative.
My mum has been a resident at David Gresham House since March 2020. The staff and management have been amazing with Mum and very supportive of us both during her stay as she has quite unique needs which warrant continuous reassurance for extreme anxiety and constant tremours also mild vascular dementia. The only reason why she has now been moved to a care home is that her needs are becoming more intense and I have family nearer there to help me support her.
My mother spent a fortnight in respite care at David Gresham House. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or professional, ensuring that she had a most pleasant stay in a lively and caring environment. I would happily recommend the home both for respite care and a longer stay.
I went in for respite care and was extremely well looked after. The staff were excellent and everyone was friendly.
I was very impressed with the care of all the staff involved, nothing was too much trouble.
My mum transferred to David Gresham House for respite care following a stroke. From the outset, the manager and her team made Mum feel so welcome and have attended to her specific needs with compassion and respect. Mum has settled in well and is enjoying the comprehensive range of social activities on offer, the varied menu and additional in-house services that are available (hairdressing and chiropody as examples). As a frequent visitor, I have met several other residents who all appear happy and comfortable in their environment. The staff are very friendly - most have worked there for many years, which speaks volumes. Outside services that I have encountered speak highly of David Gresham House. I could not wish for a better place for Mum to be!
