My sister was a resident there for about 15 months. She passed away on Christmas Eve. The care was overall very good. After she passed I noticed a lot of her clothes were missing. I was very disappointed as they were quite serviceable and could have been donated. A dart trophy was also missing which was upsetting as it was her pride and joy. Some of the present staff, unfortunately, are not very dynamic and I feel they should be trained better in Elderly Care. A couple of male carers didn't even manage a smile or introduce themselves.
My mother has been living at Glendale for 3 years now and my last review was in September 2023. Much of my then comments still stand, the staff are kind and caring. However, the communication remains poor and many long-term staff have since left. There is therefore less of a familiar, homely environment for dementia sufferers. Entertainment remains sporadic and my mother's self-funded supplies of incontinence products are going missing. I still feel the need to visit daily due to the lack of communication as to when she requires more supplies etc. Overall I would recommend good research and very regular visits. The purpose-built environment is a positive so I hope the current situation improves. The summer is always a difficult time as staff go on leave in the school holidays and the use of agency staff increases.
I am happy that my friend is being well looked after. The home always looks efficiently run and very clean. The residents always look as happy as can be expected. The "crowning glory" of the home are the staff - always smiling and helpful - a credit to Anchor.
Our mother lived at Glendale as though it were her home for five years having gone there all alone after two falls straight from home via hospital during the lockdown that was so hard, particularly on every vulnerable person. She was cared for with the utmost kindness and respect up to the very last moment of her long and rich life. Every member of staff that any of the family met was kind, informed, professional and engaging. As a family, we could not be more appreciative of every single person who added to our mother's daily care. Not only was our mother deeply cared for but during her last days so were we the family as we visited her. It was as though we were included in the family also. It was very moving. Thank you to each and every one of you.
Staff are caring and friendly.
The minute I was told Mum had been accepted into Glendale the worry stopped immediately. It was my first and only choice. I can't think of anything negative to say, from walking through the main doors, the greeting and enthusiasm of the reception to the management, team leaders, all carers, laundry and kitchen staff. Thank you, Glendale.
My father is in this care home. From looking around it a year ago, we knew this was the right place for him. Our priority was him receiving care, love and compassion and that is what we have experienced. They also take great care of us as relatives and we would highly recommend it. Today, we had the joy of joining my dad and the other residents, relatives and staff for a D-day event which was truly special. Thank you to the manager, another particular member of staff and all the carers.
I would like to send a very sincere thank you to the staff who looked after my Mum. Mum was a resident from 2004 until her passing in 2023. I have nothing but praise for the care and management of the staff. The whole home is clean, tidy and the food is excellent. The staff are polite, caring, sensitive and have empathy and sympathy for the residents and their relatives. They treat residents with respect and offer support to all. Thank you Glendale.
So very impressed by the care given to the residents. The home is well-appointed, warm and welcoming. The carers are so nice, not just to patients but to me. Feel so lucky to have got my husband into his home.
Care home is excellent. Staff are very hard-working and very helpful.
Moved into Glendale and I am very happy. The staff are great and are very friendly. The home is spacious and clean. The rooms are a good size with en-suite. There is a good choice of meals on the menu each day. There is also a lovely garden to walk round and seating area too.
I have lived here for many years now, and since living here I have found a lot of happiness. The staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble for them. All the staff are friendly and I can talk to them about anything. I thoroughly enjoy when the entertainers come and perform for us. I am very happy with everything, and want to give a big thank you to all the staff for all their dedication and hardwork.
My mum moved to Glendale from another care home in February this year. She was looked after very well. I found all the staff very friendly and polite. Unfortunately Mum passed away on May 25th, she was 99 years old. It was a great comfort to me that I was told two members of staff were holding her hands when she passed. I would certainly recommend Glendale.
Absolutely 5 star and above. Mum came to Glendale just before Christmas for respite care from hospital after a fall at home. The staff are wonderful and go above and beyond - no request is too big or too small. They got to know Mum and her foibles and she was very well looked after during her time there. She was encouraged to join in activiites - she ate well and was always clean and tidy. Mum has continued in care full time - we made the decision to move her closer to ourselves geographically - I only wish I could have transported the whole of Glendale home and staff to just up the road from us. Unfortunately I couldn't but, yet again, the staff were so helpful in getting Mum packed up and making arrangements for her transfer. We chose another Anchor home on the basis of the care which Mum received from Glendale and its staff and haven't been disappointed in the new home either. I can wholeheartedly recommend Glendale.
My mother has been a resident at Glendale Care Home for just over two months due to her worsening dementia and declining mobility issues. The experience so far is all that we could have wished for in terms of providing Mum with an engaging, reassuring and fun living environment at her stage of life. There always seem to be plenty of staff members on hand to provide care and we have not encountered a single one that isn't cheerful, compassionate and always ready to help. The management team are open to suggestions and gives due consideration to any ideas we may have as relatives. Combined with good, varied food choices and diligent cleaners and laundry staff, we are extremely happy with the care that Mum is receiving which gives us great peace of mind.
My mum has been in Glendale Care Home for eighteen months and has thrived with the excellent care and attention from the wonderful staff. I can’t thank them enough. The Glendale management, team leaders and carers create an environment to enable excellent care of the residents, thank you.
Things seemed much improved. At long last, there seems to be a consistency with staff, which for me and my mother is very reassuring. After two and a half years, my mum's room could most definitely do with a lick of paint. I'm tempted to do it myself as it won't take long and I'm sure no one would notice. Reception being staffed Monday-Friday is still a bit erratic. Waiting to gain entry is still frustrating. The weekend reception is very good indeed.
Excellent staff. They care for my uncle and every member of staff talk to him and us. He looks well and the people have taken care of him. He's happy and so are we. Thank you to everyone at the care home for supporting my uncle with his special needs and wants.
Dad originally came in for respite care but the care shown by all the staff made it easy to make it his permanent home. The kindness and professionalism shown to Dad with all his ailments have meant I no longer worry about him as I know he is being well looked after. The friendly staff (especially the team leaders) keep me up to date and informed of any issues. I highly recommend Glendale.
