View Full Details of Greys Residential HomeWith my mother diagnosed with dementia, it's been a challenging time for her and all our family. Her move to Greys Residential Home has been a reassuring experience for all. The whole family have been really impressed with the level of care and attention to detail that's helped our mother's smooth transition into care. I can't speak more kindly of Greys staff and homely personal environment.
I don't know how they run such a professional outfit with such a happy atmosphere and such wonderful feeling care.
The most professional, comfort, caring experience I have ever had. We have had a tough experience with my mum being diagnosed with dementia and not knowing what to do and how to go about things. They guided us out of the dark into the light and Mum is now settling in nicely with lots to do and such wonderful care. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you.
Lovely staff. Lovely activities like a real-life home, staff feel like family. Mum is well looked after. Food is home-cooked and tasty and varied. They work very hard to find lots of different things to keep people occupied. My mum has dementia and I honestly thought she would get worse after coming here but no, she is great.
My father made Greys his home in August 2023 and he lived there for thirteen months before he passed away suddenly earlier this month. He was a quiet, private and fiercely independent man who always knew he would find being in a care home difficult. That said he settled into Greys almost immediately and would go to the dining room twice a day for meals and some company. He enjoyed being cooked for and he went on a few of the arranged outings on offer; these involved trips to local pubs, a garden centre and a ride along the canal on a boat. Greys always felt homely and the staff were excellent. I never felt there were too few staff or that they seemed overstretched with their duties. I liked the fact that Greys was privately owned and not part of a large organisation. I would definitely recommend Greys to anyone looking for a good caring home for their elderly loved one.
Throughout my mother's long stay at Greys, I always found that the care and attention that she received was first class. The staff were very kind and professional and were always friendly and willing to help Mum be as comfortable as possible. Mum always enjoyed the high standard of freshly prepared meals. Social activities organised by Greys made Mum very happy.
Friendly atmosphere. The building was a family home and although it has been extended, it still has a homely feel. My friend was encouraged to have lunch downstairs in the dining room but the rest of the time she was allowed to rest in her room, which she liked to do. Greys is not in a care or nursing home category nevertheless they did a good job in keeping residents safe during the pandemic. My friend had a pretty good 4 and a half years there and only had to move because her dementia sadly became more marked, and she now needs nursing home care.
My friend was a resident at Greys for almost 5 years. The home is in a lovely setting and beautifully decorated. The staff were caring and always responded to her needs. Thank you Greys for the care you showed during this very important part of her life.
I could not had wished for a better home for my mother to go to. She has always been so well looked after. The staff are great and very caring with all the residents. Its a big relief to know she is well looked after and in safe hands with all the staff at Greys.
My sister and I knew as soon as we walked through the door of Greys that this would be an excellent choice for my mother who has mixed dementia and associated behaviours. The staff are kind and have done their utmost to settle her in, accommodating many requests. The manager and staff treat everyone as individuals with compassion and understanding. There is an activity most days and the home is open to suggestions for different outings from residents and their families. My mother has said the food is nice and appreciates a glass of wine with her meals. The building is well maintained and there is a helpful handyman to keep on top of any issues. It is reassuring to know that my mother is in a safe and caring environment.
Our family are so grateful. Mum's safe and so happy. Two years of stress and worry leading up to her coming here is finally over. We can breathe again. Home from home. Mum has made friend's with all, feels like family to her and us. Mum's mental and physical health are 100% improved. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a loving, caring, safe home for loved one.
Came here for respite care. Care so good, made the decision to stay in residence.
My mother-in-law stayed at Greys whilst her broken arm healed and she was incredibly well looked after, she absolutely loved her stay there. The staff were so friendly, very caring, supportive and understanding and she was so impressed with the food which she said was fantastic. Her stay was the perfect convalescence for her, so thank you to everyone at Greys for being so instrumental in her healing and in restoring her confidence.
Mum loved the home and called it her 'home' in her last days. The staff were all wonderful and so kind to her. She loved the food, especially the homemade soups and made some new good friends. It was just a shame she never got to spend longer here.
Greys provided excellent care and support for my mum in a very small and safe environment with a good staff-to-residents ratio. Mum was very well looked after with a kind and respectful approach maintaining her dignity. The friendly staff had time for nice chats (and some humour) which my mum liked. Greys has a wonderful garden with decking and gazebo. Mum had a lovely view of the garden from her armchair and easy access through her French doors. Mum liked the Arts and Crafts class and good, home-cooked food. She also enjoyed the lively birthday parties with cake, Bucks Fizz, and live entertainment. She appreciated all the support at Greys and was content there for just over 4 years.
Our mum was a resident at the home for several years. We consider it very lucky that there was a place at the home for her to be able to move in. Her care was excellent throughout her time at the home. The staff were excellent and the food was good, with our mum having a very specific dietary requirement. I would recommend Greys Residential Home very highly.
I’m sad to say that my lovely Mum passed away at Greys Residential Home last Saturday. She’d been ill for so long that it was inevitable really but nothing quite prepares you. The best I can say is that she was at peace - bathed in love, free of pain and serene. That is in no small measure thanks to the tireless and brilliant team at Greys who do an incredibly hard job incredibly well. I and my family will forever be indebted to the manager and everyone (present and past) who was involved in my mum's care for the duration of her residency there for giving her time, support, encouragement, dignity and love...and doing so unconditionally. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
My aunt lived at Greys Residential Home for five years and eight months from January 2017 and died there aged 93 in August 2022. She was very happy at Greys. The staff are caring, friendly and professional and many of them were there for the whole time my aunt lived there, which to me speaks volumes of the quality of the management team. The manager for most of the time, her brave stance during the pandemic, in my view, saved the residents as not one resident died from Covid. A new manager has now taken over, having been trained by the previous manager, and she is doing very well indeed. There are lots of activities arranged at Greys for the residents to enjoy if they want to. Residents' birthdays are celebrated by everyone and an entertainer is booked so there can be a great party atmosphere. The ambience at Greys is friendly and welcoming. The support staff are always helpful. I can't recommend this home highly enough and feel grateful that there was a place available for my aunt at a time when she needed it.
All aspects of Greys are first class and the handling of the especially challenging situation during the last two years has been excellent. The facilities are comfortable, clean and well maintained and the recent remodel has improved them even further. The staff treat my mother with kindness and dignity and the management of the home is superb.
My mother was very reluctant to accept that she needed more care than her family could provide but in the past two years she has thrived at Greys. The team are like her extended family now. They treat her with love and respect, and most importantly, as an individual. Their commitment to her care, safety and well-bing during the pandemic hasbeen exemplary. I can't praise them highly enough.
