View Full Details of Hill Brow Residential Care HomeSuch a lovely care home, staff are very helpful and friendly and I know always look after the residents with the utmost care and respect and as a visitor I am always made welcome. Special thanks to the lovely senior carer too!
My dad joined Hill Brow in October 2024. When he arrived, he was very low and underweight. I cannot believe the change in him! He has got back to a healthy weight, he is happy and content. The staff are so lovely. They are all friendly, warm and caring. There is a real sense of community in the home and I always feel welcomed there. I love that my dad is treated with dignity and respect. Dad is really impressed with the choice of food and if he ever asks for anything, the staff make it happen! Thank you for making Dad smile again!
The resident is extremely well looked after in all aspects of her life. Activities are excellent as is the care and food. Communication is important and I am kept informed of her well-being, doctor visits, etc.
My mother has been a resident for over a year at Hill Brow Residential Care Home and the home continues to provide the same level of outstanding care for her as they did at the beginning The staff are always so polite and welcoming and the atmosphere created is reminiscent of a very large family home. There are many outings and activities to stimulate the residents including a dementia choir, arts and crafts, visits to local garden centers and visiting entertainers.
Three months after arriving, Mum endured a traumatic event when she broke her leg, requiring surgery within 24 hours. The ordeal was harrowing; a 3-hour ambulance wait and the hospital staff's poor bedside manner left her delusional, convinced she was part of a medical experiment. Her distress deepened under Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). The hospital's emotional care was appalling. Communication with next of kin was confusing and uncaring. Even after being cleared for discharge, Mum was held unnecessarily for 5 days for a procedure that could have been done as an outpatient. By the end, she believed she would never leave the hospital. Hill Brow stepped in with the persistence, care and expertise the hospital lacked. Thanks to their support, Mum returned to Hill Brow on Christmas Eve, safe and surrounded by kindness. Hill Brow's professionalism, compassion, and adaptability make them exceptional and easy to recommend. They have been a lifeline for my family.
Both my parents have recently moved into Hill Brow Residential Care Home together. Care and attention has been made to help them feel welcome, to settle them into their new environment and to feel safe and valued within the care home community. My mother also suffers from celiac disease and can become very ill very quickly if food is contaminated or offered food that contains gluten. There have been no incidents of this occurring, this is down to the excellent chef and care staff. I also would like to thank all the staff and especially the manager for also helping myself and my family with this huge change. Outstanding!
My mother (96 years old) was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's and we recognised that it was time for her to have 24 hour care. My daughter and I looked at 6 different establishments in the area and Hill Brow Residential Care Home absolutely stood out as the place for her. We definitely made the right decision! I honestly could not imagine a better place for her to enjoy her latter years. The staff are organised, engaged, but most importantly caring, and their interaction with the residents is exemplary. The atmosphere is lovely and homely and there is a wide range of activities in which to participate, should they choose. All the meals are cooked from scratch and are delicious and nutritious. The manager and her assistant keep in regular contact and there are also periodic one-to-one meetings. I would not hesitate to recommend HIll Brow.
When putting my grandma into placement we looked at multiple different residential and nursing homes. Hill Brow Residential Care Home was by far our favourite and since my grandma has moved in has continued to impress us. My grandma loves it, they have a load of activities to join in with and lovely food and drink options. My grandma constantly tells us how safe she feels and how well looked after she is. Thank you to the team for helping her settle in so well and making her feel so safe.
My mum was very resistant to becoming a care home resident. However when eventually, at ninety-seven years old, she agreed to give it a try she loved it. This is totally down to the wonderful ambience at Hill Brow generated by a kind and loving staff. She joined in with most of the activities and although her stay proved to be a relatively short one I was totally happy with the care and attention she received during that time. My whole family would like to thank the staff for looking after her so well.
My Mum has been a resident of Hill Brow for 2 years now. From the moment she arrived she was made to feel very welcome. The staff at Hill Brow are all so kind and caring not only to Mum but also to family whenever we visit. The home feels so warm and welcoming and has a wonderful atmosphere. I also feel very happy when I leave knowing that Mum is being so well cared for.
We had a wonderful family BBQ this month. Families come along to spend time with their loved ones and the staff work very hard to make it fun, they provide food and drinks, along with a singer (who was very impressive). Everyone is very friendly! I especially like to see how the staff interact with the residents and they are so kind and patient with them. Thank you for everything you do for our mum!
My father was a resident for just over 2 years. He was well cared for and treated with dignity. We never had any worries about his care or safety. All of the staff were wonderful, considerate and empathetic.
My father lived at Hill Brow for 2 and a half years. He moved from another care home where he was not happy as the service had declined. He has been happy at Hill Brow and found the staff very helpful, especially the carers who helped him with personal care which he said they did with dignity and he never felt awkward. The home has provided lots of activities with frequent trips out including a canal trip, visits to the pub and various cafes. Whenever I have visited there has always been something going on. My father's room was lovely overlooking a pond. Visitors can go to the home whenever they want, it is always clean and bright with a happy atmosphere. The staff have always emphasised that Hill Brow is the resident's home and it is- not just 'a' home. My father recently passed away and the staff looked after him, and us, extremely well in his last days. Thank you to everyone at Hillbrow.
My mum has been a resident at Hill Brow for over 5 years. Many of the staff are the same as when she arrived, so there is excellent continuity of care, which is very important to my Mum as she has dementia and finds change difficult. She loves living at Hill Brow and always tells me how lucky she is to be there! The staff treat her with dignity and respect and they all know her particular likes and dislikes. They are all extremely well-trained in elderly and dementia care and are always so patient and kind. My Mum is very happy and settled at Hill Brow. Thank you to all the staff for looking after her so well.
What an amazing and well-run home from home. My aunt has settled in well and joins in with the weekly entertainment and activities which has put a smile back on her face. She loves her room which leads out onto a lovely garden. Weekly diary updates are received from the team with photographs of your family member. Thank you Hill Brow.
My mum has been in Hillbrow for over two years now and I can't thank the team enough. I think it's the amazing caring team that makes it so special. I looked at so many homes before finding Hillbrow and haven't regretted my choice, my mum is very happy there.
My aunt moved down from her retirement flat, where she was struggling to cope, to Hill Brow in December 2023. She is really happy here, her room is spacious, with plenty of storage, she likes the food and enjoys talking to the staff. Communication with the management is excellent, and the staff are, without exception, caring and interested in her. She is treated with respect as a person, not simply a number, and this has not only helped her physical well-being but also her mental health - she is so much happier than she was before she moved down. I researched and visited many different homes before choosing this one, and I am so glad that I found Hill Brow - it is a truly excellent care home.
My friend has been a resident at Hillbrow for 6months. In that time I have been really impressed with the accommodation, very light and spacious lovely rooms and a well-tended garden. The staff are so attentive and kind, and my friend is cared for in every way. I can see she is happy there, which is so important. There are plenty of activities to be enjoyed and there is always a variety of things to do. My friend became unwell while I was on holiday recently, and I was updated regularly by the Home Manager. I was very reassured and felt able to continue my holiday without feeling uneasy or wondering if I should return. From what I have observed I would say Hillbrow is a quality care home.
I have been a resident in Hillbrow Care Home for six months. I selected this home after careful consideration and following two week's respite care as a trial period. I cannot speak too highly of Hillbrow, for the standard of accommodation, the beautiful tended garden and, most importantly of all, the care received. The staff are caring, attentive and kind. My needs, as they are at present, are met in every way. Not only that but the work ethic of the staff ensures a happy and enjoyable atmosphere as they are high profile and always to be found among the residents making all of us feel special and worthwhile. The activities provided are many and varied and there is always something for everyone. All given with great spirit and brightness and it is a delight to participate in those things which appeal most from the programme. I think perhaps the biggest compliment I can give to Hillbrow is to say that I feel a contentment here which is fundamental to the quality of life is it not.
The residents appear to be very happy and content. The staff are wonderful and considerate to the individual needs of the residents. They provide lots of entertainment and feed them very well. The home is very clean and tidy.
Such a lovely care home, staff are very helpful and friendly and I know always look after the residents with the utmost care and respect and as a visitor I am always made welcome. Special thanks to the lovely senior carer too!
