View Full Details of Sheerwater HouseMy elderly friend and neighbour who had no family was placed here after her dementia got too bad for her to be at home. It was lovely to see her in such a caring and friendly environment. When I visited she was truly happy and well looked after. The amount of attention everyone got was incredible. The staff all seemed to really care. She has recently passed and seeing two staff members who were particularly great with her at her funeral genuinely upset was heartwarming. One of the ladies became a great comfort and friend to her which was just lovely. Thank you everyone there for working so hard and for actually caring!
I am very happy with the facility and the staff who I feel are very helpful. I would like to thank the staff for looking after the person who I/they have responsibility for. I will try and encourage the person to change his clothes more regularly now he has new trousers. I will get him new tops when I go shopping.
Always polite and care shown for my mum, keeps me up to date with any concerns. She seems very happy there and they understand her health issues. They show they care and try and give advise on anything she needs.
Very helpful and attentive staff and management. Very good value in a quiet environment. Residents appear relaxed and in safe hands.
The team are helpful and always friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm. Would definitely recommend. The manager seems great, with a good team.
Pleased to see him looking so good every time we visit. Always looking well cared for. Home is very comfortable. Staff very welcoming.
My mother is happy here and loves the staff, in particular. She enjoys the homecooked for and the company of others. The staff are great with her, and we are confident she is in a safe place with people who care about her. We are lucky to have found such a lovely place for our mother.
The home has been superb with my mother - very attentive, friendly and caring. I couldn't be happier with the care my mother received.
A very small and personal residential home for my elderly mother. Residents are treated with dignity and respect, devotion and kindness. Single owner, very approachable, informative house manager and devoted carers. Accessible on the phone at any time with flexible visiting times, indoors or out in the garden if fine. A rather old-fashioned residential building, but suits Mother perfectly and is very local to me. Mother has advanced dementia, and the staff are so patient and empathetic. A local doctor from the GP surgery visits once weekly, and the hairdresser is available as an extra if needed. I have a private audiologist to micro-suction my mother's ears, and the home allows this. I pay for this separately. Very reasonable fees at this residential home. I cannot speak highly enough of Sheerwater House, comfortable rooms, communal sitting room and dining area, lift available. Good liaison with local health centre and medications are issued to residents appropriately from drugs trolley. Excellent menus in the kitchen.
When I first visited Sheerwater House I was struck by the friendly and caring family feel this home had. Placing a loved one into care is a difficult time for family members and the staff at Sheerwater House gave me the confidence I was doing the right thing and provided me with the assurance that my mother would be safe and care for. I did not and still don't need to make an appointment to see my mother. I can drop in at any time. This is a mark Sheerwater House, take us as you find us 'a true home from home'.
My husband has been in this care home for 18 months now and he has the best of care. I have nothing but the greatest admiration for all the staff. There is plenty of food and drink available at all times. They also make sure their birthdays are special. When I visit, which is about every 10 days, I onserve the other residents all cared for with patience and compassion as some of them have extreme dementia. I, for one, am so grateful for their work. I know I couldn't cope.
We placed my mother in this home after investigating several in the area. We think it is the right size and environment as it promotes a community and friendly feel. The staff can't do enough for the residents and food, entertainment and overall care and management are excellent. Activities are varied and keep the residents entertained and stimulated. We're absolutely convinced we made the right choice for our mother and are extremely happy with this care home.
From 2011 to now my mother has been cared for in a very homely environment with the utmost dignity and respect. We have never had any cause for concern and any queries or issues are always dealt with in a prompt and professional manner. Being a relatively small home it always seems such a family type setting.
My friend was transferred to Sheerwater House from hospital after her previous care home refused to have her back stating they couldn't meet her needs. Since her arrival at Sheerwater House, her appearance, attitude and sense of fun have all improved out of all recognition. She is back to reading, very chatty, goes out to a club once a week and is always well presented.
My Uncle became unwell and the home tried to keep him residing with them for as long as possible prior to hospital admission, as per my wishes. When it became clear he was at end of life, the care home ensured he was sent back to them to live out his final days in dignity. Their professionalism and compassion to him and the family is to be noted.
My brother was discharged here at short notice from hospital. The staff have taken the time to help him adjust to a new environment and ensured his personal hygiene standards didn't slip. They ask him questions and wait for him to respond, despite other friends and family being present that would answer for him.
Very good home, mum has been there since March 2013 and is very happy, well fed and very well looked after in all ways.
I went to Christmas lunch with my father in the lovely care home. We had a great time. Great music, lovely care and very good food. Everyone was happy, calm and peaceful. Thank you Sheerwater House.
A very welcoming, friendly, caring and happy home. My mum has been at Sheerwater House for just over two years. I was very apprehensive about her going into a care home as I was unable to care for her any longer. Within a few weeks of her being there, I felt very sure that I had done the right thing.
Lovely friendly care home with a family atmosphere. Plenty of activities throughout the year and everyone is made to feel extra special on their birthday.
