View Full Details of Derwent Residential Care HomeMy mum absolutely loves it here. She has been here couple of years now and has made couple of friends. She is finally safe. The staff are amazing and friendly and so helpful. Only thing I would recommend is more activities. Staff always go above and beyond to he caring and kind and helpful.
We moved my mother to Derwent Residential Care Home and the staff and management helped us through what was a difficult transition. They were kind, honest and professional and treated us as family, and my mother with care and dignity at a very stressful time. Sadly my mother died only 3 weeks after she arrived at Derwent but in those 3 weeks, she was well looked after.
I cannot recommend this place any more the staff are amazing my Nan was looked after and loved by all staff they made her feel like family. I visited every day they always welcomed me in and answered any questions I had, the manager is such a lovely man he went above and beyond to make nans last days as comfortable as possible. I will always remember all the staff and will always be in their debt for how amazing and caring they all are, thank you again and I will still pop in and see you all and say hello to the residents who I also became close to,
I cannot fault the care at Derwent. My mum loves all the staff and it’s a very safe environment. They are all exceptionally good at what they do and have plenty of care and understanding for my mum who is nonverbal. My only negatives are that mum sometimes doesn’t get up until 11 am and has her breakfast then and about an hour later will have her lunch. The only other downfall is they do not have enough activities at present, but there is a new manager who hopefully will bring this in place. Very impressed with the communications by the new manager to us as a family to keep us updated at all times.
My mother has been in the Derwent Resident Care Home for over 2 years she is well cared for, and the home is clean and the staff are always friendly. The Derwent has a new manager who sends us emails and we are kept informed of changes and seems very friendly and approachable. Hoping an activities person will be employed for some stimulation. There was a lovely lady there last year but she left.
Mum always appears to be happy, clean and well looked after. Communication between the care home and family is really good. The care home always looks clean and tidy and staff are all friendly and helpful.
Ever since I have been a resident my care has been second to none. The management and staff are so caring and nothing is ever too much trouble and always ready to listen to you if you need them. I would thoroughly recommend this home to anyone without question.
From the first time of seeing the home we were put at ease, the home is lovely and clean, no smells and the staff are lovely. Very spacious and well set out. The kitchen is lovely and clean and the meals smell lovely. We saw two homes before Derwent and they were disgusting. I can actually sleep at night knowing they are in good hands.
Lovely caring staff, very clean. My friend has settled in and is very happy. The rooms are big and decorated very nicely. The staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. My friend is very well cared for at Derwent.
All staff have been professional, friendly, helpful and patient. The home is clean, well run and comfortable. My sister has settled in well and is very happy at Derwent.
Staff are always helpful and friendly, always keeping me informed of any health developments and treatment. I very much appreciate all their help and care.
The staff made my father feel this was a home from home, they even bought him a lawn mower to help him continue his regular routines. Great awareness of needs that were addressed immediately.
Am grateful for all that the carers do - I know they are stretched and poorly paid. Some carers are more attentive and pleasant than others. Little things mean a lot - like the carer who buys cat treats for Mum and Dad to feed the home cat. Similarly - abruptness and impatience have an impact too. Some carers are very brisk and short - not allowing residents to be heard and dismissing them. Floors and tables are often dirty and sticky. Washing clothes - never seem to get own clothes returned! Poor stimulation and activities provided?
I have always found this care home to be clean and have a comfortable atmosphere. The staff are very good with the residents and the food is excellent (special arrangements for my friend who is vegetarian).
My experience of Derwent is very good. The staff are very caring and excellent in their care of my mum. They are always friendly and courteous when I or other members of the family visit Mum. The staff are always very helpful when I have any questions about Mum's dementia.
It is a relief to know my husband is so well looked after.
Friendly, warm and caring staff. They spend time getting to know each person that is in their care. Nothing is too much trouble. Willing to listen to any worries from family that visit, easy to talk to and they understand. My mum is treated with respect, as all residents are. They have fun and keep busy. My mum's room is always clean as is my mum and she is fed well. Lots of activities.
My mum came to stay for nine days respite. She was very happy here, in fact, for the first time she has asked to go back when we go on holiday. This is a major breakthrough for us. The staff are very good and friendly. The activities lady became her friend and we had positive feedback from her. We are hoping Mum will be able to stay again in a few weeks' time.
My experience with the Derwent has been extremely good. Good staff, food, and general care. I've known other residents prior to my sister-in-law, hence this was our first choice of care near our home, and the care continues to this day.
My mum appears well kept, when asked she said the staff are very good to her and they are good fun and take care she is looked after. She said the food is good but misses cooking her own food. On appearance she is clean, skin looks healthy and feels soft. Feet look well taken care of and she enjoys her fingernails being painted. Hair neat and tidy. No complaints from her. Staff been outstanding.
