View Full Details of Grosvenor HouseMy mother had been in Grosvenor House for four years. In this last year, she suffered ill health. First with Covid at the beginning of the year which we didn't expect her to survive at 97 but with the excellent care of the staff she recovered to enjoy the activities and outings around the garden. Mum didn't really recover her appetite and slowly declined until eventually she could not eat or drink and was on palliative care. The staff were amazing and ensured she was comfortable at all times, treating her with dignity and respect even when she was unresponsive. Calling in medical staff to ensure she was pain-free. In the last days of Mum's life, I received incredible support from the home, nothing was too much trouble. I stayed with Mum for three days and nights. I couldn't recommend Grosvenor House more, brilliant.
The is always a warm and friendly welcome from senior staff at reception and a willingness to discuss any issues or concerns. Whenever staff come into mom-in-law's room, they greet her with a smile and kindness, including the cleaners, laundry and maintenance staff as well as carers and she is always treated with dignity and respect.
My mother is well cared for and the staff communicate with her and are always aware of her needs. The home always appears clean and tidy and the dining area is well laid out and tables are easily accessible. Management staff can be readily available to answer any queries or problems with my mother's care. There are problems at times with staffing and responses can be a little slow, a problem it would seem to be also in other care homes. A single left to serve all floors at times also seems rather inadequate.
We have always found the staff very helpful and friendly and they interact with the residents well. There are always activities going on. The food is very good and menus are varied and interesting. The building is always spotlessly clean and has a fresh smell.
My mother has only been in Grosvenor House for six weeks now, but she is settling in well and is joining in with activities. She has a lovely bright room with a fabulous view of the sea. The staff are very kind and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.
Visits to my sister are so infrequent that it is not possible for me to express any meaningful comment except to say that my sister always appears very satisfied with the home.
My mother has been a resident for five years. She always looked well cared for and content. The rooms and communal areas are always clean and odourless (not always the case in other homes I have visited). The staff are friendly and approachable, very easy to talk to. Mym always praises the care she receives and appreciates the time they spend to chat to her. Activities are well-organised and they are encouraged to join in. Mum became a little reclusive last year but with a chat with the staff, they encouraged her to join in which helped her immensely.
Grosvenor House has provided excellent care for my dad. He has been there for 3 years and staff have enabled him to remain active and maintain his hobbies of gardening, jigsaws and scrabble, this has been so important him. He has been looked after by a team of caring, patient staff who have been brilliant and I owe them a very big thank you.
My mother has been at Grosvenor House for nearly a year now and is extremely contented and relaxed with her surroundings and with the care she receives from every level of the care team, from the manager down. Increasing mobility issues had made her almost a recluse, but now she has a range of activities brought to her, whilst access to the park outside the door also provides her with a safe space in which to take herself for a walk and enjoy some fresh air. There will always be issues at this time of life, but each has been dealt with promptly and with great kindness.
After a period of time having respite care here, my mother decided to return to continue to have residential care. She feels safe and well cared for. All the staff are extremely kind and attentive, they are always happy to please, nothing seems too much trouble. She has a lovely room, very bright and a beautiful view of the sea.
Grosvenor House has been a very positive experience for my mother. The support and care she has received whilst living there has been amazing. She has been rejuvenated whilst living there and leaving to relocate to be closer to family was an extremely hard decision to make. The staff from the top down have such a warm, supported attitude to everyone, from residents to family members. We always felt welcomed when we popped in to see Mum. Mum was very happy living there and I would recommend Grosvenor House to everyone. We can't say thank you enough.
We are very lucky to have been given a place in this care home. The staff are kind, caring and extremely hard working. The management is always available; they respond quickly to any query and go out of their way to be helpful and supportive. It is a pity I cannot use names as there are several members of staff and management who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. My thanks to everyone concerned. My family and I are extremely grateful.
Grosvenor House is a wonderful care home. All the staff are extremely friendly, caring and very helpful. Every day there is always some sort of activity going on from baking cakes, knitting club, bingo, chair aerobics and a lot more. I have always found the manager’s door is always open for any concerns you have or just for a little chat. My mum was very happy there, I would be happy to recommend it to anyone - you won’t be disappointed!
Mum only recently moved to Grosvenor House and the staff have worked very hard to help her settle into her new surroundings. Always a welcoming reception when we visit.
My mum moved into Grosvenor House after several hospital stays. It has taken her a while to settle in but the staff always keep us well informed and if a doctor visits they let us know the outcome immediately. She has a lovely room overlooking the bowling green with sea views. The rooms are well decorated, very clean and tidy. The staff are all very friendly, kind and caring.
From the very first meeting, the team at Grosvenor House welcomed my nan with open arms and made her transition into care the best it could have been. Nan is happy and comfy and she's made new friends and life seems a lot kinder. I am very grateful to all the staff members who invest so much in the care of their residents. It was great having Nan at home with us on Christmas Day, we couldn't have done that without your help. Many thanks!
My dad spent sixteen months at Grosvenor House receiving 24-hour care in a lovely clean sea view room overlooking the bowls green where he used to play. It was like living in an extended family and when I visited I always got a friendly welcome. They had a programme of varied activities each day in two lovely lounges. When my dad was well enough they would take him along the seafront which he enjoyed. He also liked to visit the little shop where he would stock up on treats. I was always kept informed of any changes in my dad's health and with the end-of-life care they went above and beyond with their care for him and the support for the family. The Management and all the team have been amazing and work so hard and I cannot thank them enough for all they did for my dad.
All the staff are excellent, providing a caring and attentive service for residents. Rooms are always clean and tidy. Meals provided are carried and tasty. There are always a variety of activities to entertain residents, and the facilities provided are excellent.
We had heard good reports about this care home, and our experience to date confirms this to be the case. All the staff are very friendly, and when I visit, I'm always met with a friendly welcome. My dad has a very nice room with a view of the sea, and the staff have taken him for walks around the nearby gardens. I was very impressed one day when four of the residents, including my dad were pushed in wheelchairs a half mile along the seafront to a cafe for something to eat and drink. I bet that was hard work. At times he can be very difficult, and the staff have dealt with this in a very patient manner. There's no questions he is receiving a far higher level of care now he's in this care home than he would have done had he not moved in. It's also true he's now receiving regular medical reviews of his health and when there's been a medical emergency the response has been very quick.
My friend had a stroke and lost some of her mobility and as a result, she lost confidence. At home again she was unable to cope with housework and she reacted badly to being indoors 24/7 and was underweight. After settling in at Grosvenor House, she enjoyed her room and the fact that she was in the company of others. She has regained her lost weight and she has gained in confidence. It will be a help, while trying to improve her mobility, that she is surrounded by friendly staff and residents.
