View Full Details of Quinnell HouseMy father received excellent care from the 2.5 years he lived in Quinnell House up to the end of life care. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and you could tell they really cared about the residents. His room was always very clean and tidy and he enjoyed being included in the many activities provided. Would highly recommend Quinnell House.
After experiencing the 4 best care homes locally, we settled on Quinnell House. It didn't have its own cinema, resident's bar or designer furnishings-what it did have was unrivalled expertise and interest in the care of dementia patients. Having cared for my wife for 6 years, she entered Quinell last December. It was difficult but Quinnell is a true care home and their professionalism and understanding helped my wife to settle. She is now a calm and accepted member of the community, she is known by name by all the staff who also are well aware of her personal likes and dislikes and are able to guide her through ups and downs. She is peaceful and happier than in many months. I am able to visit when I want and receive regular reports on her condition, well-being and changes in medication. Doctors, Hairdressers and Podiatrists visit regularly so her needs are catered for. Alzheimer's is a cruel condition but Quinell's knowledge of dementia, the quality of care and the way they allow residents to still be individuals makes the situation more bearable. I miss my wife every minute of the day but now she smiles at me, thank you Quinell.
Our relative returned to Quinnell House after a 6-hour visit to A&E after 10pm. They were welcomed back by the Night Staff, assisted out of my car into a wheelchair and into the care home. I advised the Night Senior about all the tests and scans they had undergone whilst in A&E. All this time another member of staff was talking to our relative and making sure they were alright. Our relative was treated with kindness, compassion and respect. They promised to make sure they were fed and given something to drink and settled for the night. I had not met any of the Night staff before and was pleased to see that they are just as caring and welcoming as the staff we see during the day when visiting our relative, which gives us peace of mind, that they are being well looked after.
I’m so glad that we found Quinnell! Dad is so happy here. They try and make everything special. Activities are offered, support is offered to both us and Dad. He can go where he wants in the home and the gardens. The senior staff are lovely and the manager is approachable and friendly. The whole staff team is part of the home and that says something! Home is clean, food is ample with choice. Dad always looks well put together and is offered options so it’s always his choice. Fantastic!
I always found my uncle to be pretty happy and settled in the home. He looked tidy and well presented - although sometimes he was unshaven but he might not have wanted to bother with this! There was always staff available for any queries or help. The home was nice and clean and didn't smell. He enjoyed his food there.
The home is very well run, clean and the staff are approachable and obviously care for the residents. My mum has been so much happier since coming into the home. The facilities are fantastic and the staff do many activities with the residents. All in all a perfect home.
Supportive staff who, deal every day with residents with dementia and other health issues, remain professional in a sometimes challenging environment. Regular activities for the residents include summer BBQs in a sunny garden, one of which I have attended with my mother. There are various other activities which the residents enjoy. The rooms are spacious and clean, the laundry service is efficient and the food is prepared in-house with a changing menu which the residents can enjoy in the dining room. The staff answer my questions about my mother's welfare in an understanding and helpful manner. The management of Quinnell House strives for very high standards which, in my opinion, they achieve. All in all a very well-run care home.
My auntie took a few weeks to settle as lived with me for 28 years. Now she is well-settled, happy! The staff are so caring and kind. They look after my auntie very well. She has her own bright room and ensuite, she was a very reclusive person but now joins in with activity and other residents for occasions. But they also understand if she wants to be alone!
I can’t thank the staff enough. We have had a tricky ride with dementia and they have helped us navigate the changing needs and explained what we can expect and supported us through it! Communication is key and there is always someone to ask for support! We are very happy!
Since Mum arrived at Quinnell House she has been treated with the best care we could have hoped for. It is a hard decision to place a relative in care and all at Quinnell are helping to make this journey easier for Mum. Thank you doesn't seem adequate. The staff are amazing.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For understanding dementia and letting your residents have a quality of life. My father was in a home that was in 'units.' This meant he was restricted. I didn't want this for my mother, so finding Quinnell is a godsend. We could not ask for better.
The first home my husband went to couldn't cope after 2 days and he went to Quinnell House. The staff coped wonderfully with him and he has settled well. They have started a dementia group for people like me which has been a tremendous help. The meals in the home are well-presented and nutritious. Whenever I visit a staff member lets me in and knows exactly where he is. My husband is treated with respect and having him there gives me great peace of mind, all this through a competent and very caring staff.
Short but positive, as the home keeps me well-informed throughout the year. No need for anything more in-depth.
Mum has been in Quinnell House for 7 months and I think that all aspects of her care are amazing. Mum has dementia and complex medical requirements and all her needs are taken care of with understanding and expertise. Within my career I have visited many care homes and Quinnell is one of the best I have seen, looking after all the resident's individual needs. The entertainment is brilliant with celebrations of all key dates and the food always looks lovely and scrumptious and what has impressed me the most is the little touches, a separate lounge where the residents can entertain friends with tea and cake, a hairdressing salon, and outside areas to sit in. Mum's room is bright, airy, with well-thought decorations, and always spotlessly clean. The staff are truly wonderful and nothing is too much trouble.
Huge thanks to the whole team who care for my mum. She is treated kindly, with respect (and a lot of humour) and is obviously happy in her environment. The whole team are friendly and efficient and there is a nice, relaxed ambience around the home. Plenty of activities throughout the week but not compulsory for those who don't wish to join in; all in all a lovely balanced way that's tailored to suit each resident. A particular member of staff runs the family review every quarter and also the monthly support group which is another good way of keeping connected, but all the staff are approachable and willing to offer advice or information. The residence is managed extremely well.
My grandma come in for respite in May while my grandfather had a short stay in the hospital. I was concerned as my grandparents hadn’t been apart for many years and shared my concerns with the manager and deputy manager. They both put my mind at rest and helped me through the process of my grandma's stay. Whenever I visited, my grandma would be involved in some kind of activity be it knitting or playing some instruments with the other ladies in the lounge. My grandma seemed to enjoy her stay at Quinnell House and I believe she looked at it more as a vacation. We will definitely keep Quinnell House in our thoughts in case either of them needs additional care or respite again.
Quinnell House is a welcoming and caring place, full of friendly staff who do their absolute best for the residents who live there. It is well run with responses to queries answered in a timely manner and to the fullest. The home is clean, and the food is always good. I particularly like that they run a Dementia Support Group once a month to help family members understand dementia.
We had to find a place for my sister who has early onset dementia. What a lovely home. She was so comfortable and could walk around and go in the garden. It didn’t feel like a hotel but it was as if she was at home. There was always staff that could help and they are so lovely and helpful. She had a spacious room and we felt welcome to visit! I could not recommend this home enough. Thank you Quinnell House.
Our experience of Quinnell House was very poor. My Grandmother arrived for an emergency respite stay and from day one we weren’t happy. She was left sitting for long periods of the day without much interaction or encouragement to eat or drink. As someone who has a very small appetite, she requires prompting to eat regularly. We as a family witnessed staff members sat on their mobile phones in the resident lounge, barely acknowledging their patients. On day 6 we arrived at 1.40pm to find her still in bed in her nightclothes. No one had been in to her since the previous evening, so she had not eaten or drunk anything and hadn’t been taken to the toilet. Management’s apology was that she was missed off the mornings allocation and they were very sorry. This is highly concerning and quite frankly, unforgivable. We have now moved my Grandmother to an alternative care home which so far we have been very impressed with. If you are considering Quinnell House for your relative, don’t!
Some apprehension of placing my dad in a home. We looked at many homes and this one was just different. Dad settled quickly staff was friendly and welcoming. We had a few teething issues but management was approachable and helped sort things out. Dad gets to walk around freely he seems happy and has made friends.
