View Full Details of North Corner Residential Care HomeMy Nan was cared for in the most beautiful way at North Corner - she was treated as an individual and the staff there simply couldn’t do enough for her! Thank you for making the last year of my Nan’s life so comfortable - I will always be in your debt for your kindness to a very special lady.
The staff at North Corner have looked after our Mum during her respite stay in a caring and friendly way throughout and have maintained good communication with her family members.
North Corner really does feel like a family home in many ways. It is small and friendly, and staff know and understand the residents and their individual needs very well. The owners live on site and work incredibly hard. When my mother was in pain and distressed during the night the manager stayed with her and comforted her. They are very vigilant about any health concerns. They are also very welcoming to my father who visits his wife often.
My mum has been living in North Corner for several months and I'm really pleased with our choice of the care home. When the time comes to look for a care home for an elderly parent, choosing the right one is such a difficult decision. We went to look at North Corner after hearing great reports of how much it had improved under new management. We liked it immediately and haven't regretted our choice for a moment. The staff at North Corner are all really friendly and approachable. They are very welcoming, so I feel I can visit mum at any time. The staff all treat mum with kindness and respect. There's a lovely atmosphere - it's a comfortable and happy place to be. They provide an interesting, stimulating range of activities for the residents, including singing, recorded and live music, art and craft, active games and people bringing pets for the residents to stroke. The home-cooked food is excellent. It's such a relief to know that mum is safe, well cared for and comfortable in her new home.
My very elderly mother has been a resident of North Corner since the beginning of August 2017. She has settled in well and feels comfortable and secure, and often remarks how kind and caring the staff and management are. She joins in some activities and appreciates the fact that they're provided, and that she is gently encouraged to take part but is free to choose. She enjoys the food, which is freshly prepared and tasty, with dietary needs well taken care of. The Owner and Manager have worked in the NHS (are ex-paramedics), and keep very close oversight of the residents' health and wellbeing, liaising closely with health professionals whenever needed. This is of enormous reassurance to my mother and our family, as she has various health issues. I and all our relatives are treated with respect by management and staff and our questions answered fully and patiently. I am very glad my mother chose North Corner!
My Grandmother was placed into care in October of 2016 just as the new management of North Corner had taken over. Grandmother was very reluctant to go into care but the staff and management of North Corner showed tremendous care and compassion for her and soon her room and the rest of the house really did feel like home to her. Her last wishes to us were that she wanted to remain at North Corner for the remainder of her days, which she did. The entire team are North Corner are very good indeed. The chef personally took an interest in what my Grandmother wanted to eat and she was thrilled with the food choices. There were lots of activities for her to get involved in and whatever she needed to improve her comfort, the management and staff provided. They truly went out of their way to deliver top quality care in a lovely home they are upgrading. I cannot speak highly enough of the management and the staff at North Corner and the confidence I had in them to look after my Grandmother.
My mother went into the North Corner for respite care after leaving hospital for 2 weeks. The staff were very kind and helped mum with all of her needs. The food was excellent and the old world charm made mum feel at home and at ease. The management could not do enough to help with all aspects of her care and updated us daily on mums health and well-being. Thank you all so much for making mums brief stay a happy and pleasant experience.
A very elderly friend of mine was the least likely person to take to living in a home, but I have to say that the homely atmosphere and the caring staff meant that for the last few months of her life (she died at 101) she was really very happy at North Corner. When briefly hospitalised at the end of her life, the owners were at the hospital every day to visit her. She saw them as extra family members. What more could anyone need at the end of their days.
