View Full Details of Shandon HouseSince my stay in my care home, I have settled in well with hardworking and pleasant staff and management.
All very kind and efficient helpful.
Initially, I found my early months at Shandon different to what I'd expected as I found it extremely difficult to accept and settle into this stage in life. I missed my house, my life, my independence and did not care for this way of life. Grateful as I am for it, I still find my lack of mobility hard. I will never get used to feeling just as I did whilst working and so so much younger!!
Amazing staff, comfortable, community atmosphere. Rooms are cosy/warm. Wonderful gardens, with lovely chickens. Mum has been very happy here, and her mood and health have improved. Mum speaks highly of all staff and services. Wonderful place, with lovely staff and people. My highest recommendation - they have been great.
I could not recommend this care home enough! The staff are so helpful, happy and friendly! The management team helped my dad go back to returning to independent living, even when we thought that this might have been it for him. Which he is so grateful for! They put his care needs first, were happy to do anything to help him and support us as a family during a really tough time. Our children were always welcome. What a wonderful, caring and loving home. I could not recommend anywhere better!
Whilst I have not been to see my sister for over a year due to Covid restrictions, I am in constant contact with her. I have been very impressed with the way staff and management have cared for all the residents, preventing a dreadful virus from getting into the house. I cannot thank them enough. Whilst I have not been to see my sister for some while, I have visited her very regularly during the years she has been a resident and have a good knowledge of the house and the staff. I, therefore, feel I am quite able to give an assessment and "excellent" fits in all areas.
The wonderful caring staff are the key reason as to why I would recommend Shandon House to anyone looking for a care H=home for their relative. My mum feels safe and as content as she can be (she suffers from Alzheimer's), and this gives me such peace of mind to know that she is cared for in a small 'family' environment. My sister and I have always been made welcome when we visited at any time before Covid struck, and there has not been a single case of Covid 19 at the home, due to the restrictions and dedication of all the staff.
I found all the staff helpful and friendly all the time.
The home is always welcoming visitors as they come in. The staff are always respectful of the residents and they seem genuinely caring towards them. The staff take notice of concerns and act on them quickly.
Visiting my friend over a period of 3 years I have constantly been amazed at the homely atmosphere; welcoming staff; care towards patients; lack of what I have noticed at other homes namely either hospital or urine or body odours. Supervision of both staff and service users is unobtrusive but thorough and the diet control is well done. Security is very discreet but operates well.
I'm only here for 3 weeks respite and have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The food is of good quality. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Not rushed into bed and can alight in the mornings in my own time. TV is in my room which is very good. My room was not en-suite, that was the only down-side of my stay. Security - 1 person at night. Value for money - not applicable to me.
My brother settled into the home very well where he has lived for the past 2 years. Every time I visit him he has nothing but praise for the staff and comfort of the home. He also enjoys the meals.
As yet we have found the home extremely caring and our relative is very happy.
Encouraged to be independent and treat the home as if it was your own. Friendly and warm atmosphere.
Very relaxing and pleasing helped to get me back on my feet.
I arrived at Shandon House in June 2017. It felt like I imagine Alice falling down the rabbit hole - it took me about a month to settle in. Now, although like all the residents I would rather be in my own home, this home has been very welcoming. The staff are kind, professional and very caring. There is a lot of laughter! I have a very pleasant room and am happy to be here for however much longer.
I have been at Shandon House for 11 and a half years, it is a lovely comfortable home with nice rooms, good food, always a choice its clean and I really feel comfortable, relaxed and happy here and most of all good carers who take care of us. If they have any time they come and have a chat with us which is especially nice if you have no family and no visitors. I am happy I am here.
Extremely welcoming and friendly home, staff are always going out of their way to ensure residents and visitors are comfortable and safe during their stay/visit. A great range of activities on offer daily. An extensive food menu available as well as refreshments. I would recommend to anyone.
I found Shandon House to be caring, flexible, responsive to the needs of the user and at all times, helpful in all they did. They worked with the user and me at all times to provide the best quality of care tailored and responsive, to the wishes of the user and their family.
The managerial and care staff at Shandon House are friendly and professional at all times. I feel reassured that any resident of Shandon House is in very safe hands.
