View Full Details of WhitegatesWhitegates continues to improve. My Mum has been here for about 7 years. I would say that Whitegates has improved greatly in the last 18 months. The manager is excellent. She has introduced the gold standard recently and the staff explained this well to residents and relatives. Also excellent chef and his staff! The manager works hard and ensures that everything runs to a good standard, now it seems to be running at its best. The residents I see in the lounge seem settled and happy and I often chat with them all. Regular patient reviews are excellent.
I have recently moved into Whitegate and I am very happy and settled. The care provided is excellent and from living on my own for a long time I feel really happy and at home.
From the moment we first physically saw Whitegates, there was a positive feeling. We were warmly met, invited to join in the afternoon's activities offered great coffee and cake, and were shown around the home and grounds - we were taken aback! The decision where to place Mum was suddenly so simple. Now, a resident for a few weeks, there is no looking back. The staff are simply brilliant, and the entire home is spotless and truly homely. Long may it last!
My aunt has been a resident since February 2023. She is extremely well cared for and nothing seemed to be too much trouble by all the staff who are caring and considerate. The ambience in the home is excellent and so is the food, this also applies to other residents.
Thank you all for giving me such a wonderful stay. Friendly staff, so kind and helpful. Great choice of food.
A comfortable and well-run home. It is of much value to me as an elderly widow and provides all the services I require in a friendly and helpful manner.
This care home is excellent. It is the perfect place to be. The staff are helpful and very obliging. The food is excellent. I would recommend it to anyone.
I became housebound and moved into Whitegates in September 2022. I have a very comfortable, spacious room with delightful views over farmland. The food is excellent with plenty of choice. Having lived alone most of my life, I am enjoying the company of other residents and staff. Most of all I commend the high standards and quality of the accommodation with the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Homeliness of the highest quality.
We went to the Christmas party which was fantastic. The singer entertained at the summer BBQ and is a regular visitor, he didn't disappoint this time. Fantastic food, wine and company. My dad and the other residents were all having a lovely time. The staff are always active and inclusive. They made sure no-one was left alone ad did the volunteers.
My mother has been at Whitegates for a few months having originally come in for respite following numerous falls in her own home. She is now a permanent resident and realises this is the best place for her, where she is safe and well cared for. The place is bright and airy and beautifully kept throughout, with a sunny outdoor seating area and large grounds. Her room is a good size, newly decorated with lovely views across the countryside. The food is always excellent and Mum looks forward to her meals. The activities provided are varied and entertaining and the team, whilst trying very hard to encourage residents to join in, are respectful of those who choose not to. All the staff are very caring and patient, with a wealth of experience and knowledge about the needs and demands of looking after the elderly. The staff provide excellent 24-hour care and always keep me informed about my mum, which is very important to me as I do not live nearby. Altogether a brilliant care home.
I prefer not to recommend anything to other people. Very unwise. I do not have any experience with other homes so it is difficult to judge. However, I have been satisfied. Carers are good. The Interior of the building is well kept. Outside is a wonderful country situation. The other night I was very unwell and the care for me was excellent. Normal daily activities are well chosen and we can always make suggestions.
Fun activities in the afternoon. Lovely location and building. Very friendly and helpful staff. I am very well looked after. I get a bit lonely in the evenings as everyone goes to bed.
Mum has been looked after with care and attention from her first arrival. Carers are kind and thoughtful with many more senior carers having been there throughout. Meals have now significantly improved with an excellent new chef.
My mother has been in Whitegates in Westfield for two months. Initially, she went for respite care, within a month she wanted to stay. My sister and I were very unsure that she would want to stay - she loved her home. When asked on several different occasions, Mum said she wanted to stay. Yesterday she said she loved being there! She enjoys the variety of activities and had been in a small discussion group a few days ago and she said she "felt so alive" talking about historical things and different subjects. Mum has also put on weight, much to our delight, as she was just like a little sparrow. Good food too. Mum loves the people that work in the home and also the volunteers -everyone is so thoughtful. Mum is always laughing and, at 96, she feels that she has a new lease of life. Everyone is treated as individuals with different personalities and needs and there is a wide variety of things to do to satisfy all. The rooms are beautiful, the garden and the setting delightful.
Mum really enjoys all the activities as they are varied and great fun. Mum finds the meals delicious with lots of variety and well cooked. The special afternoons such as Filliapno day and teddy bear picnic are fantastic and I enjoy hearing all about them. Overall Mum is very happy at Whitegates so her family are delighted.
The care and attention given to my aunt was very important to me as I was living so far away from the home. The staff kept me informed of any changes in my aunt, and the phone calls between us were always met with reassurance that my aunt had settled into the home and with the other residents.
Mum was a resident at Whitegates from October 2019 until her sudden death in January 2021 (not COVID-19). The home is well managed, all members of staff are professional and extremely caring. Whitegates is homely and clean. The grounds of Whitegates are delightful with a lovely large outdoor seating area. Summertime saw Pimms parties and al fresco dining being enjoyed by residents. The food is well presented, varied and beautifully cooked. A wide variety of entertainment is provided, Mum looked forward to participating in activities. During COVID, relatives were kept up-to-date with all relevant news and information at Whitegates. I was relieved that Mum was safe and had company during this awful time. Whitegates has its own Facebook page, allowing friends and family to view day to activities through photos and videos. We visited when permitted, the visits were very well organised and safe. Mum was very happy at Whitegates, thanks to the dedication of all members of Whitegates staff.
This care home is the most perfect place to be in. The staff are really good about the Coronavirus. We have never had a virus, it goes to show the care they take to keep us virus-free. It is wonderful to be in a home where I feel safe and am very well looked after.
I have been very impressed by how Whitegates Care Home have handled the Covid-19 situation and have been COVID-free. The 'in house' activities have been very good and staff have worked very hard to keep everyone entertained. A big effort has been made in the gardens with hanging baskets and pots to give residents a lovely outlook and a conversation interest.
My mother was resident at Whitegates from 2017 until she died there on 8th April. I wanted to say how completely marvellous all the staff were with my mother who was a reluctant resident. During the last four weeks of her life, when she was returned from hospital with an undiagnosed fracture, they were so kind and caring and I would include every member of the homes community. They were also caring towards my brother and myself and made a difficult situation easier to bear. The accommodation at Whitegates was so good as well as was Mum's food and the endless cups of tea willingly provided to us when we visited. The home is cheery; there is a wonderful entertainments team. All in all, really, ten out of ten.
