View Full Details of Autumn Lodge HoveThe ethos of this care home is immediately obvious, the welcome is warm and friendly and the pervading atmosphere is calm and happy. All levels of staff have a patient and caring attitude to residents and visitors alike. For me this equates with what I would ideally wish to find in a persons own home. No effort was spared in ensuring the Christmas festivities were enjoyed by all concerned. Generous food and gifts were distributed with inclusive invitations for visitors to join in the fun entertainments Top marks!
My mum has been at Autumn Lodge for 6 months so far. I've been so impressed by the standard of care and the effort taken by the staff to make residents comfortable and happy. There are daily activities and entertainment organised which are fantastic. I couldn't really have hoped for a better care home for Mum.
Autumn Lodge is a very special place, it has heart and soul. The staff team, create an atmosphere of living and caring. On every visit, I see staff who strive to be human with humans. Care and kindness in a challenging job of care for people with dementia cannot be underestimated. I brought my brother, who is homeless to see our mother. All the staff who met him were so friendly, chatty, shaking hands and acknowledging him which is so different from what he usually encounters as being seen as a 'tramp' or vagrant. It was so touching. The ethos of the home is about involving people in activities. They pay attention to all the senses and they have fun with the residents. The care is creative, compassionate and consistent. They maintain the magic of being a family of carers, not just a workforce of team. I hope they appreciate how special they are and the talent it takes to work day in and day out with people who cannot be cared for at home by family because it is too difficult.
We have been impressed greatly by the standard of care given to the residents (and visitors) of Autumn Lodge. Without exception, the staff provide a compassionate, friendly and safe environment with excellent catering and wide-ranging activities. There is a lot of laughter! We are extremely grateful for all they have done to give our brother the best possible quality of life over the last year.
It was very hard and upsetting coming to terms with my Mum's dementia diagnosis and realising she needed more support and couldn't live alone. She has lived in Autumn Lodge for over a year and it is such a relief to know she is safe and being looked after by such an amazing team of staff. Every member of staff, whether health care, housekeeping, catering, maintenance, or management treats residents with kindness and respect and are so calm and patient. They work really hard to engage the residents and keep them physically active and mentally alert as much as possible, within their individual limitations. There are group activities three times a day, such as chair football, movie nights, strolls to the local coffee shop, social events for residents, their relatives, and staff together, and art and cookery classes. My Mum particularly enjoys the different singers and musicians who visit most afternoons and encourage people to sing and dance. It is very sad watching my Mum deteriorate but it is a huge relief to know she is looked after and being taken care of by a group of staff who are so dedicated to making the last stage of her life as happy and fulfilling as it can be.
The staff at Autumn Lodge are lovely, very caring and work as a team. The residents have a fantastic week of activities every day, they take the residents out up to three times a week, various activities - art club, pedal people and coffee shop activities. The home is very clean and the food is amazing, the dessert trolley and the local fish and chips every week. Overall they really make it feel like home for the residents.
My 88-year-old neighbour was diagnosed with dementia and Autumn Lodge was one of three recommended homes given. Autumn Lodge was by far the best for me in terms of facilities, the friendliness of staff, location and also their 24-hour visiting times. She spent four months at Autumn Lodge before she died and every day received an incredible amount of love and care. Both the residents and care home staff are the happiest I've met. I highly recommend this care home.
I've visited Autumn Lodge many times while my friend has been staying there and it's always lovely to see the events organised for the residents. It must be hard work, but the team always seem cheerful and genuinely supportive of my friend. I always leave feeling that this is the best place for her; she's in good hands, and I truly appreciate all the care they provide.
My Mother-in-law was a resident at Autumn Lodge for 5 1/2 years during which time, the care she received from all the staff was outstanding at all times. The care staff were always very attentive, the housekeeping team kept the whole home very clean and tidy and the kitchen staff produced the most amazing meals which my mother-in-law enjoyed very much, especially the treats trolley. The outdoor space is accessible to all at any time and is beautifully kept and even includes a bird aviary which our family found to be a great source of stimulation for the residents and visitors alike. The home provides daily entertainment ranging from singers to art classes to petting zoos. It was so nice to see many of the residents being encouraged to be actively involved with whatever entertainment was being put on. There was always a relaxed atmosphere whenever I visited my mother-in-law and the interaction between the staff and residents came across as very professional and extremely caring.
The care our grandmother received from Autumn Lodge was of a very high standard. The home and rooms are beautifully kept, the food was amazing and the entertainment and activities were always so much fun for the residents. The staff, manager and owner were helpful, friendly and very good with communication with the family. When you leave a loved one to be looked after you want to know that they feel safe and cared for and we felt that was exactly what our grandmother was receiving throughout her time there. Highly recommended thank you!
My mother was a resident in Autumn Lodge for 4 years, the care she received during her stay was exceptional. The carers always show such kindness and patience and create a happy home for all the residents. Peace of mind was the greatest gift they gave to me and my family, knowing that my mum was in a safe, loving environment. The home is beautifully furnished and very clean, my mum had a lovely room that was kept spotless. The food is delicious and the sweet trolley a dream. Every afternoon there is entertainment and there is a beautiful secure garden that residents can access themselves. An aviary of budgies provide sweet sounds and Dotty the home dog was a favourite of my mum. The owner and the manager are very approachable and you can tell they truly have great affection for all the residents. I have been to many of the tea parties that they have put on for residents and their families, which were wonderful. I would highly recommend Autumn Lodge.
My mother has been a resident at Autumn Lodge for the last three years, after she resided at three other homes which were not suitable for her, we finally found the perfect home for her, Autumn Lodge. Mum's care has been exceptional, every help possible has been given to her to make her safe and very happy in a luxury setting. I can't thank all the staff enough for all they do, the care, love and thoughtfulness they provide day and night, I found all the staff so friendly and helpful and very approachable. The owner and the manager are involved in all that happens in the home, making a perfect friendly home environment for all residents and family visitors. Autumn Lodge is one big happy family, it is home from home making it something special. Mum has a lovely room which is always kept clean and tidy and when the weather is ok she enjoys the beautiful garden, watching the pet rabbit and the birds in the garden aviary. I will be forever grateful for all the care you give my mum.
My mother has dementia and came to this home a few months ago. Covid has been difficult for them but the staff are wonderful! They nurse, laugh, comfort and dance with her, they are truly amazing! She loves the tea parties they create and dressing up. I feel she may sadly be unable to join us this Christmas but I know that the home will create a magical Christmas for everyone because the staff really do make an effort to create lots of great entertainment and fun and I’m so grateful for that as my mum is a happy, jolly old lady with plenty of life in her yet! Thank you, Autumn Lodge, she loves you all!
This home is well led by the fantastic staff. The manager is remarkable and the owner is 100% involved with staff and residents care, to give them the choice to live a holistic lifestyle. The residents are allowed the freedom to be themselves without interventions in medication. They are well supported in their daily lives no matter how difficult things get, as on a daily basis Dementia can change rapidly. The staff adapt to their needs. My only suggestion would be - when will the owner of Bravery care open another home like this? All homes should take the lead on Autumn Lodge's ethics, care, compassion and ideas of holistic care.
Autumn Lodge is exceptional. Everyone is treated with warmth, respect and understanding with ALL staff going out of their way to ensure the wellbeing of residents – and their family! We're so fortunate to have found Autumn Lodge and instantly knew that it was the right place for Mum to be. Mum has later stage dementia and she's lived here for eight years; I know that as her illness progresses they'll not abandon her. The home is maintained to a very high standard yet it is undoubtedly everyone's comfortable home, not just somewhere they happen to live. Personal care, nutrition and involvement in social activities are all treated as equally important to the happiness of the residents and if someone wants to spend the day in bed (a favourite activity of Mum's!) That's fine too; care is not stinted just because they are in their own room. Continued monitoring of health is exceptional too and I think it is fair to say that Mum is happier and has thrived in recent years because of their care.
This wonderful care home which specialises in Alzheimer's gives peace of mind to relatives. The staff are caring, compassionate and very well trained. Visitors can pop in at any time, food is plentiful and of excellent quality; being all cooked on the premises. Nobody is left in their room all day and everybody is encouraged to join in with the daily afternoon events. The buildings and lovely gardens are all maintained to the highest standard. We count ourselves very lucky to have a place there.
In April 2014, following emergency respite care, I was told my husband would not be able to return home. Following several viewings, Autumn Lodge was the secure home I was looking for. It is in every sense a home, and we were warmly welcomed to join the special Autumn Lodge family. Every member of staff engages and cares for the residents. From housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance etc, they all fully enter into the spirit of caring. Residents enjoy a lively, stimulating, happy and safe atmosphere. Every birthday is celebrated. Christmas parties, summer barbecues, afternoon and morning tea and coffee mornings are enjoyed by us all. I was heartbroken when I could no longer look after Brian but I soon realised that at last we were both being cared for.
Words cannot express how well this home look after their residents the staff are exceptional and the management team are excellent we all know when managers perform well so do the staff. The activities are well-structured family and friends are always welcome and one can always see how well patients are treated, daily efforts are met by gathering all in the main lounges after personal cleaning ready for the day ahead. My father was there for two years and when things got bad and he needed one to one treatment they provided this and did not refer him to a rest home as their duty of care was for long-standing residents other homes just disrupt them by moving them into a nursing home. Autumn Lodge offered nursing care till the end to existing residents. I have known of other homes via friends in Hove when patients have been made to move and only lived for very few weeks.
