View Full Details of BrockenhurstMy mother moved into Brockenhurst ten years ago when the previous care home was no longer able to support her progressing dementia. The Brockenhurst staff team have been very caring and professional, looking after my mother 24 hours a day with some very challenging behaviors and care requirements. They have kept us informed and we have always been welcome to visit at any time. As her Alzheimer's developed, my mother continued to be fully cared for with dignity, respect and kindness. She always appeared comfortable and content, passing away peacefully in her sleep at the end of December 2024. We are eternally grateful to the staff for their care, compassion and constant professionalism when supporting my mother through many years.
When we brought Mum to Brockenhurst, our dad and mum's husband of 49 years had very recently died suddenly at home. My brother and I were dealing with this and also very worried about Mum who were looking after in our home, very aware of her advanced dementia. Arriving at Brockenhurst, we were, straight away, taken back by the welcome, professionalism and warmth of the Brockenhurst who instantly put my mum at ease. During regular visits, our Mum was transformed by the care, support and compassion of the team and we saw her laughing again and always in a buoyant mood. There are not enough words to do Brockenhurst justice in expressing what a massive difference they have made to my mum's quality of life and the comfort they have given us knowing that Mum is cared for and shown so much affection by the team. We receive lovely pictures of frequent happy moments captured with Mum, I would recommend Brockenhurst to anyone. Thank you Brockenhurst.
My brother moved into Brockenhurst in May 2022. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that this was the right choice for him. Knowing my brother was in a warm friendly environment reassured the whole family and put our minds at ease. All the staff were very caring, attentive and professional. The staff were excellent at communicating any concerns or changing needs. We felt confident my brother was well looked after and that is so important. A huge thank you to the matron and every member of staff for making a difficult time bearable.
My mum was admitted to Brockenhurst for a six-week respite period in early 2024. However, the staff quickly identified that her poor health was far more advanced than we realised and her care needs beyond our abilities. The matron and her skilled team were incredible with her care from the moment she arrived. Many of the staff have worked at the home for decades and bring such a depth of knowledge and expertise, especially regarding the complexities and challenges of people suffering from Alzheimer's. Their care and compassion for my mum and for us was outstanding. They communicated with myself and my stepfather constantly and welcomed us into the very homely environment at every visit. They emphasised we could visit anytime and were always so kind and considerate to our needs. Their care was exemplary at every stage. My mum died on July 20th 2024, peacefully and without pain at the home, thanks to their experience and coordination with medical professionals. We are so grateful.
Thank the heavens and Matron that our dear father was able to become a resident at Brockenhurst after previous 'care homes'. Over the past eighteen months, we have witnessed how Dad has transitioned back to his usual self thanks to the constant care, compassion and professionalism received. At Brockenhurst, there truly is genuine interest and attentiveness shown. Residents are treated with respect, a good dose of banter and joy at all times. I often witnessed the dignified manner in which personal care is provided to residents. There is ample space for residents throughout the house. bedrooms are very comfortable and there is a charming garden with benches and an outdoor activities area. Fresh meals are created daily and residents are honestly spoilt for choice. I live abroad yet Matron goes above and beyond to make sure I can send and receive videos and video chat with Dad on a regular basis which truly gives our family a sense of connection. We highly recommend.
My sister died recently after being a resident at Brockenhurst for 15 years. During her time there her condition deteriorated from violent and aggressive to bedbound and unable to feed herself. Every stage of her deterioration was observed and acknowledged by the vigilant, stable and consistent staff. When necessary consultation with external agencies was obtained. Excellent communication was provided during the many years my sister was at Brockenhurst. I can't praise enough the loving, consistent, nursing care my sister received at Brockenhurst.
Choosing a care home for your dad is a daunting business and it’s a decision you need to get right. Well, my mother and I are delighted that we chose Brockenhurst Care Home. Walk around the home with the matron and you will see that she is a lovely, kind-hearted lady who is very fond of all her residents. Her influence can be seen in all the staff. All the staff are very friendly, warm-hearted and have a good sense of humour. They all seem to have an excellent rapport with the residents. The home-cooked food and cakes that we’ve been given on visits are very good. The Brockenhurst gives residents with dementia, like my dad, what they really need in their twilight days. A loving home from home. We can’t thank all at Brockenhurst enough.
Your team transformed what could have been a very wretched day into one I'm able to recall as full of great kindness, emotional intelligence and professional competence. I returned home able to rest in the knowledge that my beloved of 60 years in marriage would be cared for with energy and devotion with (the now confirmed) hope that he would settle in the nurture of you all. With profound gratitude.
Brockenhurst Care Home is overall satisfactory. However, in need of some refurbishment and an improvement in food quality. The care received was satisfactory. We were kept well informed however overall it doesn't present value for money. Although, obviously, I/we were not present 24/7, we can only comment accordingly on our visits to the home which were frequent. Some staff were not very user friendly but the majority were kind and caring.
Our mother was booked in for a fortnight's respite and stayed for over six years! She moved through various stages of her passage through dementia, from a feisty, combative and difficult charge to her later advanced phase of passive and bed-ridden care. During that time, the marvellous staff, with whom we developed such a close relationship, indeed friendship, catered for all her personal needs with unstinting good humour and diligence. The home was always kept clean and fresh, no mean achievement given the occupational hazard of the odd accident of incontinence! The food was home-prepared by the excellent kitchen staff and pureed for Mum's needs. Her appetite seldom wavered, even though she had to be spoon-fed, and I sampled the quality of the food on occasions myself, including the Sunday roasts. It's a sad business watching one's mother's mental faculties in decline, but we had every confidence in entrusting her care to the excellent team at Brockenhurst.
At all times, the care for my aunt has been excellent. The home has all the needs to care for patients with advanced Alzheimer's. The staff kept me informed of all changes in her care plan.
My lovely mum came to Brockenhurst initially for rehabilitation after several stays in the hospital. Although returning home became impossible for Mum, I couldn't have been happier with Brockenhurst. The team worked so hard to keep her mobile and safe. They are patient and kind and don't give up easily! What impressed me was the continuity of staff in the home. Some of them have been there for many, many years. The matron is extremely experienced and radiates warmth and love but with a firm and compassionate hand. The team were able to manage Mum's condition even as it deteriorated, she was bed bound for 12 months and they were diligent in their care and made sure to include her in the enrichment activities. It is incredibly hard to admit you can no longer care for a loved one, however, it is made a little easier when you see the love and compassion demonstrated by the Brockenhurst team. I shall be forever grateful for that.
To all the wonderful staff, I just wanted to say a huge thank you, which is sometimes not enough, for the great care and love you gave to my sister. My sister could not have been looked after anywhere else than here. The environment and the kindness and skill of all the staff who made the ending as good as possible. With all my loving thanks.
We had to find a suitable nursing home for my father, when the existing care home could no longer meet his needs, as he had mobility issues and an increased level of confusion. We placed my father in Brockenhurst Nursing Home as it was a smaller home and appeared well run, with a loyal, experienced staff. We felt confident that my father would be in safe hands and would be treated with respect and this has certainly been the case. During the six months that my father was cared for at Brockenhurst, he was allowed to express his wishes and was treated with great affection by the staff, even when he was frustrated and had low moods. As relatives, we were always treated well, with a friendly attitude and any questions about my father's care were addressed quickly. At the end of my father's life, he was made as comfortable as possible and we were supported well and treated with kindness, as his condition deteriorated and appropriate medical support was organised quickly, when needed.
The user is always clean and well cared for clothes and appearance. The user is a complex person, and the management and staff are always ready to be patient and understanding of her needs. Her room is always spotless, and she seems to be content. I don't think she would be as fit and well looked after if she wasn't at Brockenhurst. Very lucky for me and the user. The staff have kept the home safe, and it's a huge relief to know that. I am very appreciative of all the staff and management.
Since moving into Brockenhurst, my mother has improved. I thought she was going to die, however, she is going to outlive her money. She has dementia which won't improve but physically she is amazing. She enjoys her food, loves the activities and dismisses me after about 45 minutes as in her words 'doesn't want to miss anything indoors'. There has been no covid at all and that is due to the strict regime that I welcome.
After many years in the care of Brockenhurst, my beloved grandmother has passed away. The care, love, and kindness given by all the staff resulted in a peaceful and dignified death. Which I believe everyone should have when their time comes. The communication was exemplary; as a family, we were kept informed and were even able to spend precious time together. We were consulted regarding all decisions to be made and our preferences were acknowledged and respected throughout. When caring for someone and their family at such an upsetting time, I can only say that the team have the perfect balance between being compassionate but also maintaining a cheerful persona. This was helpful beyond belief. Having experienced many local care homes, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brockenhurst. If you have a loved one who needs care and love, and you truly do want the best for them, then you shouldn't hesitate to contact Brockenhurst.
My mother was a resident at Brockenhurst from December 2017 to March 2021. When she was transferred from another care home, suffering from advanced dementia, she was bed-bound, underweight and suffering neglect. Within a short time in the care of the team at Brockenhurst she was out of bed, eating and putting on weight and content. I wish I had transferred her earlier. Brockenhurst is very well managed with a strong commitment to the quality of nursing and personal care. The owner/manager has decades of nursing experience and takes an active day to day management role. Patient care is prioritised over decor and fancy facilities; food is appropriate. The team pursued all avenues available to make my mother's last years as comfortable as possible. The staff turnover is low, all staff are cheerful, compassionate and caring and there is a family atmosphere. For anyone looking for a care home for a resident with multiple nursing and/or personal care needs, I would recommend Brockenhurst.
My father moved into the home in November 2018. This was the third move for him and so it was lovely to find somewhere where l felt that he would be looked after. Sadly my father declined after Christmas and sadly passed away on 25th January. I cannot thank or praise the staff enough for their kindness and compassion towards my father and myself, allowing my father to pass away with dignity and respect. I could not have asked for more. Thank you.
My mother is in the later stages of dementia. She moved to Brockenhurst over 2 years ago when her previous care home was no longer able to support her increasing care needs. Mother quickly settled in very well and we have found the standard of care to be excellent. She is in the perfect place for the level of support she now needs.
