View Full Details of Burleys WoodI would highly recommend Burleys Wood to anyone looking for a home for a parent or friend with Alzeimers or dementia. The home has a lovely atmosphere with a staff of really caring people. The activities that are arranged are stimulating and enjoyable with great participation of the residents. The care is second to none, I was so lucky to find a home of this caliber. A huge THANK YOU.
My mother has recently become a resident at Burleys Wood and I knew from my first visit that it was a great place for her. It has a lovely ambience and every member of the team we have had interaction with has been welcoming, efficient and most of all kind. I know that Mum is safe, comfortable and in good hands. Her room is bright and clean with a spacious en-suite and a large window to watch the world go by. Food and drink are good quality and appropriately offered, with help if needed, an apron to keep bedding clean and lidded cups to avoid accidents. Going into a care home can be a difficult decision for all concerned, it's a new phase that can be very emotive but my experience with Burleys Wood has been so positive and has offered my family peace of mind.
My brother is very happy at Burleys Wood therefore my siblings and I have peace of mind knowing that he is being looked after extremely well by trained staff who are professional, friendly and helpful. There is a caring, empathetic, personal feel to the place - I feel that everyone knows him as an individual, not just as a 'client'. Thank you.
I enjoyed her stay Burleys Wood, I settled in really well there and all staff were brilliant! So caring and understanding of all my needs.
I can only describe our experience with Burleys Wood as exemplary. Every member of staff we dealt with, from initial contact, moving in and ultimately, Dad's end-of-life care, was nothing short of outstanding. They took care of everything, including his special dietary needs, liaising with doctors and managing his medication. In spite of his dementia and being doubly incontinent, Dad was always clean and well-shaven, no matter what time of day we visited him. They also kept the family regularly informed which lifted such a lot of stress from us all.
I can not speak highly enough of the care and compassion shown to my aunt whilst in Burleys Wood. They could not do enough to look after my aunt and made her last few weeks as calm and peaceful as they possibly could. Special thanks to the manager who went above and beyond to help us with any problems or queries. Thank you again.
My mum came to Burley’s Wood for respite care over 6 months ago, which then turned into her becoming a permanent resident. I can’t say enough good things about the team that work there. From the moment we arrived, very stressed due to my mum having multiple falls at home, they made us all feel welcome and especially Mum. It was upsetting for my mum to one day be at home and then into new unfamiliar surroundings. However, the team have made the transition easy and the level of care is outstanding. The attention to detail when there has been an issue with Mum has been exceptional. Myself and my sisters visit regularly and on every occasion we are made to feel at home. There is an atmosphere of calm and also fun as they have a varied entertainment programme from singing, gardening and trips out. We know as a family that Mum is safe and we no longer have to worry about her being alone. Thank you to all the team that help every day with not only my mum’s care but everyone else’s.
Dad came here after a lengthy hospital stay as part of respite. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the caring nature. The residents are clearly well cared for. Security is watertight, in a dementia facility this is top priority. Within 90 minutes of Dad arriving, he had a seizure. The staff were very quick in dealing with things. Bravo. Food is very varied and cups of tea or coffee are plentiful. Residents are encouraged to sit at the table. Good idea. Activities are varied and fun. The rooms are sweet, compact and very clean. They even have monitors placed on the floor should a resident fall out of bed or get up during the night. I accidentally set one off sorting some clothes out for Dad, staff were there within seconds. That is the kind of thing you look for when putting your loved ones into a care home. Dad did like the food. He is very fussy and certainly ate far more than in hospital. I'll miss the staff and residents, as will Dad.
I am pleased as to the way my sister-in-law is cared for.
I'm very impressed with Burleys Wood Care Home. My father is 99 and has been loving his time at Burleys. The attention to his needs has been outstanding and he enjoys the standard and variety of the food. Keep it up and thank you very much.
I cannot praise the staff and management enough, my dad is looked after to an excellent standard. The staff are friendly, and my dad gets on well with them all. If there was anything I would say my dad does not always get along well with the food, as he is a very plain eater and can struggle with the menu options. The staff work hard, and do a fantastic job and I can’t thank them all enough for looking after my dad.
My mother came to live in Burleys Wood and she very happy there and the family is happy with the care that she gets. All the carers and nice and caring and helpful. The room is very nice and looks out into the garden which she loves.
My aunt was admitted to Burleys Wood for respite care in March 2020 and became a full-time resident just before the pandemic. Most of her family live far way now and the care, support and advice given to us has been fantastic. It is also local enough for her friends to visit her regularly. Team leaders have become like extended family members and the care my Aunty receives is excellent. She is happy, safe and has company; she has many activities to choose from and has her hair and nails done regularly, which she loves! The food is excellent and she is never without a cup of tea! I recently spent quality time with her at the home and it was wonderful to experience all this for myself. The recent addition of the Famileo App has enabled us to create a photographic gazette online and then is printed off by the home. Staff share quality time with Aunty getting to know her even more. A fantastic resource for individuals with dementia. I would highly recommend Burleys Wood.
In general, care is very accommodating and attentive, but needs a bit more training. Management is good. Cleanliness? Depends on who cleans? Needing updating of bedding and curtains. And pay more attention to cleaning of the room and my husband's dentures are always in dirty water.
I am the daughter-in-law of a resident, visited him many times with my mum and sister, as my experience. Staff are very nice and take care of my day, but need to do more extra attention to clean the room especially the floor sticky and need to clean his dentures, because most of the time are not clean and my dad gets sick when it's dirty, must update bed as looks very old. Need to give every day my dad a shower. Thank you very much for the help.
My mother arrived in May 2022 and passed away in the care of Burleys Wood in May 2023. I cannot wholly express how wonderful, caring and compassionate the staff were to my mother. All of the staff, whatever their role was, were exceptional, and they made my mother very happy during the last year of her life. The end-of-life care was truly exceptional - each member of staff showed love, compassion and understanding. They ensured that my mother had a very comfortable and peaceful end. We could not have asked for more at such a difficult time. A wonderful team.
My husband spent a short respite recently to enable me to have a break from full-time caring. The deputy manager and staff could not have been more welcoming and caring. They did their utmost to ensure he felt secure. All contact with the family and friends was welcomed and all staff willingly answered our questions showing understanding and respect. I would be very happy for my husband to have a permanent placement, knowing that he would be well cared for.
Hello, everyone. This care home is absolutely 10-star. The care and professionalism that my mum has received is like having a new family. My mum has been a resident now since February and has settled in so well. She is happy and there is never a dull moment. The carers are extraordinary, they care 1000%, I am so privileged and lucky to have Mum living here. My mum is well fed, cared for and her personal care has improved immensely since being here. She no longer has dizzy falls due to not eating or being dehydrated which can cause UTI's which are top of the list for her. The home itself is welcoming, super clean and feels like you are visiting your own family or friends. The ladies that assist my mum truly care and we are so fortunate. Whenever Mum wants to call me, she can. Mum is dressed well and seems the happiest she has been in months. All the management too and admin ladies update me on any news regarding doctor's visits etc. Well done, you are a great team.
Burleys Wood has been outstanding in recent months. They have always kept us well informed with regard to Mum's care and information about covid etc. We have recently been able to visit again, which has been very encouraging. All the staff have been welcoming and a pleasure to chat with. The office staff have been exemplary.
Burleys Wood take great care of my mother. She was well looked after throughout the pandemic, Mum was isolated in her room when necessary e.g. after returning to the care home after a short visit to the hospital. I am kept well informed when Mum has had a fall, also spilling hot soup on her arm. Overall, Mum is happy and she says she loves the food!
