View Full Details of Cornelius HouseI can't praise all of the staff at Cornelius House highly enough. My aunt and uncle have been residents there now for a couple of months and are so well looked after, the care given to them has been superb and therefore the family have no need to worry about them. The house has been undergoing a refurbishment recently and all the rooms look great. They put on a great deal of activities for the residents which really stimulates them and the food is very good, it always looks delicious. Visitors are always warmly welcomed, I recommend Cornelius House to everyone.
My lovely grandparents have recently come to stay at Cornelius House, and from the moment they arrived, they have been very well looked after and made to feel welcome, the staff here are fantastic! And you can clearly see that they genuinely care about their residents, and enjoy being there. I sleep well at night, knowing they are in very good hands, in a clean and comfortable environment.
From the moment Mum arrived, every member of staff made it a priority to make the transition as easy as possible for both Mum and her family, and their kindness to us all was boundless. Since then no effort has been spared to help Mum settle and become part of the Cornelius House family, and we are always so warmly greeted when we visit. The house is always clean and fresh and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The staff are caring and vigilant and are always aware of any changes in Mum's health or needs. There are a varied range of daily activities and the staff work hard to make sure everyone is included and has time to pursue hobbies and interests at their own level of ability. A daily choice of delicious home-cooked meals is provided, and individual preferences are happily catered for. The staff, in all roles, work as a dedicated, cheerful team providing the very best all-round care for our mum and peace of mind for the family.
The caring ethos and the teamwork among the staff were impressive. Their patience, kindness, and encouragement aided my recovery. The chef's flexibility and personal care coming to discuss my meal plans every day was so nice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cornelius House to any friends as well as coming back myself one day.
Cornelius House Residential Care Home is a wonderfully cosy and homely environment that truly feels like a warm embrace. The staff are exceptionally caring and attentive, consistently going above and beyond to ensure each resident feels valued and supported. Their person-centred approach is evident in every aspect of care, as they meticulously tailor their services to meet individual needs and preferences. The meals are another highlight-delicious and home-cooked, offering both comfort and nutrition with a personal touch. Whether it's adjusting routines or catering to specific dietary needs, the staff are flexible and responsive, making Cornelius House a truly special place where residents can thrive. It's a place where you can feel at ease knowing that your loved ones are not just cared for, but cherished.
My mother-in-law has lived at Cornelius House for nearly four months and I cannot speak highly enough of the outstanding care she has received. The carers are so kind and thoughtful, my husband and I have also been made to feel very welcome whenever we visit, nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent, my mother-in-law is a fussy eater but has praised the meals she has had, and has a good choice. The managers have gone out of their way to help her settle in, she is a very sociable person and has really enjoyed the trips, activities and entertainment on offer. We have just recently enjoyed the summer party with the most fantastic afternoon tea, it was lovely for us to spend the afternoon together enjoying the band in the sun - it felt like home.
This is a very well run and extremely friendly and caring home. I feel I can trust them to care for my husband and when I visit I am always made to feel welcome by the staff and management.
Our experience in dealing with the staff at Cornelius House has been overwhelmingly positive. The managers have clearly set the right ethos which is reflected in the attitude of all the staff. The home is professionally run and the staff are very caring and thoughtful.
My parents are residents at Cornelius House and are receiving the very best of care. Their emotional and physical well-being is understood and supported, the food is excellent and the staff are the very kindest people. Activities keep them mentally and physically active and they have made friends with staff members who seem fully engaged in their lives and their well-being. They feel well looked after and supported.
My mother has been a resident for a few months from the spring of 2023. It was a difficult transition for her from home living and she has needed patient support from the staff at Cornelius House. She has certainly received that. There is a significant and successful effort to support her wishes. Great effort is made to include and engage residents with interesting activities including trips away from the home. Visitors always receive a warm welcome. Overall we have been delighted with care offered.
My stepfather has been taken into the care of the wonderful staff and management of Cornelius house for two weeks now and he has received excellent care both mentally and physically after quite a long stay in hospital and he is now starting to get back to his old self because of the care being given to him by all at the home.
An excellent and caring care home with lovely staff and excellent management, so glad my mother is with Cornelius House where she is very happy and the environment is very positive with various engaging activities.
My mother has been a resident at Cornelius House for six months now and I cannot recommend it more highly and the care she is given is of the highest standard. it is a small care home and so feels more like a 'home'. The staff all go that extra mile and the food is also excellent, very popular with my mother!
My mum was a resident here for almost two and a half years before she passed away in January. There is a full range of social activities on offer at Cornelius House Care Home and Mum chose to join in with almost all of them and enjoyed spending time doing drawing, painting, clay modelling, bingo, board games, exercise classes, carpet bowls, carpet darts, flower arranging (and probably other things I didn't see) as well as being provided with word searches and other activities to do at other times. She particularly enjoyed all the carefully prepared meals and homemade cakes. Cornelius House is a relatively small care home. As a result, it feels homely rather than institutional. There is an amazing staff team, most of whom have worked at Cornelius for a long time. They are very caring and we are grateful in particular for their amazing care and support for her in her last days.
My mother was a resident here for nearly two years before she passed away in December. Throughout her time there she was exceptionally well cared for by the wonderful team of carers and other staff. The respect and love shown to her by the staff were lovely to see. Her final days were handled with enormous care and respect, and at all times we were completely comfortable that she was happy and content to be there. Mum chose to spend a lot of time in her own room, rather than joining others in the many and varied activities offered. The staff respected this, whilst ensuring that she was aware of what was available. The ethos of the home is that the staff are working in the home of the residents and that this is a privilege. The staff were also very caring of me and my family, ensuring that we were well informed about Mum and comfortable with any specific care she needed. We are so glad that Mum was able to spend her last days surrounded by such a lovely team of caring people.
My mother has resided at Cornelius House for just over five years and has been extremely well cared for by the care manager and her fine team of nurses, carers, caterers, and cleaners. The home is always welcoming, warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and well-maintained. The support staff are caring, efficient and dedicated, often in trying circumstances. Well done everybody, we do appreciate the consistently high standards.
We moved Mum into Cornelius House late 2020, right in the middle of Covid. We were impressed with all the precautions that had been taken and the move went smoothly. Since then Mum has enjoyed all the creature comforts offered by Cornelius House and we couldn't be happier knowing she is being looked after so well. The chef always makes sure mealtimes are plentiful, and the staff are always arranging different activities for the residents to keep them occupied and their minds active. Cleanliness and hygiene are always top priority and Mum always looks (and smells) really nice. All in all the home is run by people who care and the staff are wonderful. I guess you could say it really is a "Care Home" in the true meaning.
My father entered Cornelius House in July 2021 after suffering a couple of falls at home and becoming frailer and finding it difficult to cope, particularly during the pandemic. He was very reluctant to leave his own home and missed it terribly at first, but with the excellent care he is receiving at Cornelius House he is very settled and happy there. Heather runs a fantastic team. Everybody is so friendly and the level of professionalism and care is exemplary. My father is not always the easiest man, but the staff understands him well and he now feels so comfortable with everybody and enjoys joining in with the many activities. The homemade cooked food there is also excellent. He suffered terribly from loneliness during the lockdown, and so really enjoys the company and hubbub of life in the home. It really does feel like home from home. He had to have a brief hospital stay recently and was just longing to get back to his room. Cornelius House really is a lovely place.
Both my parents live at Cornelius House receiving first-class care in all respects. The staff are wonderful, caring and competent, nothing is too much trouble. There are numerous activities to keep residents busy or, like my mum, they can sit on the sunny terrace with a good book. I would not hesitate to recommend Cornelius House to anyone.
Cornelius House was recommended to us and we are delighted with the care the staff are giving our aunt. Moving from her home and acknowledging that she required more support was never going to be easy for her but the warmth, sensitivity, and care she has received helped her settle in swiftly. She prefers not to join in the activities provided but is enjoying the attention and interaction with the caring staff, and most of all, the personal interest the chef has taken to understand and accommodate her dietary preferences. We have been impressed by the management and leadership at Cornelius House, especially through the Covid period. As relatives, we receive regular updates about the care home’s activities and timely feedback on our aunt’s care.
