View Full Details of St George's LodgeMy mum was in St George's for 18 months. The whole atmosphere of the home is happy and positive. Staff are friendly, polite and always smiling. There are almost daily activities (which Mum chose not to attend, despite their encouragement). The personal care is excellent e.g. towels changed regularly and even toothbrushes checked every 6 months! Staff adapted to Mum's increasing needs and made referrals when required. They provided special foods when she appeared to be lactose intolerant and put in a 90th party for her and family in the lounge. They really knew Mum and understood her 'ways' e.g. she could be quite demanding and attention-seeking. They encouraged her to walk and accompanied her on a circuit. Whenever I was there (mostly 3 times a week) they were very caring and gentle with her. Visiting times are relaxed and I was always offered tea and cake if I timed my visit well. The manager knows all the residents well and their families and friends. Highly recommend.
St George's Lodge is a beautiful bright happy home. Mum has been there now for several years and has been treated so well with so much care and kindness. The staff are excellent and make us very welcome when we visit. We are so pleased we found St George's, and so is Mum. The rooms are all very pretty and bright, the dining room is just lovely, with lots of light overlooking the garden. If you need a care home, please just go along for a chat and you will see how good it is. Their standards of care and commitment are excellent. As you will see from all of the reviews there is much more - the fun and games and entertainment, with many people coming in to sing, play music, and all sorts of inventive games to cater for everybody's needs. We can't thank the staff enough.
Thank you so much to the manager and all the staff at St George’s Lodge for looking after my brother after a stay in hospital for respite care. The care you all gave him was fantastic and he really enjoyed his stay with you. He said the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful. The room was warm and comfortable. The standard of care and cleanliness is second to none throughout the whole home. Once again, thank you all and no doubt he will return at some point in the future.
I would just like to thank St George's Lodge (all the staff including catering etc) for all the love and care they have given to Mum. It’s a lovely happy caring home they go above and beyond to make Mum happy comfortable warm well fed and cared for. There are lots of extra things games entertainment fun events and outside visits if you are able. Once again thank you all.
I went to the Christmas party with my Dad. It was absolutely amazing. It felt like one giant family party. With nearly all the residents attending, some with family. A lot of the staff were there too. It really was a great afternoon with entertainment food and drinks available. Obviously, a lot of effort went into organising it. Which shows how much care and attention goes into the home in general. I would highly recommend St George’s Lodge for anyone looking for somewhere for their loved ones.
St George's Lodge is warm and homely. The care and attention my dad receives is excellent. We are always made welcome when visiting and nothing seems too much trouble to sort. We are really happy we found St George's.
My aunt has been a resident for a few years and during that entire time she has received the very best of care and attention. Love her as I do, she can sometimes exhibit some challenging behaviour, but all of staff deal with it all with patience and a smile. The home is so comfortable and scrupulously clean. At 95 years of age, I am confident that Auntie is very well cared for, so I have no worries as to her wellbeing. The staff go above and beyond.
Mum has lived at St George’s for 18 months. It’s a lovely home. Beautifully decorated and looked after and clean. The staff are really friendly and happy and the day-to-day running is very efficient. Mum is very well looked after and content. I’m always welcomed in a very friendly way by the staff and often they’ll offer me a cup of tea, even if it’s not tea time. There is also good parking which makes visiting stress-free. Overall, I think St George’s was a great choice for Mum and the manager and her team do a great job!
My mother has been at St George's Lodge since the summer of 2022, about 18 months. Throughout this time she has received very good care and is physically well. She feels very safe and comfortable there, with a nice airy room which is pleasant to visit. I visit regularly and the staff are always welcoming, professional and respectful of Mum and her wishes. It is clear from the visitors book there are plenty of visitors to the home. The home and Mum's room are always very clean and well-presented. The garden and lounge are very nice and, although Mum doesn't take advantage as much as she could, you often see residents in the lounge or in the garden in the warmer weather. Overall, we are very pleased with St George's Lodge and Mum seems very settled and comfortable.
Our Dad will shortly be entering his 3rd year at the Lodge. He is happy there and especially likes the garden area and if not raining is likely to be outside during the day. He frequently uses the library which has a good selection of books. Although activities occur most days mainly in the lounge area Dad often abstains although the staff do encourage he participates. Dad has chosen to have his meals in his room and again staff do encourage him to use the dining room (mainly for the main meal at lunchtime). Food is plentiful and excellent, with wine etc available in the dining room. Dad has an assisted bath once a week and the kind staff dry his hair for him. A visiting hairdresser cuts his hair. The two summer parties were great fun and well attended by relatives. Staff at the Lodge are always cheerful and pleasant, this includes everyone (Managers, carers, chefs, handyman and cleaners). The Lodge is always spotless and warm with a welcoming atmosphere.
My mother has been carefully looked after by the staff at St George’s Lodge. She has received good care and continues to since 2018. Mother has some challenging characteristics and is disabled, which developed naturally after entering the home. This is sometimes challenging, and I am very grateful to the staff who deal with her muted responses as well as possible, especially because she is almost 93 and bedridden for the most part. I noted that she was given a good opportunity to join the others in the lounge recently, even though, usually, she is resistant. Mother is well-fed, clean, comfortable and monitored as much as possible.
Mum was discharged from a three week stay in hospital directly to St George's Lodge, initially for a couple of months respite, becoming a permanent resident after 4 or so months. The team went out of their way to visit her in hospital to check that she would be happy at the home. The care team are very friendly and caring, not just for the residents, but for their visitors too. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. Mum is encouraged and helped to carry on with some of her outside activities, including attending church and other social groups. It is a very happy home with a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. Mum is so well cared for, with dignity and respect, and I would be very happy to recommend St George's Lodge to anyone seeking this level of care. In fact, I would quite like to book my room for the future now!
My dad is a resident at St George's. It's such a lovely home, and the staff are very friendly and also very professional. My dad is very well cared for, and we are very happy we were recommended this home.
Mum has been a resident at St George’s since last summer and settled in very quickly thanks to the wonderful, attentive staff. It is such a huge relief to know our mum is happy, safe, content and extremely well cared for. The home is always spotless, the gardens beautifully kept, and the staff are warm and welcoming. They have been under immense pressure but are always so cheerful. Our family is so grateful for the care Mum gets under such difficult circumstances whilst always adhering strictly to the Covid guidelines to keep our loved ones safe. Thank you, St George’s
Mum has been a resident at St George's since February 202, just three weeks before lockdown. I am so pleased that we found St George's and that Mum moved there when she did - I live 2-hours away, and it has been a huge relief knowing that Mum is being so well looked after, and I don't need to worry about how she is doing and that she is safe and well. The staff have been fantastic throughout this period, and it is a testament to their hard work and diligence that the residents have been kept safe and well in such unprecedented times. Due to the distance, it has also been so useful to be able to use technology to speak to Mum and see how she is doing. Thank you so much to you all.
My review covers the last 3-years because my father and I have nothing but praise for all the staff at St George’s Lodge. We were lucky that Dad went into the home before Covid, so we can remember a different time. However, throughout this pandemic, which has been difficult for residents, staff and families, it has been made so much easier for us to cope knowing that our loved ones are being kept safe and cared for by such caring, diligent, hardworking staff. A big thank you to you all.
My father has been resident in this unit since April 2021 and has been incredibly well looked after. The home is immaculately clean. The rooms are very clean. It is beautifully designed and looks more like a posh B&B rather than a care home. The facilities are excellent. The staff go out of their way to look after the patient and are always thoroughly helpful to relatives. They coped amazingly well during the lockdown period with no adverse health outcomes to any resident at all. This is a huge testament to the staff. It’s a lovely home, and I’m delighted that we managed to secure a space for my father.
My mother moved to St George’s Lodge last May, she left her beloved Norfolk to move to be nearer the family. The change was enormous for Mum. The staff have been very patient and kind, allowing Mum to settle at her own pace. One member of staff even got library books about Norfolk for Mum to read. Mum has a lovely room, which is kept very clean. The decor throughout the home is modern and of a very high standard. The carers have really tried hard to enable Mum to feel part of the St George’s community, and I can confidently say that she now is happy and content. I have been very satisfied with how Covid compliant the team has been during these difficult times. I have not rated the food 5-stars as Mum is often not keen, as a great cook herself, she comments on the food often, apparently the curry, cream cakes and fish and chips are great - praise indeed. As a Social Worker of 25-years, I have visited 100’s of care homes and feel very confident that Mum is living in one of the best.
The last two years have been difficult for everyone, but nothing compared to the staff that have looked after the residents in the home. They, as with others on the front line, deserve medals in recognition of the outstanding service that they have supplied. Through thick and thin, they still manage a joke and are always smiling - they are an outstanding bunch of people, who I shall be forever in their debt for keeping my mother and all the residents safe. St George’s is warm, welcoming and a pleasure to visit. The food is excellent with beautiful homemade cakes on offer, wine or fortified wine if you want, as well. The rooms are like home from home. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this home, might even reserve myself a room; hopefully, that will be a few years down the line though! Basically, great staff, great atmosphere, great food, kind and loving staff who really care about the residents.
I spent a few months respite at St George's Lodge; I had a lovely room. The carers were very kind and helped me with my rehab. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I felt safe and was very happy there.
