View Full Details of Highgrove House Care HomeAfter more than two years as a volunteer at this excellent care home, I want to share what I enjoy about the home. My role has been to lead fortnightly painting sessions as a volunteer, after my retirement as a mental health nurse specializing in dementia care. The environment at Highgrove House Care Home is designed to meet the needs of people with dementia. There is good signposting and reminders around the house to keep people in touch with the time, date and place where they are living, with attention to the seasons and relevant calendar events. Photographs and artwork are placed to encourage conversation with the residents which helps to orientate them and helps them to feel part of a home. The residents are kept in touch with the community through regular community events where they, their families and volunteers come together. The care team is motivated and committed because of energetic and skilful leadership.
A very well-managed home-from-home care home. Plenty of entertainment and interaction from the staff. Good quality food which is varied with choices. All the staff we have met are very professional and there doesn't seem to be a high turnaround of staff which makes the stay less anxious for our father. Family members are welcome to visit anytime with no time limit restraints.
When I was looking for a care home for my mum, Highgrove House was the first one that we visited and we were so impressed by the friendly staff, homely feel, and cleanliness that we didn’t need to visit anymore. My mum who is 101 years old has been a resident for 2.5 years and the care she has received has been excellent. The staff are always friendly, making her laugh and encouraging her to get involved with the various activities that they provide. The food is all homemade and the chef understands all the resident's needs. When it was her 100th birthday they held a garden party for the family and all the residents joined in with afternoon tea and a special birthday cake, the mayor came as well! The care home has arranged various outings which the residents enjoy, along with with their family and friends.
My mother moved into Highgrove a few months ago. She has dementia and I was concerned it would be hard for her to settle into a different environment. Fortunately the care and attention to detail of her needs/routine has meant that she immediately felt at home and is very happy and settled. The staff are outstanding and the effort everyone goes to ensure they have daily activities is really good. It was important for me my mother was in the company/enjoying activities/meal times with other people instead of being in her own room for many hours by herself. The food is outstanding and the chef takes great pride in cooking from scratch with lots of choice. Families and visitors are made very welcome at any time. Her personal care is also excellent and it makes me happy to see her and other residents looking so well cared for, a sign of how attentive and caring the staff are. I feel very fortunate I chose Highgrove House for my mother.
I have medical power of attorney for my uncle. He has been at Highgrove House for 10 months. As a family we have been delighted with the care he has received. The staff are all very caring and personable. The home is very well managed and has a warm, welcoming family atmosphere. There is a varied programme of stimulating activities for residents that my uncle really enjoys. The home-cooked food is also excellent. Residents are treated as individuals and the staff know them all very well. My uncle is extremely happy at Highgrove House and I would highly recommend it.
Wholeheartedly recommend Highgrove House. My mum has been a resident for almost two years, I was impressed by how quickly she settled in and how happy she is there. All staff are friendly, warm, attentive and professional. Way to go team Highgrove!
Highgrove House is a wonderful place, I am so glad that I found it. It has a homely atmosphere, with caring staff who give the place a family feel. They have made mum feel very comfortable and safe. Mum, who sadly has dementia, has taken part in a very wide range of activities since she arrived 6 months ago. She participates and enjoys so much and it’s great to see. Making pasta was a completely new experience for her. The home is lovely and warm, and there is AC in the lounge for hot weather. All areas are kept clean and tidy with no lingering odour issues. The food is excellent and as a result, mum has started eating properly since she arrived. We as visitors get a friendly hospitable welcome, again, like family. If Mum has had any issues, the staff have acted straight away and always let me know. I also feel comfortable raising any concerns with staff and management. Importantly, Mum is happy, healthier, and safer here. Without a doubt, Highgrove House and its staff are excellent!
My mother was a resident at Highgrove House for 20 months and sadly passed away in May 23. She couldn’t have received better care while she was there. The staff are compassionate, kind, and professional. The atmosphere in the home is a very happy, peaceful one. The residents are not left to vegetate but are encouraged to join in with numerous activities and we have attended quite a few events. One of my favourites last year was the small animal afternoon – a great laugh. My mother had a stroke and when she left the hospital, we transferred her from the place she had been 'dumped' to Highgrove, she was bedridden at the time. With care, patients and encouragement they not only got her walking (she was always a very strong-minded woman) but walking without a walking aid. We were always welcomed when we visited, and I take away many happy memories of her final time with us thanks to the staff at Highgrove.
My mum was a resident at Highgrove House Care Home for nearly 3 years. The love and care she received throughout that time was second to none. During the difficult last 2 years the staff remained cheerful and positive and did everything they could to keep families in touch with each other. Unfortunately, my mum passed away last month and again the care and love shown to both my mum and myself was exceptional. I can’t thank the staff enough for all they did.
I have been so impressed and reassured by the professionalism and consideration shown by all of the staff at Highgrove, particularly during these challenging times. The phone has always been answered promptly and it has been lovely to hear about all of the stimulating activities put on by the staff for the residents. I know my friend enjoyed the indoor gardening in particular. Thank you.
My nan lived at Highgrove House Care Home for a good few years. The staff were all so lovely and really helped her to settle in, making it feel like home for her. They always did lots of different activities, with people coming in to do some singing with them or some arts and crafts. They also held days where everyone, including relatives, could come for a BBQ, some games and even to watch a panto at Christmas time. I was very lucky to of found such a lovely home for my nan to move into and they were not only there for my nan but were also there for myself as well. Any questions, concerns or worries and the staff would be more than helpful. They kept me informed of everything and treated everyone like family. My nan spent her last days at Highgrove House Care Home and she couldn’t have been looked after or made more comfortable than what she already was. Staff were there to support me and the family through my nan's last days and this will never be forgotten. Thank you.
My dear friend resided with you from November 2019, sadly she passed away this month. From the beginning of her time with you, she was welcomed into the loving family atmosphere of Highgrove. I went around many other care homes searching for the right one and really struck gold when I found Highgrove. From the very first interview I had with them they were professional and caring and I knew that my friend would be happy here. She loved joining in with all the activities provided and had such fun. Throughout her stay, I was kept informed of her wellbeing without having to chase. I cannot thank or praise the team enough for their amazing care and how they all cherished and loved her.
Mum passed away in September 2020, but I know that mum's life was extended and enriched by moving to Highgrove House five years ago. To put it simply, she was so well-loved by all there and so well looked after, she lived far longer with the soul-destroying Alzheimer's than she would have in her own home. Her final months, during Covid, were with her friends and, what had become, her 'family'. Thank you.
Highgrove Care Home is the most wonderful place and I cannot recommend it highly enough; from the warm welcome at the front door to the beautiful individual rooms and the caring, compassionate nature of every member of the dedicated staff. When my mum came here just over a year ago she settled in quickly, loving every moment and joining in with the daily activities and making new friends. She laughed a lot and was happy; something that was, for my sisters and I, a joy to behold. When she had a devastating stroke in early November, the love, kindness and professionalism with which they nursed her through her final days was second to none. My sisters and I will be forever grateful that we found this wonderful place for our beloved Mum to live even though it was for such a short time.
I cannot recommend this care home highly enough. The staff treated my mother with nothing but respect and care. She loved being there and the staff truly loved her too. My mother passed away in November during the Covid pandemic (from non-related issues) and the staff did absolutely everything they could to make her final days memorable for all the right reasons. More than that they treat relatives brilliantly too. I was always met with the offer of cake and a cup of tea or coffee and while my mum was slowly leaving us all, they looked after myself and my sister like we were residents ourselves. They sent photos and videos of my mum taking part in activities and handled the whole pandemic with care and sensitivity. Their communication was excellent and the direct input from the owners made it all the more personal. The rooms are well-appointed, large and bright and my mother had a lovely en-suite bathroom. It was just like a beautiful caring home.
My mother was much happier after I moved her to Highgrove House, inside its so homely and comfortable like the hotels she stayed in with her late husband. She was well cared for, treated kindly. The food was really good and she enjoyed taking part in most activities. She was fond of her carers, patiently staff engaged and chatted. The few issues I had were handled and dealt with professionally by the manager.
A wonderful caring environment. My father was there for a year and was provided with a quality of life way beyond what could have been expected
My mother was a resident here for 6 years, up to her death. We compared with 3 other homes, and only one came close. The main reasons for the choice was home cooked food and the activities on offer. Frankly, I assumed she would be there less than 6 months, but whilst they can't work miracles, good personalised care led to her getting stronger and hence the few extra years. They were ALWAYS welcoming to visitors. They did a very good job of sensitively making me aware that she was in a decline that might lead to her passing. It certainly felt like the staff did genuinely care for the residents as well as meeting practical needs. I have seen a policy of continuous improvement in the building over the years and I gather more is to come.
How very pleased we were that we chose Highgrove House for my mother when the time came due to her mild dementia and mobility. We had been recommended to view Highgrove but decided to view several other homes as well. The atmosphere is warm and homely with a five star hotel service. The staff are always caring, calm and efficient. My mother enjoys the many activities on offer and the company of the other guests when she's wants to and loves sitting in the beautiful conservatory. I would thoroughly recommend Highgrove.
My mother moved to Highgrove House at the end of 2017. She is very appreciative of the care and kindness she has received, as I am too. I cannot compliment the staff enough.
