View Full Details of RookwoodThe care and attention to detail is fantastic. The staff are caring and friendly, always polite to people and visitors offered tea/coffee in the afternoon.
My Mum moved to Rookwood in July this year following a fall in another care home, due to the care my Mum had received at her previous care home I was initially quite wary of care homes generally, but it soon became apparent to me that I didn't need to worry about my Mums care any longer. Rookwood is an exceptionally well-run care home, the staff are genuinely friendly and kind to their residents and both me and my family feel welcomed when visiting. The activities on offer are wonderful, with lots of variety and fun things going on. The staff is really bubbly and enthusiastic, with regular exercise sessions too, and a lovely resident-focused atmosphere. The food is great with several options for all three meals of the day, Rookwood is spotlessly clean, dining room is laid out beautifully. I have access to care notes, which is great, and also staff ring if there is anything out of the ordinary happening. Most importantly my Mum is very happy here and well cared for. This is a very good care home.
From our very first visit to view Rookwood with our uncle we have been very pleased with the ambience, facilities, management and welfare provided by the whole care home team. Rookwood's communal spaces, outdoor areas and garden are ideal for all the residents to use. A big thank you to the Rookwood team for making our uncle comfortable and content as a permanent Rookwood resident.
Our good friend was treated wonderfully. All staff were warm, friendly, kind and caring. Everywhere was extremely clean and as visitors, we always received a friendly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and any queries were dealt with promptly by the management. The food was of great quality and delivered in an appetising way. I would have no hesitation recommending Rookwood to any friends or family.
Our family are very happy with Rookwood Care Home. Mum has not been here long. She has settled. Although for Mum it took a while to get used to her new home. Which now, she is happy. All the staff are very caring, kind, helpful, and friendly. There is a lovely garden, and the home is welcoming, clean and tidy. Good, traditional home-cooked food. We have peace of mind. Mum is well cared for and safe. We can visit when we like.
My mum stayed at Rookwood for just over two weeks whilst my partner and I were on holiday. We were made to feel very welcome at our initial visit and all questions were answered. Rookwood has a lovely homely feel and the staff are extremely caring and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them in helping Mum to settle in and feel as at home as possible, including helping her with her laptop so she could video call my sister in Canada.
My mum has now been a resident at Rookwood for nearly 2 years and did take a while to settle. I have been very pleased that over the last 12 months she has joined in with more activities during the day and socialising in the lounge too. Any concerns are listened to and acted upon by staff. Recently my mum has suffered some ill health and the care staff have been exceptional. I trust them completely with my mum's care and well-being. Thank you to the whole team.
My mother had a month of respite care at Rookwood. She was looked after extremely well. The staff were amazing with her. The facilities were excellent all the rooms are finished to a high standard. I highly recommend this care home.
Rookwood staff did a brilliant job helping my mother settle in February 2023. It has been reassuring to witness her become more sociable, using the lounge and partaking in activities in the past half year. All the staff I have met have been wonderful, caring and friendly. Mum also loves the garden, which we walk round together whenever I visit. It is good to see the same staff too,
Since my mum became a resident at Rookwood, we have been impressed by the level of care delivered by all staff. The whole atmosphere is one of calm and caring and there are numerous activities, all of which are provided in a clean and well run home. The app information is updated regularly and allows us to keep informed of Mum's daily progress, provides huge reassurance.
Since my mother started residency at Rockwood, she has been treated with great care and respect. The staff are lovely, always smiling and helpful. The staff also try really hard to plan activities that stimulate the residents. The meals are great, and everyone seems to enjoy them. I would recommend Roockwood to anyone.
Rookwood have taken care of my father since September 2022, this was initially as a temporary placement due to my mother being seriously ill. The home have always treated Dad with the utmost dignity and care. Sadly Mum passed away in November 2022, and my brothers and I wondered what we could do that would be the best outcome for our dad. Rookwood supported us and our dad in this very unsettling time. Dad has come to love where he is and the decision for him to stay permanently was made so easy, all the staff welcomed him. A massive thank you to everyone.
Mum went to this home eleven months ago, very reluctantly and frustrated with her loss of independence. She had already lost it but due to dementia couldn't see it. The staff were all very patient, loving, caring and encouraging to her and gradually over time she accepted it as her home. When she became ill she returned from hospital for over two weeks of end-of-life care. The staff all made us feel very welcome at any time, and it was a great comfort to see the excellent care and attention, dignity and respect until she died, and since for us as a family.
A great caring home, my aunt enjoys the food, and activities and always raves about the staff! She’s made so many friends Thank you for the awesome work you all do. She’s been a resident for many years and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else
Positives: Staff have shown good care for Mum, supporting her to settle. They have also shown sensitivity and professionalism throughout her recent ill health and hospital stay. The manager is strong and supports staff well. She replies to correspondence promptly and ensures strong communication throughout. Negatives: Mum feels the activities are poor. She lacks stimulation through group activities. She also does not like staff commenting on the food she has eaten (100% etc).
I have always been impressed with Rookwood Care for Mum, particularly over the last month it has been outstanding. The team have done an amazing job in these extremely difficult times.
I arranged for my mum to have two weeks respite care at Rookwood, partly because of her mobility difficulties due to osteoarthritis, and partly just to "try out" what it would be like if she was to go into a care home full time. Overall, it was a good experience for my mum to have, and I consider that the manager and her team looked after her in a caring and professional manner, thank you. At the end of the day, Mum preferred to be back at her regular home, a cottage in Ditchling, but is now well aware of what staying in a residential home would involve.
My aunt was a resident at Rookwood for over six years. During that time she received high-quality care and also a lot of affection from the staff. I was unable to visit frequently because of living 200 miles away but I always felt confident that she was in good hands. When I was able to visit, I could see for myself that she was well cared for. Whenever an issue arose to do with health or other needs I was always informed immediately. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rookwood to anyone seeking a well-run and caring place for an elderly relative.
My brother, a cancer patient, stayed at Rookwood for respite care. He was cared for so well that even his visitors commented on how amazing the staff were. We all agreed that they were both attentive and efficient. I was the main point of contact, and the proactive nature of their service was incredible. I was notified of all issues of importance. I found the care home to be very professional, and the staff genuinely helpful and caring. My brother gained weight, and his disposition was markedly improved after his short stay of three weeks. The food was excellent and his room very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this care home.
My mother has only been a resident in Rookwood since 1st November 2019 during which time I have been very pleased with all aspects of the home.
