View Full Details of Walstead Place Care HomeMy husband is extremely happy here and very relaxed. The staff are amazing not only in the standard of care they give - which is excellent, but in the kindness they give too. The atmosphere in the home is happy. The staff know all their residents very well and share fun and laughter with them as well as empathy. It is not easy to leave a relative in the care of others but the minute I visited here, I knew it would be exactly right. My son and I feel like part of a big happy family here. Thank you!
Food very good, staff excellent, patients helpful and friendly.
Thank you to everybody at Walstead Place. So friendly and welcoming, you made my stay very pleasurable. I can't believe how every team member knew my name!
Home is well run. Staff are excellent, they work very hard. Residents free to do what they wish, whether to take part in activities or do their own thing. Meals basic but well cooked and tea or coffee offered during the day. As for me they dealt with and resolved my medical problems, so no need to continue as a resident.
We are very pleased with my brother's care. He has been looked after very well. He has settled really well and is happy. My brother has become popular with the staff and other residents. Thank you to all the staff who care for him, for the amazing work they do.
Having broken my ankle and had an operation I came here for a week's respite care. I have been looked after very well by all the people who work here.
Mum has benefitted greatly from her stay at Walstead Place Care Home, following hospital admission. She has enjoyed the activities, especially the singing and impersonator! The staff have always been present, helpful and responsive to any questions from her family and have been kind and compassionate to Mum.
Broadly a satisfactory experience. The staff were generally attentive. Management was very good at dealing with queries and taking action when needed. Flexibility in arrangements was good. The standard of food could be better. The room was light and airy providing a feel-good factor. Delightful gardens. The chiropractor and hairdresser both did a great job. On balance, we would consider returning if the need arises.
Very nice, lovely staff, good food, friendly atmosphere, no hesitation in going again.
Dad went for a week's respite care. Every time we visited he was cheerful, clean, relaxed and comfortable. I would not have any doubts about him going back for future respite care. By the end of the week he was joking with staff as if he had lived there for months. Everyone was helpful, lots of tea or coffee on offer, nothing seemed to be any trouble. A very positive experience. If I'm being fussy, there was a wee smell in the corridor outside his room, but his room was fine.
We are happy overall with the care provided. My aunt particularly enjoys the surrounding gardens and food. I have unfortunately experienced problems with communication in relation to a hospital visit and the setting up of a direct debit to pay for care. Despite this, we are happy with the service and quality of care.
The experience has been very good. I have no complaints. I liked the friendliness of the staff. I was very well looked after. I would definitely come again, this is my second stay.
My mother always appears well turned out, staff have clearly cared for her personal needs. She is increasingly more settled and content despite her level of confusion. The activities are varied and designed to stimulate engagement with life but also are supported by staff to ensure all residents who want to can participate irrespective of their physical or mental capacity. Staff always know where my mother is as soon as I walk through in the door before I even ask! They are fully involved in the personal relationships with their residents. Food is excellent and plentiful. Monitoring of liquids is carried out routinely., The grounds allow for residents to be outside as much as good weather allows and are encouraged to take part in gardening activities such as baskets/planting. Excellent care all round. My mind is always at peace now.
Very welcoming, kind and friendly staff. Clean and lovely rooms. The main meals could have been better.
Provided much-needed help at late notice, showed understanding in practical ways, and allowed me to also help myself. Gave a beautiful room with lovely views which was part of healing. Care is the most important part of your work which was excellent. My thanks to you all.
Respond well and quickly, day and night, to call button for help and always cheerful and going the extra distance. Food varied and tasty. Chose to come here as first choice after previous respite care.
The facilities were adequate and clean when I arrived. As far as I know, maintenance cleaning was done during my stay. Bedlinen was changed during my stay as necessary. Appliances, TV, and central heating were reliable. Personal attention was very well done. Call out times and repair durations were reasonable.
The accommodation is lovely now. Update has made a big difference. As always admin and care staff are all excellent. My mother enjoys her stays and is always made to feel special. The entertainment/activity team are also very kind and humorous and come up with some imaginative themes. It is an all-around good experience for my mum.
Following a nasty fall and a ten-month stay in hospital, my cousin became a resident at Walstead. Thanks to the very warm welcome from the staff and residents she settled straight away. She loved to join in with activities, especially carpet bowels! I can't express highly enough how caring the staff are nothing is too much trouble. Sadly almost five years to the day my cousin passed away with two wonderful carers by her side. Walstead is a wonderful place for your loved ones.
My wife arrived here three weeks ago from the hospital after fracturing her pelvis in two places when she fell in the garden. She could hardly walk when we brought her in, in a wheelchair. Three weeks later she walked out with just a little help from her frame. This is all the result of good respite care and encouragement from the staff to get her up and walking. Thank you all very much.
