View Full Details of Aliwal Manor Care HomeA happy caring atmosphere with excellent team and facilities - my wife is well cared for, which gives me peace of mind.
Aliwal Manor has been a God send after Mum needed 24-hour Alzheimer's care. She has been there now for two years and even though the disease is getting worse the staff cannot do enough for her. They are very proactive in any medical issues and update me at every step. I highly recommend Aliwal Manor for your loved ones.
The staff are friendly and responsive. The atmosphere when I visit is positive and relaxed. I am informed promptly of any issues arising.
I was present when two younger staff members were on duty recently. One regular routine was undertaken with total respect for several residents. It was so good to see such calm encouragement given to complete 'weigh-in' procedures that morning. It was lovely to see a little fun and smiles added into a serious situation. One not always straight-forward. Nothing seemed a problem and everything done quite naturally. Many thanks.
I have always found Aliwal Care Home to be caring and considerate with dignity. The staff have changed a lot this year and had a hiccup, but is back on course now. The new staff are friendly and approachable. Both parents are under their care and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone considering. Clean and tidy, good meals and caring staff.
Particularly like the separate break-out rooms. As I have no internet access or access to a computer I sometimes miss out on activities that are shared in this way.
I had a review today with the deputy manager along with my sister. It was good to get feedback on how my mum and dad were doing from their day to day routine. It also allowed us to ask questions and were given good answers. The home is making some positive changes. I feel my parents are getting very good care and that they have the best interests of the residents at heart. Activities are improving, as they dwindle off for a short while. Overall, it is a lovely care home. The staff are always friendly when we visit.
I had to tell my mum that her younger brother had passed, as although she has dementia, she always asks if I've seen him. I told the manager and she was very helpful and supportive when telling my mum. She made sure that all the staff were aware. I left knowing that Mum would be okay if she got upset or asked anything.
Since my uncle arrived at Aliwal Manor Care Home he has been a different person, eating good food, excellent staff and really good entertainment. We realised my uncle was at the stage where he needed more care and Aliwal has made the transition work brilliantly. We now know the correct care home was chosen and thank everyone for the time and help and understanding of my uncle's needs. We are always made to feel welcome when we visit and all the staff put us at ease. My uncle really loves being at Aliwal which puts our family at ease.
Great little home. Friendly staff. Mother is very happy and looked after well.
Aliwal Manor Care Home is a proper care home. You don’t need a million-pound exterior to provide quality care. Care is about looking after individual needs, well-being, happiness and love. It’s not about ticking boxes for CQC ratings, it’s about making elderly, vulnerable people a new home where they feel safe and loved.
My grandmother is a new resident at Aliwal Manor Care Home. Our first impressions were that the home is clean and smells nice, modern decor with a homely feel. The staff are very kind and helpful with a genuine interest in residents' well-being. The home is well-run, everything was explained and discussed with the family. So far, everything we have experienced and witnessed has been positive and we are thankful that a difficult decision has been made comforting and reassuring.
After being very apprehensive about Mum settling into her new surroundings, I am more than happy with the care and friendliness she has received from the lovely staff. The home is lovely, 'a real home from home'.
Very impressed with the level of care. The home is spotlessly clean. I cannot speak highly enough about the manager and staff at Aliwal; they are all amazing. Thank you.
My elderly friend and neighbour first visited Aliwal Manor Care Home last summer for respite while I was away on holiday. This was followed by her becoming a full time resident at the end of the summer. She has settled in very well and we find the home to be very comfortable and caring. The food and entertainment is very good and the communication is excellent. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anybody looking for a caring home from home environment.
The home is very good. All the carers and staff are all really helpful and attentive. I am happy with the care of my mother.
My mother was very nervous when first arriving, this was the second home we tried. There were tears when we left her. Two weeks respite later she was happy and smiling. 24-hour care got too much for me so arranged a second respite time. By the end of that, she now has two places called home. My house and Aliwal. She is happy and the staff have got her involved much more with the others. No pressure just enthusiasm, caring and understanding. Wholeheartedly recommend to anyone. Thanks Aliwal!
Everything is excellent.
I have no complaints.
Very good.
