View Full Details of The Chestnuts Residential Care HomeMum is still settling in very well considering her condition. All staff and management are caring, friendly, polite and positive. I would recommend this care home. It is lovely.
Following the recent death of our mother we were told by management that it is policy for them to attend funerals of all residents . We were very disappointed on the day when nobody from the home attended .We were not informed prior to the funeral and also no card or flowers were sent either. When we asked we were told they were attending a care show .To us this seemed very disrespectful and we were made to feel that mum didn't matter anymore . Also on a recent hospital appointment mum was not accompanied by any staff member from the home and on arrival became very upset and disoriented. On a more positive note the care staff were very hard working and always polite and treat mum really well .When we moved mum to the Chesnuts we had very high hopes and initially we were very pleased .However we feel that towards the end and particularly after mums death things changed and mum was not given the respect she deserved.
Absolutely amazing family run home where all staff are exceptional! They allow us to turn up when we want no matter what time. Everyone is friendly and encouraged to mix with other residents. The facilites are great, rooms are clean and the residents well cared for. It has such a friendly feel and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The owner and his family are amazing people and they have regular full time staff so everyone gets to know everyine in a personal level. My mum has dementia and i feel so happy knowing she is safe and well looked after. I know all the staff and they always have big smiles on their faces. I would recommened this home to anyone in the Wisbech and surrounding area. No one wants to put a family member into care but sometimes there is no other choice. We went to lots of homes in the area and this one had an instant feeling of relief when we spoke to the owner. He guided the family through the process of getting our mum into this home.
Very good care home. Staff always very helpful and kind, as is management. Care seems to be very good. Food also seems good. I have no negative thoughts on the matters whatsoever.
Mum has been a resident for approaching 8 years now. Very kind and understanding staff and management. Always helpful, Mum's care being paramount. Have frequently recommended The Chestnuts to friends and associates alike.
My Mother-in-law has been in The Chestnuts since Sep 2024 She is very happy here. She's well looked after and cared for The Staff are all amazing. So kind and caring. They always have time for her which she loves Super clean, really modern and beautiful surroundings We are so happy we chose Chestnuts - we visit every day between us and are always made to feel welcome Also the coffee and cake is delicious. We able to visit any time of the day and can take her out for walks too which is lovely Thanks to everyone at Chestnuts. We love you :-)
My mother was in The Chestnuts in January/February 2024 for respite care. She decided to return to her home with carers attending to her needs 3 times a day. In December 2024 it became clear that Mum could no longer look after herself and after several conversations Mum decided to go into The Chestnuts permanently. There are no alternatives for Mum, it HAD to be The Chestnuts!!
Pleasant surroundings now renovation is completed. Lovely staff. Drink offered during visiting. Nice TV room for a visit.
Absolutely beautiful home. The staff are on a whole new level they are your friend as well as your care giver. The Christmas party they have put on was incredible. I am genuinely thankful for them all and for how they treat my grandad and make it truly his home.
Couldn't have wished for a nicer care home for my mum. Sadly she passed away after only three months of being there, but during this time was treated with so much love and care. The staff are lovely and are like one big family, would highly recommend this home.
My father moved to The Chestnuts due to being in the final stages of his Parkinson's and needing quite high care needs. Unfortunately, my dad was only there for seven weeks when he passed away, but he received exceptional care from all the staff. The support that all my family received from the owner and the management team was incredible, and nothing was too much trouble. We were apprehensive about Dad going into care, but I would honestly say to anyone that is thinking about The Chestnuts not to feel this way. My dad was given the best care in his final days, which has given us peace in this difficult time. Thank you to everyone at The Chestnuts.
The owner and his staff at the Chestnuts, together, gave the best and most suitable care to my mother, who was at a time in her life when companionship and friendliness meant more than can be explained. I didn’t think she would like it and for the years she was a resident, it was a constant surprise to me that there wasn’t a falling out or major upheaval. All testament to proper care correctly given which made for a happy home with staff and residents alike. After a very brief stay in Hospital, my mother was allowed to return to the Chestnuts to spend the last period of her life in a familiar, homely, pleasant place. Thanks to the owner and all the staff. I did ask if I could book in, in case there was a waiting list but the owner said not just yet!
I had occasion to need residency in a Care Home to get ready for a serious spinal operation, and because of local recommendations, I chose "The Chestnuts, Wisbech" as my home for three months, initially to get ready for the op., and subsequently to recover after the op. I had absolutely no cause to regret this, as I record unfailing good care by all the largely female staff, who following the op. looked after my physical, mental, and drug needs beautifully, I was also able to observe the care given to the many older residents, those with a measure of Dementia, or simply the very old, who were treated sympathetically however much attention they required. The Owner/Manager is a hands-on manager who is personally active both in training his staff and in caring for his residents. He and his senior assistants successfully reduced my Morphine intake to zero over a few weeks after the op. (I had previously needed 120mg/day for pain control).
