View Full Details of The Chestnuts Residential Care HomeMy mother was in The Chestnuts in January/February 2024 for respite care. She decided to return to her home with carers attending to her needs 3 times a day. In December 2024 it became clear that Mum could no longer look after herself and after several conversations Mum decided to go into The Chestnuts permanently. There are no alternatives for Mum, it HAD to be The Chestnuts!!
Pleasant surroundings now renovation is completed. Lovely staff. Drink offered during visiting. Nice TV room for a visit.
Absolutely beautiful home. The staff are on a whole new level they are your friend as well as your care giver. The Christmas party they have put on was incredible. I am genuinely thankful for them all and for how they treat my grandad and make it truly his home.
Couldn't have wished for a nicer care home for my mum. Sadly she passed away after only three months of being there, but during this time was treated with so much love and care. The staff are lovely and are like one big family, would highly recommend this home.
My father moved to The Chestnuts due to being in the final stages of his Parkinson's and needing quite high care needs. Unfortunately, my dad was only there for seven weeks when he passed away, but he received exceptional care from all the staff. The support that all my family received from the owner and the management team was incredible, and nothing was too much trouble. We were apprehensive about Dad going into care, but I would honestly say to anyone that is thinking about The Chestnuts not to feel this way. My dad was given the best care in his final days, which has given us peace in this difficult time. Thank you to everyone at The Chestnuts.
The owner and his staff at the Chestnuts, together, gave the best and most suitable care to my mother, who was at a time in her life when companionship and friendliness meant more than can be explained. I didn’t think she would like it and for the years she was a resident, it was a constant surprise to me that there wasn’t a falling out or major upheaval. All testament to proper care correctly given which made for a happy home with staff and residents alike. After a very brief stay in Hospital, my mother was allowed to return to the Chestnuts to spend the last period of her life in a familiar, homely, pleasant place. Thanks to the owner and all the staff. I did ask if I could book in, in case there was a waiting list but the owner said not just yet!
I had occasion to need residency in a Care Home to get ready for a serious spinal operation, and because of local recommendations, I chose "The Chestnuts, Wisbech" as my home for three months, initially to get ready for the op., and subsequently to recover after the op. I had absolutely no cause to regret this, as I record unfailing good care by all the largely female staff, who following the op. looked after my physical, mental, and drug needs beautifully, I was also able to observe the care given to the many older residents, those with a measure of Dementia, or simply the very old, who were treated sympathetically however much attention they required. The Owner/Manager is a hands-on manager who is personally active both in training his staff and in caring for his residents. He and his senior assistants successfully reduced my Morphine intake to zero over a few weeks after the op. (I had previously needed 120mg/day for pain control).
