View Full Details of Waterbeach LodgeMy brother has spent 4 weeks in respite care. He found the staff very helpful and accommodating. He did find the food varied and not always to his taste and did not always get what he ordered. The environment and entertainment were excellent as were the well-kept grounds. He definitely improved mentally and physically from his stay.
Mum moved into the home last August, and after a settling-in period, she is happy and well looked after. She often comments on how friendly the staff are. The food is good and varied. It was unfortunate one lady left the position of activities coordinator, but I'm sure things will pick up again once her replacement is appointed. I'm happy that Mum is living in a place where she is safe, secure and comfortable.
My mother came into the home on the 13th November 2023. We found both the management and staff to be most welcoming on her arrival and have been kind and understanding towards her during her residency. Her own room and all other areas of the home are kept clean. The meals always appear to be of a good quality, with a varied choice of menu. My mother seems to be very happy and has settled in well.
My mother spent 18 months at Waterbeach Lodge until her death in January 2024. She received very good care throughout. The staff were always professional approachable and kind. The management team were always immediately responsive to me when I made any enquiry regarding Mum. They spotted any change in Mum's health rapidly and responded very appropriately during her stay there. In her last illness, the care she received was exceptionally good. I cannot thank them enough for this and all her care over the previous 18 months when Waterbeach Lodge was her home.
Staff keep me informed of my husband's well-being, reporting any changes and what changes or possible changes are being considered to help him. Staff in general are kind and make an effort to communicate with him in passing.
The care of the residents is outstanding, they are treated with respect and dignity. There is also the support of relatives, especially at difficult times. The atmosphere is always cheerful and the staff are always helpful.
My father-in-law was not necessarily the easiest resident but the staff coped admirably with him. There were a few times when his hygiene (especially mouth care) could have been better, but the overall level of care was very good. When he was dying the staff were exceptionally caring and supportive.
My mum moved in to Waterbeach Lodge in March 2021. From the start, Mum was made very welcome by the manager and staff and settled in as the months progressed under the restrictions of Covid-19. There has been an unchanging core team of staff during the year which I believe is a good sign. The food is good and the facilities, decor and ambience make Waterbeach Lodge feel more like a hotel. Mum has been encouraged to join in with the in-house activities and outings.
Waterbeach Lodge is a wonderfully caring and compassionate place. My father was immediately cared for as a family member. The whole team contributed which created a holistic and excellent level of care. I could not speak more highly of the care home.
My mum has been a resident at Waterbeach Lodge for the past two years. I have always found the staff and management to be excellent. During the pandemic, the staff worked extremely hard to ensure residents were kept safe.
My brother-in-law lived at Waterbeach Lodge from August 2017 to November 2021. His dementia got ever worse and his care needs were ever more demanding. He received exemplary care throughout, right until the end. Thank you to the manager and every one of your caring colleagues.
The carers are always so patient, caring and kind. The home is clean and the food is very good. Entertainment takes place regularly. Staff are approachable and friendly. Very happy I chose this home for mum. She has been a resident for 2 1/2 years.
Mum’s been resident on the 2nd-floor Dementia Unit (The Willows) for over two years, reassuringly settling very quickly due to ambience, friendly, caring and warming nature of all staff. Mum has made numerous new friends, is never alone and reassuringly, there is always a member of staff close at hand, monitoring and ensuring mum is safe, in a safe environment and being cared for 24/7. Medication is arranged by the home and is administered by trained staff. An entertainment’s coordinator arranges daily activities for all residents. Layout, colour themes and sensory nature of the Dementia Unit makes all the residents feel at home and at ease, wide hallway is adorned with sensory foliage, and greenery images disguising lifts and exits, pastel-coloured bedroom doors, with resident name and room no and made to look like a typical high street, with shop, restaurant, PO, Bridal Boutique and vinyl cobbled street. The care home is set in a rural location, offset from the main road, with driveway and modern stately home appearance.
After several periods of respite, my dad chose to stay at Waterbeach Lodge. He enjoys that there is always so much going on and that the staff are so friendly, attentive, caring and helpful. We have been impressed by the responsiveness of staff and their knowledge and interest in Dad. He's not just a number to them, they have their finger on what is happening for him, and communicate well with us. Dad has gone from being someone who was adamant he never wanted to leave his home to someone who is more than happy to live in a 5-star hotel!
Waterbeach Lodge offers a welcoming, warm and homely environment. The home and gardens are lovely. All staff are respectful and caring towards my grandfather, and he feels valued and safe living there.
Well managed, friendly and caring staff. Well situated in well-maintained grounds, Waterbeach Lodge provides a stable and comfortable home for my aunt. Very unlikely to find better in the area.
Well managed, with kind, professional, stable staff. Lovely bright rooms and big bustling central lounge. Very nice big garden and terrace.
Before choosing Waterbeach Lodge for mum we'd looked around a few homes and it was by far the best - nicely decorated rooms, always smells and looks clean, large well set out lounge. There is a lovely sunny terrace with access to the large well-maintained garden and a conservatory area which is great for family gatherings - we celebrated mum's 90th birthday there. Mum greatly enjoyed her time at Waterbeach Lodge especially the outside entertainers who come in. The care she received was fantastic throughout her time there. When mum was diagnosed with cancer, we worried that we'd be asked to move her to a nursing home but Waterbeach Lodge assured us that she could stay with them until the end. They worked with the NHS palliative care team and the carers and management could not have been better; they were so kind and loving to her. I feel we couldn't have chosen a better place for mum's last two years; it was certainly a huge relief to us that she was so well looked after and happy.
Very high-quality building and facilities with staff providing a high level of attention to residents and visitors.
It has taken him a little while to settle in, but the staff were very patient with him and now he is really enjoying it! He came to ours for his birthday but he was itching to get back. Whilst with us he was always talking about activities and people at The Lodge. He certainly sees it as his home now! It makes me feel so relieved he is happy!
