View Full Details of Fitzwilliam HouseMy granddad has been staying at this residential home since 2023 and both my mother and I cannot find enough words to describe how grateful and appreciative we are for my granddad to be staying in such a wonderful residential home. The staff treat the residents with so much care, respect, kindness, patience and love which has been so heart warming to witness. My granddad's first language isn't English, however the staff has made sure to make my he feel so comfortable and not lonely by providing a TV for him in the residential living room that plays channels in his native language all day, using flash cards and translate to communicate with my granddad. During the week there are always activities going on to keep the residents entertained and to stimulate their minds. If all care workers in the world were like the staff from this residential home, then the world would of been a much better, and safer place, for our elders.
The staff at this residential home are not only highly professional but also deeply compassionate, consistently going above and beyond to provide exceptional care. They create an environment where residents feel valued, respected, and truly loved, offering personalised care that meets the unique needs of each individual. A beautiful 2 days celebrating our mum's birthday. So many smiley faces and encouraging words. A lovely time spent outdoors in the garden and the September sunshine. It was wonderful to hear the staff and residents singing Happy Birthday and clapping in celebration. We were really moved.
Mum moved into the care home in July 2023 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia. The staff quickly made us feel at ease and explained how Mum would be cared for. Now in December, we can honestly say that we are very impressed with the care Mum has received. All the staff are excellent and approachable with any concerns which may arise. It's good to know Mum is cared for and safe in her new home.
Fitzwilliam House has everything my auntie needs. The staff are friendly, caring and knowledgeable of the residents. As my auntie’s nephew, I can’t ask for much more! My auntie had a fall and a member of staff rang me, informing me she was going to the hospital.
The Fitzwilliam team are always so helpful and with a smile on their faces, even when things are really difficult. Lunches are very tasty and relevant to people with dementia. Now that my husband is non weight-bearing he has to be hoisted from chair to bed etc. Always carried out with care talking to him the whole time so that he is aware of what is going on. Well done and thank you.
My mother has been at Fitzwilliam for almost 4 happy years. Although at times she can be a little difficult she is never treated with anything but kindness and consideration. This is all due to the amazing staff and their endless patience, for which I am extremely grateful and full of praise. The home is always full of laughter and high spirits, a truly happy place. Testament to this is the staff retention which in itself must speak volumes. Thank you to each and every one of you for all that you do.
My mother has been a resident at the care home for 2 and a half years. Prior to her entering I struggled, as her son, to deal with the demands that an elderly person with dementia needs. My life changed when my mother became a resident of Fitzwilliam. They dealt with everything. My mother always looks clean and well-presented. I have often sat and watched the interaction between staff and residents and there is a loving family bond between them. Well done all at Fitzwilliam, Cottenham - you are all great.
My father has been a resident at Fitzwilliam for 15 month now. The home is warm and welcoming and the staff very caring. Having helped look after my dad when he lived at his home it was important for me to stay involved with how he is cared for. At Fitzwilliam, I have been lucky enough to get to know the staff, who are happy to talk with me about any concerns or suggestions I may have. I believe that my dad is lucky to live at Fitzwilliam, and it is the staff at Fitzwilliam with their friendliness, experience and compassion that makes this an outstanding care home.
Mum was very content, she settled much quicker than we expected and her family were very happy with the care she received during her 10 months at Fitzwilliam House. It was such a shame to have to move her when her nursing needs increased.
My elderly neighbour recently had to move into Fitzwilliam as she could no longer manage at home. When I visited her I was amazed by how much better she looked in such a short space of time. It’s amazing what the right care can do. The home itself is lovely, really welcoming and it has a lovely atmosphere. The staff all seemed great and when I heard/saw them interacting with the other residents you could tell they really cared.
The team at Fitzwilliam House Care Home are always cheerful and attentive - well done to each and every one of you for your compassion and dedication. They have a wide variation of residents in their care and they take account of individual needs and capabilities. Different activities happen every week to stimulate and encourage residents, mentally and physically, and they look great fun! Keep doing what you are doing.
I can not fault the care that my mum has received, the staff are excellent and the facilities are excellent. Mum is really happy and safe in the home, well looked after. My sister and I both have peace of mind that she's safe and well looked after.
I cannot thank Fitzwilliam House enough, we recently lost my nanna, and the care that they gave her in her last weeks was just incredible and I will forever be thankful for their support and love and care they provided. Even before Nanna was very poorly, everyone at Fitz has always been amazing. It feels more like a family than a care home! Thank you all so much, nannas dementia journey would not have been the same without Fitz. Many thanks.
Fab place. Daily activities and the staff are all amazing people. Always clean and tidy and always friendly and helpful. They call me daily if need be to update me on stuff concerning my auntie. Great little place -10/10.
After struggling on her own, my mother was admitted with dementia 3 years ago and immediately settled in her new surroundings, being back amongst company certainly helped with this. I have nothing but high praise for all the staff who are very caring and considerate of the individual needs of the residents and always welcome visitors with a friendly smile. I was always kept updated with any issues that arose with mum, however trivial, which was so reassuring. All the staff deserve praise but I will give a special mention to her carer who was brilliant in the attentive and supportive care she showed mum. The home is well-run and always kept clean. Lots of entertainment is provided for them to enjoy and even partake in. The food the residents are served is superb. Mum, sadly passed earlier this month, and I was warmed by the sympathy all the staff, who had become friends, showed when I made my final visit. Fitzwilliam Care Home is an excellent facility, run by excellent staff.
The staff care so much for all the residents like they are one of their relatives for many of them there's nothing they won't do, the clothes are washed well and quickly to keep the patients in tip-top looks along with the food which is as good as many hotels would love to serve up, last week on our visit out of nowhere warm homemade doughnuts appeared and the smile on everyone was a pleasure to see.
My wife has dementia and she is without mobility. She has been a resident at Fitzwilliam House for just over two years. During this time, both me and my children have been very happy with the care and kindness shown to my wife. We have been happy and content. I have been very impressed with how all the staff, that is, carers, cooks and cleaning staff, go about their individual tasks to make the Fitzwilliam such a pleasant and well run home.
Having to put my mum into a care home was one of the hardest experiences of my life but the staff at Fitzwilliam House have always been so caring and supportive. They encourage a family atmosphere which permeates the home so that even the residents themselves to the best of their ability look after one another and comfort each other. Everyone is treated with dignity, respect and gentle care and staff go out of their way to meet the resident's needs. There are regular singing, music and bingo activities which are loved by all and whenever there is a birthday it is celebrated with an individually presented cake. The food is of a high standard as is the level of cleanliness and, as a family member, you are always welcomed into the mix. I appreciate being able to visit often and to be able to take mum out for walks and for family occasions. I truly believe that all the staff in the home do their very best to provide an outstanding level of care for which I am very grateful!
The team keep me fully informed regarding the issues with my father and dementia. They are polite, helpful, kind, caring and considerate. The managers are informative, friendly, open and induce open dialogue through trust. It is very hard for me to see my father in a deteriorated state. I am very grateful for their help with him during these last stages of his long life.
