View Full Details of Laburnum LodgeMy dad was discharged temporarily to Laburnum Lodge from hospital with mild dementia and recovering from a stroke. Despite basic appearances, the home is very friendly, and the staff are lovely and caring and my dad has settled in happily and made a friend. It is not all that luxurious but safe and caring and there were lots of goodbyes when he left. He would have been happy to have stayed longer.
I have been very impressed by the professionalism, compassion and kindness shown by the staff in caring for my dying mother and my father who suffers from Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. The level of interaction between the staff and residents is very impressive and gives Laburnum lodge a 'family' feel. The staff seem to know the foibles of the various residents and take the trouble to accommodate them. The overall appearance is of a happy and well-run establishment that values and cares about its residents.
We don’t usually do reviews but feel this is justified. We have had a pretty traumatic year so far, one way or another and it was necessary for Mum to go into a Care Home. Laburnham Lodge may not look the prettiest from the outside but don’t let that put you off – it is what is inside that counts! The staff are not just Carers doing a job for payment at the end of the month - they really do care. They treat you and the family member needing care as part of their own extended family and nothing is too much trouble as we have found out. Their patience and compassion shows no bounds. The managers are ‘angels’ and the carers under them are an absolute credit to them. They are all prepared to go the extra mile without a second thought. We feel very lucky to have Mum looked after by them all. Their barbecue for the residents and family was amazing and enjoyed by all.
