We have experienced excellent care all around. Compared to other homes we have used in the past, we have consistently been very impressed with staff care, cleanliness, food, activities, etc. There are homes which would be far easier for us to access, but we have chosen to stay with Rheola for all of these reasons.
Good home with caring staff. The standard of cleanliness and general upkeep is high. My mother has been a resident since May 2024. The staff are polite and due care and compassion. Keep up the good work!
Having mum go into a home is something a son never wants to happen and the stress around that is huge, but from the very first day, the staff in Rheola have been brilliant. The manager has been outstanding in communication, advice, and putting me at ease with the whole situation. The staff are so nice and caring and they have helped Mum settle in. She's an old East End of London, and banter is part of her daily life, and the staff have made her laugh, looked after her, and are always making sure she is OK. Is the building dated and needs a lot of updating? Yes is the answer, but I would put the staff and the professionalism above that, and I'm glad I have. I know they will take care of Mum, and that means a lot to a relative.
Rheola isn’t the prettiest of buildings but that isn’t what matters. Once inside it’s filled with kindness, care, compassionate professional staff, people who love their work, and all of the residents. Upon entering the building my friend was shown to his room and offered a cup of tea and sandwiches. The staff all on first-name terms made him most welcome. I was blown away by the kindness and compassion shown to a man entering residential care for the first time ever in his life. I left him there knowing that he was in the best possible place he could be!
My aunt has been in care since November 2022. The care has always been excellent and the staff helpful, friendly and welcoming. Slight criticisms would be the slightly 'tired' appearance of the room but I understand plans are in the pipeline to rebuild part of the care home.
We all have reservations when our loved ones need to go into a care home but from the first day, I could see what a warm and friendly atmosphere awaited my husband at Rheola. The staff are amazing. I am always welcomed by all the staff. I can join my husband for meals, which I often do, and the food is always home-cooked and a good standard. I would like to thank the staff of Rheola for erasing any fears and reservations I may have had and for the excellent care my husband is receiving.
The majority of the staff are very welcoming and aim to give a top-class service to those in Rheola. Although the property is a little tired with regard to furnishings and decor, the home makes up for it with their friendly caring environment. The food apparently is very tasty.
Rheola has been a very friendly and caring home for my mother, and I am very happy to give them a five-star review. In addition to the friendly care that we see there every day, I have recently been witness to the professional side of the organisation as they responded quickly and efficiently when my mother was very ill.
The care my sister receives at the Rheola Care home is excellent and shows by the carer's dedication to the duty of care. We have evidenced the change from delirium to fully-blown dementia. Sometimes, carers are in short supply, but the is always someone available. The care home is quite old, and the room is quite small, but the room is only for sleeping, and all the staff more than make up for it. My family are grateful to know that my sister is well and truly looked after. Thank you.
Wonderful staff that always makes my visit really enjoyable. They are always welcoming, and there’s a great atmosphere with lots of laughter while being thoroughly professional. The level of care is amazing, and the residents are so well looked after.
Rheola has been home for our lovely dad for two and a half years and our wonderful mum for one and a half. The carers are loving, caring and very hard-working. They go out of their way to go the extra mile for us as visitors too. We have been very pleased with the team leaders and management, and would highly recommend their care.
A kind and caring environment which recognises individual needs. The manager has been extremely supportive and human in her work with my mum. The care home facilities are not ideal and are very much associated with the fact this is a converted older property - in particular, shower facilities in the room and communal area.
I feel Rheola staff should be recognised and appreciated for the way this home is run and the amazing care they give to their residents and each other within the team. There is a true family feel here. I have always been very impressed with the care, respect and empathy they show for all their residents. They are thorough in their work, cheerful, welcoming and supportive of everyone who visits. A pleasure to visit!
I am very happy with the care my mother is getting at Rheola. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. They took time to listen to us and took action when we needed the TV socket fixed and the shower looked at. They contacted me in the middle of the night when Mum fell and hurt her face, and it was no problem for me to go in and see her before we went to the hospital to get her checked out. The food always looks very nice, and Mum has no complaints. Rheola has a very nice feel to it. We looked at several before deciding on it, and it was the welcoming nature and friendliness of the staff on our first visit that made us feel it was the right place for Mum.
Simply a lovely, friendly care home giving a 'home from home' feel. All the staff are extremely kind and very caring to Mum and treat her as if she was one of their own family, which is lovely. Mum likes to come up with suggestions for different meals, nothing seems to be too much trouble for the team and they always try to oblige where they can. Entertainment and activities are good and varied, Mum especially enjoys taking part in doing crafts and she also loves to go on any outings on offer. Mum has a comfortable room which she has enough space to have all her things around her.
My husband has been in Rheola Care Home just over two years, I have nothing but praise, gratitude and admiration for all the members of staff who take care of my husband, they treat him with respect and dignity. As he suffers with Alzheimer’s/dementia, the carers/staff do an amazing job coping day in, day out with all those who suffer from this very cruel disease. My family and I are so grateful and appreciative we have this wonderful care home in St Ives.
The level of care my husband has received has been consistently first-class. Before he came to live in the Rheola, I had checked out other care homes, spoken with relatives of residents in other care homes, read reviews etc. I am so glad he is here - I feel fully confident he is being cared for well, his health needs are being dealt with promptly, and he is being treated with respect.
A neighbour said: "It's the staff that makes the difference", and here Rheola ticks all the boxes. Hands-on management and carers who are so kind and patient with a difficult resident. They put on a lovely birthday party for her and keep on giving my wife the 24/7 care that I just can't provide. And the place is always clean and tidy. I don't know how they can do it!
My grandmother moved into Rheola three months ago. The care she receives is totally outstanding. My grandmother is always happy and content every single time any family member visits her. Rheola is a lovely care home. Every time I visit, the staff are amazing, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. I'm very happy my grandmother is settled and very well cared for at Rheola.
A very happy, caring place. The staff really go above and beyond to ensure that my mum continues to get as much out of life as possible. Dad was there until he died last year, and they looked after him with so much humour.
