View Full Details of Rose CottageMy Mum lived at Rose Cottage for nearly three years. The care throughout that time was excellent, but was particularly so in the last few weeks of her life. The staff were amazing and all aspects of her care were delivered with great compassion and dignity. As a family, we were also looked after beautifully which enabled us to spend those last precious weeks without any concerns apart from looking after and being with Mum.
We visited Rose Cottage over a year ago. My Dad was very impressed with the service but did not feel ready to move. Dad's name was placed on a waiting list. We were both impressed with the attitude and philosophy of Rose Cottage. Later, I supported Dad at Rose Cottage where he was welcomed to attend activity sessions. A room became available and Dad had a six-week trial which was reassuring to him. Dad stayed. We as a family were extremely impressed with the whole of the service, everything about it is positive - staff are so caring and put the resident at the centre of their approach. Nothing is too much trouble. At Dad's first care review, he said "Well it's like paradise really". Personally, I have had an exceptionally positive experience at Rose Cottage and I would recommend it. We are truly grateful for the care, support, and understanding that Dad receives on a daily basis. Lastly, there is lots of fun and laughter at Rose Cottage - my Dad loves the conversations he has with staff.
From my first visit to Rose Cottage managers and staff were welcoming and supportive, encouraging us to visit regularly with Mum to help develop familiarity with the setting prior to a room becoming available. Mum moved in over two years ago now. We were impressed with the support offered to Mum to help her settle in her new home, especially to me as I initially found the transition from full-time carer back to daughter a challenge. We feel that residents are looked after with love and kindness and treated with respect and dignity. Staff are friendly, open, considerate, and helpful and visitors are welcome. The activities team offers a range of activities throughout the week, catering to the different interests and needs of residents. As a regular visitor, I enjoy supporting the activities Mum joins in with as this gives us quality time doing something together. Mum's experience at Rose Cottage is positive and we are very grateful for the love and care she is shown daily.
My mother has been living at Rose Cottage since August 2023; we feel blessed to have found such a loving home for her. The staff learns to know the residents in detail, so recognise when someone's not feeling well, or needs help, even if they can't articulate that for themselves. A wide variety of activities is on offer, from table games to armchair exercise to trips out to visits and performances from amongst the local community; and the menu always provides a good choice, with dietary needs (eg soft food) catered for. Visitors are always welcome, and for occasions like residents' birthdays, or for everyone at Christmas, they go to a lot of trouble to arrange special events. The home is bright and comfortable - and has the best home-from-home atmosphere in a care home setting that I have seen. Nowhere is perfect; occasionally there are minor matters that need attention, but overall these are relatively unimportant. We trust our mum to the care of Rose Cottage with great confidence.
When I first contacted Rose Cottage they were friendly and professional. They let me view the residence promptly and I was very impressed with what I saw. The home really is a home from home. It was welcoming and cosy. Not clinical but felt warm and friendly. They have a residential bit and a dementia bit which is secure. Once we had decided we wanted to choose Rose Cottage the transition was really smooth and I felt really supported. The rooms are nice with lovely views of the gardens from each window. The entertainment is brilliant! They do so many lovely things with the residents but there is also no pressure to join in if it's not wanted. I would highly recommend Rose Cottage to anyone looking into a care home.
My mother is a resident at Rose Cottage and has dementia. She joined them in July 2024 after being cared for at home by family members and we grew increasingly aware of her declining health. We knew at once that we had made the right decision in placing her in the care of Rose Cottage. From the first visit, the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. Some of the staff knew her and made her feel very welcome on her first day. The manager and all the staff have been very supportive and any concerns have been dealt with quickly and professionally. When my mother was unwell staff contacted me immediately and medical assistance was sought straight away. The communication by phone and email had been open and honest and I felt reassured by any concerns that I or other family members might have. The change in my mother has been lovely to see and she in encouraged to take part in the daily activity programme that the home provides.
My mum has been at Rose Cottage for nearly a year now and for both of us life is a lot better. Mum is very well looked after and I can stop worrying about her (I still do worry a bit, but it's normal) as I know she is safe and well looked after. I can actually take time out and actually have a holiday abroad, which I couldn't do previously.
My uncle at ninety-six, having long refused to give up living alone in his bungalow, at last agreed to move into Rose Cottage. Within days he was a different man; happy, sociable, loving all the activities, greatly appreciating the delicious meals and not having to worry about his house and garden any longer. The staff at Rose Cottage brought out the best in my uncle and he loved his time there. For the first time in his life, he had friends. The staff are very kind and caring. The home is clean (no bad smells!) and the gardens delightful.
Mum moved at short notice in March 2023. We are delighted with the home. The staff are friendly and helpful and the activities team organise interesting things for residents to do on a daily basis. Mum has settled very well and we don't have to worry about her now that she is in the home. The managers are the same as when we first discussed the possibility of Mum moving into the home four years ago and everyone seems very caring. There are posher, newer care homes in the area, but Rose Cottage has a family feel to it and the staff are great. We feel very lucky there was a vacancy when we needed one.
Our friend had to be moved quickly from her original care home due to them closing. We knew she would settle better in the same area and the staff at Rose Cottage were incredibly kind and helpful, at what could have been a very stressful time. My first impressions of visiting Rose Cottage were that everywhere was clean and well organised. The move went very smoothly in October 2022. We find all the staff helpful, efficient and caring (no matter how many times we phone to query certain points). Our friend has settled well and has engaged in many activities. Because we now live some distance away we ring her regularly. A telephone was re-sited so she could answer when we rang and it's a joy hearing her sound so happy and contented. We must point out that we can only answer questions covering our three visits over the past three months.
Having been here for two and a half years I have been very happy and content. I feel at home here because everyone makes me very welcome and allows me to help in little ways. The staff and residents treat me with kindness and consideration and I'm very lucky to spend my last years here in such lovely surroundings.
My mother has been a resident in the dementia wing of Rose Cottage since 2020 Since I live and work overseas, I have not been able to visit her in person since she first moved in. My impression developed via many remote meetings that she was being well looked after, were significantly reinforced when I visited in person in August 2022. The facility is beautiful, well managed and maintained. More importantly, the carers are compassionate and make a real effort to connect with their residents. They engage Mum in activities that typically put a smile on her face and I feel confident she is in good hands with everyone there. Their full staffing levels and low staff turnover hint at a positive workplace culture where the employees have fun and feel valued. Maintaining continuity benefits Mum in that they get to know her needs and can "read" her as well as is possible for someone with advanced Alzheimer's.
My mother has been in Rose Cottage for over six years now. I have always known that she is safe and well cared for there. The care staff are great and very attentive to Mum's needs. The managers and senior team have always been very approachable if issues of concern arise. In times of greater need, for example, when an emergency hospital admission was required, the staff have been caring and sensitive not only to mum but to me as well. I have had phone calls and emails to keep me informed. Although mum has never been a great one for joining in activities, there are plenty of options and she has recently returned to playing bingo. The garden has had a lot of work recently and mum always finds it relaxing to be taken around in her wheelchair. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rose Cottage to anyone looking for a care home.
This is based on my completion of the 'boxes' that I have rated some as 'good' is not a criticism but simply because I have no experience for comparison. I have been here for eight months and all my expectations have been met in a happy and friendly environment.
Exceptional support was provided to ensure that my mother was able to make decisions and come to terms with her changed circumstances. The staff are very caring and attentive and have supported the whole family. Mother's health and mobility improved significantly since moving into Rose Cottage.
Since arriving at Rose Cottage, everyone has tried really hard to help my mother settle in. It was a very difficult time for her initially, but over the last month or so, she has seemed more settled, and I feel that this is a large part due to the staff who have made every effort to connect with her and to ascertain what her individual needs are. They keep us well informed on any issues and are involved in necessary decision-making. I find the staff are very accommodating, helpful and friendly.
My wife and I were very pleased to visit my cousin at Rose Cottage. We live quite some way away but try to keep in touch with telephone calls. However, our visit over a long weekend was well organised by my cousin’s partner’s son. It was so good to see my cousin in her room and surroundings at Rose Cottage. We were made very welcome and did not feel that we were in the way. My Cousin’s room is very nice, clean and light. The facilities seemed very good and the surroundings of the care home were very attractive. We were able to take my cousin out for a meal and also on another day to a garden centre with no difficulty. It is good now, when telephoning, that I can imagine her in her room and good having seen some of the staff and knowing that she is well cared for.
The staff at Rose Cottage looked after my mum for almost 5 years. They always did their upmost to care for and look after her even at difficult times. Whenever I visited (and this was at least weekly) the staff were always seen engaging positively with residents and they take every opportunity to provide an entertaining and stimulating environment for everyone.
Staff are very supportive of mum's needs. Mum is encouraged to partake in the daily activities. Apparently, the food is good too! Communication with the home's management is good. Now that visiting hours are more flexible, mum seems happier. Trips out organised by carers is limited, understandably due to limited staff resources, which is unfortunate as these are greatly appreciated by mum.
Generally a well run care home in a very pleasant rural location, within tranquil grounds surrounded by open countryside. Catering is a strong point but lack of staff, particularly at weekends is an issue.
