View Full Details of Florence House Care HomeMum is very content and comfortable at Florence house. Despite her dementia, she is happy in her surroundings. She has put on substantial weight in the last 2 years while at Florence House Care Home. She is content with the familiarity of sitting with the same ladies.
My mother went into Florence House in May 2024. I had already been told great things about Florence House which is why I chose to look around for my mum. The care home has a lovely warm atmosphere. The lounge area is very homely. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. I asked my Mum, have I done the right thing in choosing Florence House for you? She said definitely! She has a lovely room that is always clean, which she can go to at any time if she wants to, but mum spends most of her time in the lounge with the other residents. I have peace of mind that my mum has around-the-clock care. Would I recommend Florence House to anyone else? Yes, I would!
My family have found Florence House to be outstandingly caring and personal in their approach as they care for my frail 89-year-old mother who has dementia. The home is small enough to feel like a family and the environment is homely, relaxed and spotlessly clean. I find the manager to be a deeply caring and sensitive person who understands that inside each elderly and unwell person is an individual who still wants recognition for who they were/are. The staff are cheerful, helpful, friendly and very flexible, and also very capable and knowledgeable in a care context. There is an attractive enclosed garden. The home has a good relationship with a local GP practice which means that any medical care is delivered promptly and appropriately. It was a huge decision to introduce my mother to care and I researched carefully what would be best for her and her vascular dementia. Small, personal, caring and responsive was what I wanted and Florence House has delivered this exceptionally
The staff are great and always have a laugh when I visit which is generally three times a week. Any concerns I talk to the manager and they get sorted. Home is always spotless, with no complaints and no regrets about mum being a resident.
My uncle of 93 years of age became a resident at Florence House in April 2023. It was a huge change for him as although he was born and raised in Peterborough he had been living in a village in Argyll, Scotland for the previous 35 years. He has quite severe mobility problems and short term memory loss due to dementia. He agreed to the move back to Peterborough to be closer to family as he has 4 nieces and a nephew living here that would be able to visit. Florence House was the home of choice as it has a good reputation for providing excellent care within a homely environment, it also has a Christian basis and offers Sunday morning services and my Uncle's Christian faith is important to him. My uncle has settled very well and is quite content, he likes the staff, the Sunday services and the food (he has a good appetite). He also enjoys visits from the family who are always made very welcome by the staff. We all feel it was a good decision that he moved into Florence House.
My dad became a resident as of December 22 due to his Dementia. Sadly he died in February. His care was second to none and his last few months of life was made all the more enjoyable and bearable due to the great care he was given. Thank you to the manager and the great team at Florence House.
From the moment my ninety-two year old dad moved into Florence House he was made to feel welcome and all staff made an effort to get to know and help him understand things that he found difficult due to his dementia and the recent loss of his wife. When he had a stroke they acted quickly and professionally, getting him the medical care he needed so that he was transferred to hospital within an hour. As a family we were welcomed whatever time we visited and also felt like part of the Florence House family. I would recommend this home to anyone.
Florence House has come through a change of management and ownership in the last couple of months During this time, it's been great to see the level of care and service maintained at its high level. The home manager and her team are so friendly and welcoming to family and visitors when we call to see dad. And we feel at ease because my dad is "at home" and looked after very well. Thank you all for what you do.
Florence House is small and friendly with a homely atmosphere. There is a strong Christian presence that is valued greatly by residents, their families and friends. Staff are caring and understanding and well-behaved dogs are welcome to visit providing comfort to residents. The staff carefully accommodate residents' individual needs and preferences and everyone is made to feel valued and special.
My 97-year-old mum moved into Florence House in October, following a stroke, after living completely independently. She was very reluctant to accept that she could not live in her own home anymore, but the staff and particularly the manager, made her feel so welcome and cared for, that she settled into her new home quickly. All of the staff are very caring and there is a true family feel to the home. Since moving to Florence House, mum's mobility and her general well being have improved considerably, mainly down to the ethos of the home being one of maximising resident's potential. Mum is a very sociable person and loves spending time talking to other residents and reminiscing about their lives. I am reassured that mum is safe and loved and would certainly recommend this home to anyone looking for care for a relative.
Florence House accepted my mum without question at short notice. All of the staff are caring, thoughtful and understanding. Just knowing she is being well cared for in every respect has put my mind at ease ( I live in Manchester). Whenever we have visited they have been welcoming. I would like to congratulate the manager and her team on providing outstanding care. My mum loves it there, she feels safe and secure. Mum is a really sociable woman and the staff at Florence House do everything they can to encourage social interaction. I could go on but I’m running out of space?
My father-in-law has been there for about 18 months now. Very friendly and caring place for him to be. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. He is very happy and it's reassuring for all of us knowing he is in a loving home.
My Dad has been at Florence House for nearly a year and a half, a period of time that has been punctuated by the Covid Pandemic. Despite only being able to visit him once for a well-planned garden visit I am so pleased to be able to say how impressed I am with the Christian care he has received. My brother has been the nominated visitor and has regularly taken pictures depicting a very happy Dad! Prior to coming to Florence House Dad was at another Peterborough care home which was not so well geared up to deal with him. He had a couple of minor falls which meant that he had to be taken to Peterborough Hospital to be checked over and during these hospital stays he showed signs of deterioration because hospitals don't have the time or resources to devote to an older person's needs the way Florence House does. Moving to Florence House has not only reversed his deterioration but has helped him to flourish. I cannot imagine life without Florence House... Thanks so much.
Florence House was my mother’s home for the last 3 years of her life during which time she was treated with dignity and respect. She thought of the staff at Florence House as members of her extended family and was loved and valued by them as such. We are truly thankful for the staff at Florence House for giving our mother such a secure and happy environment for her final years.
I felt confident that mum was looked after and cared for when I was not around which due to Covid was the last 10 months of her life. I was kept informed on how she was and if she needed anything. The staff went above the call of duty to look after her and were very sympathetic towards us her family when mum was deteriorating at a terrible time. Thank you all staff at Florence House.
My mother was a resident at Florence House for just over 3 years. She always talked about how the staff were her 2nd family. She was always so happy there and the staff so caring towards her and all other residents. The Christian ethos of the home was evident to see. Mum especially enjoyed the baking and gardening times, also the monthly church services and singing that was provided by a local church team.
My dear mother lived here from 2017-2021 and was loved and valued as part of the Florence House 'family'. Despite her Alzheimers, she was allowed to exercise freedom of choice and to pursue her desire to help others and be of use to the people around her. She was treated as an individual and the staff who worked there loved her and treated her with respect. What more could one ask for one's beloved mother in her twilight years? There were varied, lively and stimulating activities to take part in, the home is immaculate and the home baking by the staff is amazing.
Mum became a resident at Florence House shortly before Christmas 2020 and sadly passed away a few short months later. However, the care and compassion which was afforded to Mum and all of our family over this period has been incredible. Nothing was too much trouble for the carers and we were always made to feel welcome during our Covid-safe visits to the home. Communication between staff at the home and family members has always been professional, respectful and timely meaning that we always knew that we would be contacted if a problem or emergency arose. Regular updates and photographs were shared so that we could see what Mum had been up to! We chose Florence House for Mum due to its Christian ethos and because both Mum and Dad had spent respite periods there and been very happy and well looked after. In my professional role as a community nurse I go in and out of many care homes - Florence House is one of only a handful of homes that I would recommend to anyone. Thank you.
After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia in 2012, my lovely mum was cared for by Dad at home, with my support, for 5-years. We then had to make the difficult decision, for both of their sakes, to place Mum in residential care. It was such a blessing for us to find Florence House! Mum moved in during March 2017 and was always treated with such care and respect. She settled quickly and spent three and a half very happy and contented years there. The staff at Florence House care about the whole well-being of each resident. Obviously, each person’s physical needs are cared for, but also their mental and emotional well-being are looked after. There is a wonderful family atmosphere in the home, which extends to the family of residents - we were always made so welcome! Mum peacefully passed away at Florence House this year. We are so grateful to the staff for the care and support we were all shown, they made a difficult time easier - and showed how loved Mum was.
My friend's mother (for whom I hold LPA) had a weeks respite care at Florence House. I was absolutely astounded by the care and compassion of the carers and also of the other residents. I have visited many care homes and I had no idea that care of this standard was actually possible in our society. The ethos of this home is amazing, the manager clearly has his finger on the pulse and is a very 'visible' presence in the home. Well done Florence House, my faith is restored.
