View Full Details of Garden LodgeI cannot speak highly enough of Garden Lodge. It really is a home from home. My mum (who is 95 and normally lives with me), had a month's respite care after breaking her hip and she thoroughly enjoyed her stay. She was treated with the utmost care, dignity and genuine affection. The home has a beautiful garden which was very important to my mum who loves gardening. When I collected her to bring her home, all of the staff, including the owner, gave her hugs and came out to wave goodbye. It is such a special place, we have asked if we can go back and visit them again and they said we are welcome.
Mum was fortunate to spend the last week of her life at Garden Lodge Care Home. It had always been her wish to go and live there but at 97 she still wasn’t quite ready to give up her independence until a diagnosis, followed by a fall and short hospital stay meant she was unable to return to her own home. Mum had full control of her own mind and this was instantly recognised by the two managers and their staff. Her health was deteriorating rapidly but the care they gave her and to our family was wonderful. I really can’t praise them enough. The Care Manager went above and beyond to obtain the external help needed for mum. The staff were kind, loving, welcoming, supportive and extremely compassionate. That week I spent many hours sat with mum close to the communal lounge/dining area. The atmosphere was very much like a home from home - calm, warm, purposeful, friendly. I really feel the residents have the best life there.
My grandmother has been at Garden Lodge for a few weeks and has settled in very well. The staff are lovely and treat her with respect. It has been difficult for my family recently with my grandmother developing dementia and ongoing anxiety, but everyone at the home has been extremely supportive.
My mum continues to enjoy living at Garden Lodge. This is a nice, small residential care home and the staff are friendly and caring.
The service and care given to my friend is second to none. This not only applies to my friend (Resident) but to family and friends, by both the management team and care staff. Residents are treated with understanding, respect and as individuals. Time is given to all the residents, whom have a variety of different needs. The management and staff help to solve problems as they arise, with a professional, and compassionate attitude. I have already recommended "Garden Lodge" to a couple of people who, due to family circumstances, require extra care for loved ones and will do so in the future. The environment is always friendly and welcoming, which makes a huge difference when visiting residents there.
We have visited my brother many times this year and we have always found the staff very friendly and caring towards my brother and also us. The meals are excellent and enjoyed by the residents. Since my brother has been here he has improved physically and mentally, which I believe is due to the watchful eye and caring nature of the staff. Moral is high between residents and staff and the whole atmosphere is calm and happy.
Could not have picked a more friendly and caring home for my mum. The staff and management could not do enough for my mum. Excellent.
My mother was in Garden Lodge 17 years ago for only 5 weeks then she fell and died. The care and respect given to her was fantastic so I had no hesitation in recommending my old friend to go into Garden Lodge a year ago last May. He loved it there. The staff were fantastic to him. His room was spotless. The meals were very varied and plentiful. He was on dialysis three times a week and the staff packed him up sandwiches and a flask on those days. They always had a hot meal waiting for him at night. I had P.O.A for him and picked him up to play Whist. He was 91 and sadly died on 31/1/18. I cannot speak highly enough of the owners, they are so caring and have that special magic to make their clients feel wanted.
Yearly Christmas party, just before Christmas went off very well with nearly all residents families attending. My mother, although 101 years, joined in with Christmas carols and noisy instruments, great fun. I visited my mother several times that Christmas and normally did twice a week. On Tuesday 16th January I noticed my mother sleeping more and by Saturday 20th January she passed away with three daughters and myself by her side. The staff were extremely good and management guiding us as necessary.
Our very dear friend was a resident here for nearly 2 years. He had the utmost care and help and said it was the best days work he had ever done moving there. The food was excellent and varied. The menu was changed every two weeks. The rooms were spotless and the carers were wonderful and couldn't do enough for him. Sadly his kidneys packed up and he died in January 2018. We shall miss our visits round to the home.
Very lovely home, carers are very passionate about their work and shows in the health and happiness of the residents at the home.
Garden Lodge is a small, family run care home that offers a really friendly service. The staff are all very welcoming and treat all the residents with dignity and respect. They make the atmosphere feel like a family and a great place to be.
My Uncle chose this care home due to personal recommendation and it's situation in the village where he had lived for many years. He was very happy here. My Uncle had a very nice ensuite room which he furnished with his favourite chair and family pictures. The staff were very caring and obviously, due to the home's small size, he saw the same staff consistently and built up a good relationship with them. Each resident is treated as an individual.
Having only 9 residents makes for an intimate family atmosphere where each one is treated with care and dignity as an individual. The well-trained staff are very welcoming to visitors. They take the time to get to know their residents and their life stories which enable them to prompt memories which are hugely important for dementia suffers. All residents are encouraged to partake in hobbies with visitors from "enablers" from table-top activities and seasonal crafts and displays.Nutritious home cooked meals are served "en0famille", but those needing assistance are also helped. Residents and mobility problems are encouraged to do as much as they can for themselves, but mobility equipment is used when necessary to include everyone in the many social activities. The staff manage complex medication regimes with ease and great professionalism. There are regular trips out to encourage social interaction and visits tot the home from hairdresser and chiropodist which ensures resident's well-being and pride in their appearance. The home has beautiful landscaped gardens that are safe and secure. All legal, administrative and financial procedures are managed well and the fees offer good value for a safe and secure and loving environment for residents.
I visited my nan for the first time for her birthday recently, the staff were so friendly and welcoming and really made such an effort to make my nan feel good. The home isn't like other care homes it's very homely and just seems like someone's house. Although there are only 9 residents there were at the time 4 members of staff on duty. I would recommend this home to anyone if they want a home from home environment.
Entering Garden Lodge there is a homely feel and I am always greeted by friendly staff with offers of a cup of tea. My father can be found in his room watching a DVD of a war film given to him by the owner. He could be watching a cowboy film on t.v and the staff keep an eye on him or a Polish programme as satellite was supplied so he could watch programmes in his language. He has been given a cassette player to listen to his Polish music, a very large clock and a family photograph frame. On nice days he's allowed to do gardening in their beautiful gardens. He picks fruit from the fruit trees and is allowed to prepare the fruit for the residents' meals, this makes him feel useful. My father attends group sessions, doing activities which help to activate memories. My husband and I have been invited to birthday parties and sing-a-longs, playing musical instruments. My father has been taken out on seasonal trips. Having a small group of residents means each one is given personal attention.
This care home provides a comfortable and caring environment. The ethos is not in any way institutional and residents are treated as individuals. Apart from DOL (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards) structures residents are not subjected to unnecessarily restricting rules. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxed and accommodation is comfortable. Staff go out of their way to understand the individual needs of residents.
I feel very lucky to have got a place for Dad at Garden Lodge. The staff are patient, kind and attentive and genuinely care for the residents. It is a real home from home with a family environment that couldn't be replicated in a larger establishment. The layout and proximity of the facilities make the residents feel they are still in their own home, and because it is so small, some of the fears of 'going into care' are allayed by the personal care residents receive. I have confidence in the staff and their ability to ascertain and meet the needs of the residents. Visitors are welcomed at any time of day and offered refreshments. Both management and staff take time to speak with you to discuss your relatives well-being.
