Burgh House High Road, Burgh Castle, Great Yarmouth, NR31 9QL
View Full Details of Burgh HouseWe found Burgh House at short notice, I viewed on same day of calling, very open with information and showed me all the facilities which were perfect for Mum's needs of respite, she loves it so much she has decided to become a permanent resident. I haven't seen her this happy in a long time. All staff members are very helpful, polite, caring and treat Mum with respect. Thank you. It has taken a huge weight off my shoulders.
Our mother resided at Burgh House for five months until her passing a few weeks ago at the age of 98. My sister and I would like to express our sincere thanks to all the staff for the outstanding care she received whilst at Burgh House. Nothing was too much trouble. The management was also outstanding, ensuring my sister and I were looked after at our time of need. Thank you to the manager and one of the assistant managers, you have created an amazing care home you should be very proud of.
My mum has now been in Burgh House for a year, it took her a while to get used to being in a home, but now she is enjoying it. Her quality of life has improved a lot, she likes taking part in all the activities. The home is lovely and bright with no smell of urine. All the staff are friendly and always available if there is a problem. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to family and friends.
The home is well-run by a good management team. They listen and try to correct any issues. Communication is sometimes disconnected and results in gaps in care. There always seems to be a difference in care when new members of the care team start. The overall condition of the home is good but the lift is very small and it's a struggle to get in with a wheelchair. Cleanliness on the whole is good, laundry very good, sometimes the table in the room is not cleaned regularly especially the legs! The staff all work hard, are very polite and kind. Always happy to listen and get issues corrected asap. Unfortunately the food is poor at times.
I find Burgh House a home from home for Mum. Staff are always kind and friendly and do their best even when rushed off their feet. Food always looks tasty and wholesome. If I have an issue I can always approach a member of staff and management and mostly deal with it straight away, equally, they come to me if a problem has popped up. Happy we chose Burgh House for Mum. She likes living there.
My auntie spent the last few months of her life at Burgh House as she became difficult for us to care for her at home. I write on behalf of our family as she only had surviving nieces and nephews. Burgh House is just down the road and we always heard what a lovely place it was. Now we have had firsthand experience. The staff were always smiling and delivered an excellent standard of care to our auntie. Burgh House gave us a feeling of a happy and safe place to be. The management team always communicated with us giving regular updates on Auntie’s wellbeing. Burgh House during a challenging time for our family will always be remembered and appreciated.
My dad had a 4 week stay at Burgh House, he was well cared for, the staff were expectational and an asset to their profession. There are no complaints at all. Definitely will be booked again for the next holiday.
Staff were very caring and efficient - very kind to me, and pleasant every time I visit my dear friend. The home is clean, fresh and bright, and a happy place to be.
So happy to have found such an amazing place to care for my dear mum. The home goes the extra mile all the time to provide the best possible care. The events programs are so bang on for the residents and there are lots of choices. No one really wants to put a loved one into care but Burgh House has such a family feel about it we all agree Mum is living her best life. The staff are a credit to their occupation and keep us fully updated with all of Mum's care plans. I can fully understand the high score they receive for the service they provide.
Both of my parents are in Burgh House they are very happy there, all the staff are very caring and helpful. Their room is lovely overlooking the well-kept garden, which they are looking forward to sitting in when the weather is warmer! All their pictures and family photos were fixed to the walls by the maintenance staff which made their room more homely, thanks to everyone for making them so welcome!
I have been very happy with the standard of care my mother has received since she has moved in. In the 3 years Mum has lived at Burgh House, she has received excellent care. The staff are friendly and polite. Mum also gets on well with the other residents.
Compared to our experience with other care homes, Burgh House appears to offer its residents a lot more interaction, entertainment and excursions. This is clearly very important to the mental well-being of residents and a confidence builder for our family. No one likes to see their loved ones in care at all, but when they are, they want to see them being cared for and shown empathy, respect and even love.
As is usual, our visits to the home are welcoming, even though the staff are very busy. Our stepmother isn't aware, her moods are 'up and down' so we are ordered 'not to chat' or 'to go home' at times, but staff are available for updates! I had Covid in December so not so many visits. A lot of our time has been taken up by calls and emails to social services and Stepmother's bank HO dug to a problem, now sorted. We are relieved that Stepmum can remain at Burgh House.
I moved my mum to Burgh House in July 2023. It took about 6 weeks for her to settle in but now she loves it and joins in all the activities. The staff are all friendly and approachable and you can see they actually care about the residents. I like the fact I can visit Mum whenever I wish, no appointment necessary, as is the case with some care homes. I would recommend Burgh House to anyone.
My wife had to go into a care home as I’m 85 years old and was no longer able to provide the care at home that she needed. This care home was once used by a dear friend of ours and we did visit every a few times before she passed on. We were so impressed with the care she received we had no hesitation in choosing Burgh House. My wife has now been there now one year and four months and because we have been married for over sixty-five years and very, very rarely separated she found it at first very difficult to settle in. The management went out of their way many times to help her settle in including changing her room and finding space during the day where she could continue with her hobby. They have been wonderful and she’s now very settled and happy and now helps any new guests to settle in if they are finding it difficult like she went through.
My dad was 95 and he went into Burgh House Care Home while we went on a break. The staff were kind and caring. His room was lovely and looked out onto the garden. He enjoyed his days there, they got him all his foods he liked to eat in. Nothing was too much trouble and I feel that I was listened to on all things I needed to know.
I have always found this care home to be very clean and the staff are very caring. We have not had any issues, mum has been here for around 7 years now. There are activities during the week, leaving the weekends generally for family and friends visits. The home did exceptionally well during the covid outbreak.
The carers that look after my nanny are kind and compassionate. They show love to her and make her feel like she isn’t alone as my nan sometimes finds it hard being away from her own home. The facilities and the environment are amazing. Just an overall lovely place
I am most impressed by the general attitude of the staff and the care they take to preserve the dignity of those cared for. Those cared for are referred to as residents, not patients. The clothes they are given to protect their clothes are called napkins, not feeders. The windows are set low in the walls which looks strange from outside but this makes the residents able to see outside rather than just looking at the sky. There is no smell of urine at all.
The staff were all excellent, friendly and helpful. The food was very nice.
