View Full Details of Downham GrangeHad my god mother for respite care at Downham Grange. Visited on two occasions and could attest the care given to my godmother was really good. First of all, at the entrance to the home I received a warm welcome from the receptionist, who guided me to my god mother's room. The environment so clean and was very delighted with the smiles on the carers face. My god mother told us she loved it there especially with the fact that the residential unit is very quiet and she called it her 5 star safe place. Food served was hot and delicious, she enjoyed breakfast and above all lunch as it's always with other residents where they chat. I will confirm the Grange is a place to be and would recommend anyone looking for a hospitable and loving environment to be with to chose Downham Grange.
The care was very good. They took a personal interest in my mother. Everything went smoothly as far as I know.
I cannot find fault with the Grange at all. The staff, from reception through to care and nursing, are brilliant, and the cleaners are brilliant, plus cares are really nice to us as to the resident. Their needs are met, as are ours. Cleanliness and tidiness is amazing. Thank you, Grange for all you do.
I would like to leave this review, on behalf of my relative. We did hear a few negative views, but this was not the case when my relative stayed here. My relative stayed at the home after having an operation done for rehabilitation. It was great experience for him and us family and friends that came to visit him during his stay at Downham Grange. The environment is clean, odourless and spacious to move around in his electric wheelchair. The staff are very caring and attentive and friendly. I would recommend the home despite the CQC report almost 2 years. Initially the report was discouraging, but am glad we tried and we did not regret. If you are thinking of letting your family member stay here, go and have a look at the place first. You will be surprised how good the place is. A big thank you to everyone in Downham Grange Care Home.
My uncle moved to the care home recently. My family were apprehensive at first but he seems to enjoy it. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive. They go above and beyond to make him feel comfortable and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I would recommend this Downham Grange.
The staffs are so wonderful and welcoming they are also devoted to their work. They actually look after my grand mum in a very nice way and I will always like to go back there anytime. The facility is also wonderful and warm always
I cannot speak highly enough of the care/support, staff and management for my wife's last days. I am very grateful to the Downham Grange. Many thanks.
Mum was in for one weeks respite care following an operation. From the moment we went into the home we felt welcomed. Everyone was smiling and couldn't do enough for us. The care was good and staff were positive and respectful of how mum wanted to have her care done. She loved the fact that she could have a bath. If we need respite care again, Downham Grange is at the top of our list.
The staff were very welcoming and informing. Granddad enjoys the activity and says the day-to-day support is exceptional and the home was clean and welcoming. It has made visiting my grandfather a joyful experience to look forward to.
My brother went into the care home for two weeks of respite, the staff were fantastic and very caring, the environment was very clean and odourless, the food was good and the activities were very stimulating because my brother enjoyed all the activities he attended.
The current CQC rating for Downham Grange Care Home is an insult to the new manager and her team who have worked tirelessly to bring the home up to the standard one would expect of a long standing service to the community of Downham Market and beyond. All the staff are wonderful people who are genuinely caring and considerate. Residents are treated with respect. The manager goes the extra mile to ensure all the residents needs are met. She is very compassionate and deeply caring. An Angel in disguise who runs a tight ship! A sincere thank you to everyone!
I have been happy with the care that my husband is and has received. I have been happy with the care that my husband is receiving. The staff work very hard and are always busy with their work load and always fair. I cannot manage my husbands needs and I would say they try their very best to manage a more challenging patient at times.
Needed support and respite care after a time in hospital and 4 years as a carer. A warm welcome was given and staff of all grades were friendly and caring.
My father was in this care home for only a few weeks and some of the things I witnessed were not good. It seems that the staff do not have any quality time at all to spend with the residents other than feeding time, quick wash (I never saw any evidence of any oral care) and popping head in every few hours to check he was ok, the rest of the time he was left laying in his bed. It would been nice for someone to get him up and sit him in a chair or take him into the lounge or garden (which is one of the things we told staff we would like to happen on the first day he got there) or just chat to him or engage with him other than when they had a job to do, but no sadly this did not happen, perhaps my expectations of a care home were naive! If all care homes are like this then it's a sad world we live in.
When visiting my sister with my brother and niece whilst in her room we were offered a drink and gratefully accepted. We were brought the drinks approximately 45 minutes later in 3 different mugs. One had a chip in it, and when they enquired about her lunch she said she would eat in her room. When her dinner arrived it looked very bland and was completely cold. For the kind of money she and her husband are paying for her keep, I thought the food was very substandard.
My mother moved into the nursing unit at Downham Grange care home at the end of March, having spent four months in hospital. Right from the moment I visited Downham Grange to see if it was a suitable home, I was impressed with what I found. The rooms and facilities are excellent and 'homely'. The staff I initially spoke to were well informed and helpful and this has continued. They attended hospital and carried out an assessment and within just a few days mother was moved from the hospital into her own private room at the home. This was just over two weeks before her 80th birthday, for which a lovely cake was provided by the kitchen staff. Over the next few weeks, she has started to settle in. Her specific needs remain challenging at times, however the nursing staff are amazing and are providing excellent care for her. Having previously worked in investigative and safeguarding roles, both for young and older vulnerable people I have no concerns regarding my mother's care at Downham Grange.
I thought I would offer some feedback on what I consider the level of care and general atmosphere at the Grange. My grandfather feels very safe and well looked after and I feel reassured enormously by this.
My Wife and I spent two memorable weeks in The Grange Care home. I went for respite after a knee operation and my wife needed the care that I was unable to give. Staff were responsive when asked and some went out of their way to be helpful. The young girls in the food dept worked hard and were most kind. One young lady excelled, she always responded when asked and her care and kindness were exceptional. She will go far in her chosen career. Another who when I had a problem with my knee, responded and acted quickly he checked the wound, he arranged for transport to the local Medical Centre, I thank him for his quick action. All the clerical staff were helpful and overall I applaud the Care Home for the treatment they provided. I would also say the cleanliness provided by the cleaning staff was of a very high standard. We send our best wishes to all the staff.
Overall the experience I have had with the care of my mother is positive. The staff is wonderful and I have noticed an improvement in the activities. The food is great. The only negative points I have is that my mother is still without the appropriate remote control for her TV and her picture has yet to be hung on her bedroom wall. A blanket and 2 throws have also gone missing.
Mum's behaviour is very challenging. She has vascular dementia with paranoia, which is very severe at times. The staff are very patient and caring with Mum and do their best to try and encourage her to take her medication and accept personal care. Mum needs constant reassurance that she is safe, which they try hard to do. I'm always kept up to date on Mum and informed of any problems her paranoia is causing them in caring for her. The home is always spotless and the food appetising.
