View Full Details of Furze Hill HouseMy mother is so happy at Furze Hill. She has a lovely relationship with the staff and they are kind and patient with her. Whenever we visit the home and her room is clean. There are plenty of activities for all residents to join in. I cannot ask for anything more.
When entering Furze Hill, I am always welcomed, and when necessary, a staff member will tell me if any clothing my brother requires. The day I visited it was my brother's birthday and a cake was made to celebrate. We sat in the communal area, talking about the day. I saw a member of staff talking with other residents and helping with puzzles. During this visit we were offered tea and coffee with biscuits. My brother is known by many staff members.
Everything at Furze Hill is absolutely amazing. Mum has been living here for 5 years. The staff are first class in everything they do for mum nothing is too much trouble. We as a family are informed about every thing around mums care. We would 100% recommend Furze Hill.
Dad moved into Furze Hill in July 2024 when he was not coping at home on his own due to increasing dementia. The staff have been very understanding about his needs. He suffered a broken hip in November and, since his return from hospital, has required a higher level of care from the staff, which has been brilliant.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for the whole team without exception. At no point have I questioned that they want my mother's time there to be the best it can possibly be, unfortunately they are being help back by the conditions created by the building itself, it seems not possible to control and keep an acceptable and not oppressive temperature level. The lounge in particular stands out as a problem, her own room has also been a problems. We need the Salvation Army to step up and provide the backing and expertise to rectify the building heating problem which is seriously letting them down. Any low marks only due to the building.
My wife has been so well looked after at times when she gets upset, they are fantastic staff. Not only do they care so well for my wife they also give me so much help in good and upsetting times. I can always have tea and biscuits and juice, I can also have a meal with my wife every day if I want. My wife at times can be so upset and with her walking not good the staff are truly magnificent. When I go home after visiting I know she is safe with plenty of car and love. Thank you so much.
Much patience, much care, much compassion.
I find the staff at Furze Hill House very attentive and caring towards my mother's needs. I was visiting my mother and was in the room when staff came in to weigh, wash and dress her, they were kind, encouraging her to do as much as she could for herself while making her feel safe and secure. The staff are cheerful, and my mother is happy. She is encouraged to socialise taking part in activities with others, which she enjoys.
We sadly had to move my mum into care in November 2022. As much as we wanted to keep her at home we knew we couldn't keep her safe there any longer. It was one of the hardest decisions we had to make. However, since mum has been at Furze Hill House she really has flourished. To have such a kind and caring environment we have seen that constant state of anxiety she used to have reduce. She is so content and as hard as the decision to move her was we are so grateful we did, and that it was Furze Hill she went to. The staff go above and beyond, they are like a big family and that really comes across every time we visit. I find all the staff approachable and they listen to any concerns we may have. Even better, they feedback on any concerns they may have regarding mum and keep you well informed. I cannot thank every member of the team at Furze Hill enough for everything they have done for mum and for us! Being able to sleep at night knowing she is cared for is priceless.
My dad was in your lovely care home for respite. He had been a bit poorly. He arrived in a wheelchair and was nonverbal. After a few weeks, he made amazing progress. The manager is passionate about her role and always goes above and beyond her duty of care. The staff are dedicated caregivers. We knew his carer when our mum was a resident here five years ago. We knew Mum was in good hands. She made my dad feel at ease at all times. She reassured him and comforted him when he was feeling anxious. The care and love the team shows to their residents is amazing! My dad left Furze Hill talking and walking with the aid of a stick and with confidence too! You truly are amazing! We can't thank you enough!
Well-run care home, with nice staff who are infinitely patient (some residents with dementia are sometimes quite difficult). Warm and friendly atmosphere. My wife suffers from a neurological condition leaving her crippled, blind and unable to communicate but she seems not unhappy and still manages rapport with staff.
We are more than happy with the way my cousin has been cared for and over the months we can see she has settled well. The home and the staff are excellent and we are really pleased with everything.
I've been so impressed by Furze Hill House in the few months since my mother moved there. The staff are simply wonderful. They're friendly, helpful and patient (even when getting demands from every direction!) and they always treat the residents with great kindness and respect. The management team have been really supportive too. It's clear to see that my mum is being well looked after. The care home itself is always clean, bright and welcoming. There's also a very active programme of events and activities for the residents. Since I live far away, I particularly appreciate the social media updates - it's lovely to be able to get a taste of what's going on and gives me something extra to talk about when I visit.
My mother moved into Furze Hill last summer after breaking her hip and becoming wheelchair-bound to further add to her advancing Alzheimer's. The team were great in helping and advising us on getting things sorted as quickly as we could. The team are happy, friendly, kind and professional, creating a positive and happy atmosphere in the home that is often missing. The social media page is very active and a wonderful way to check in on the many and varied activities and see my beloved mum. Most importantly, I think that the quality of care and management is very high. Both for my mum, but also care and consideration for my dad, as he adjusts and copes with living alone and my mum's condition. The only thing that I think could be improved is the food, it often looks frozen or out of a packet, portion sizes are often small and seconds are limited. My mum is inevitably declining as she has a terminal condition, but I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else. Thank you to all the team.
Since the resident arrived at Furze Hill in April 2023, she has been extremely well cared for. All the staff in every department are very professional and caring. They all seem to be working in a happy environment which filters down to making the residents feel comfortable and happy. The resident was in a care home prior to Furze Hill where she became very depressed and lonely as little attention was paid to her. This changed immediately after she arrived at Furze Hill and she is now her happy mischievous self again. All the staff are very attentive and there is so much interaction between staff and residents it’s amazing. I think good management and staff are key at Furze Hill, nothing appears to be too much trouble. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
Management and staff go the extra mile to ensure residents have the best possible experience, including special events such as Valentine's, summer BBQ, fireworks, Christmas and New Year events. Lovely, clean, purpose-built care home. Great facilities. Nowhere better for people with Alzheimer’s. Would strongly recommend.
I find the carers at Furze Hill to be very good to the residents that live there. The food is also good. Seems a happy place to be, and something is going on for residents to do mornings and afternoons if they wish.
My mother has been in this care home since 2020. Her deterioration has been significant since. She is often left alone in her room as she refuses to get out of bed. I have asked many times for her to have a milky coffee and a banana for breakfast which she only gets occasionally. Pressure area care is good, the home is clean and the facilities are good. Communication between myself and the managers is excellent. The home has lots of activities and is always warm. My mum always looks very smart.
A lovely care home in a peaceful setting surrounded by woodland and wildlife. Care staff and management are always kind and helpful. Excellent facilities; hairdresser, small shop and manicurist as well as chef produce and a lovely variety of meals, cakes and etc. Visitors are always welcomed and there are many activities for everyone to join in if they wish.
My husband has and is receiving the most caring and compassionate support in this home. The staff are like family now. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They always have a friendly smile and will go over and above their duty to accommodate his needs. He and my family cannot raise them enough. It's the next best thing to being at home for him.
