View Full Details of Glendon HouseAfter it was determined that my Dad needed more constant care, we approached a couple of care homes but were impressed with how quickly the Manager at Glendon was able to come to the hospital to assess his needs, and then to come back to confirm they had the skills and resources to look after him. My Dad then moved into Glendon mid-January 2025. As it turned out my Dad was not planning on spending much time at Glendon, and sadly passed away after just a couple of months. However, I would say that I cannot imagine how he could have been better looked after during that short time. The staff at Glendon were all absolutely marvellous: so friendly, helpful and genuinely caring. The care home is beautifully located just a short wheelchair push to the beach. It is very clean and welcoming with a lovely quarterly newsletter available to tell the visitor all about the activities and visitors they have been having. The food looked really good too and management kept us well informed.
My husband has been at Glendon House for eleven weeks now. He has dementia. Although he would rather be at home with me, he is content and well looked after. I can visit him at any time and take him out. The manager and team leaders are always there to answer any questions. All the staff are friendly, patient and caring. The food is excellent, I have Sunday lunch there most weekends. There is a programme of activities every morning and afternoon and organised outings. It is a happy, homely care home and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
My wife has been a resident at Glendon House for only a few weeks after moving in directly from a stay in hospital. During her stay, there has already been a noticeable improvement in her demeanour and she now has many more good days than bad. She has no complaints regarding the staff, food or accommodation but would appreciate a little more care being taken over the correct return of certain items that have been taken to be laundered.
Excellent care home, fantastic setting, clean and tidy at all times. Stadd are fantastic and very friendly. My family member has been here for almost 2 years, she is very happy with everything within the care home and all the staff.
My mother has been living at Glendon House for nearly six months and has settled in very nicely. She is well looked after by all the caring staff and is very happy there. I am pleased with all the activities that the home has to offer to keep Mum entertained. The gardens and grounds are kept lovely as well. The manager and her team are always at hand and approachable for any questions that I may have and deal with them in a reassuring way.
I cannot praise Glendon House and staff of all grades or appointments I've seen this first-hand and simply cannot fault anything in fact I'm extremely impressed with everything I've seen, the residents are extremely well looked after and catered for in every way.
Glendon House is set in a picturesque garden which is well-maintained with numerous flowers, trees and shrubs. There are deer, pheasants and squirrels as well as blackbirds, robins, blue, great and long-tailed tits which all use the 3 bird feeding stations. There is also an enclosed paving stone courtyard with ample tables, chairs and benches. The home is warm, safe and has spacious clean rooms and good food in particular the lunches. The owner encourages an ethos of personalisation in making it your home and is prompt to please. The home is well run by a manager who is approachable, positive and willing to give you her time and attention, she is ably supported by an experienced deputy manager. The team leaders are informative, caring, dedicated and enthusiastic and the staff are friendly and kind. The home benefits from a designated activities/events co-ordinator as well as a gardener and maintenance man. Pets are welcome and relatives are able to stay for meals.
Our aunt had been in another care home since March 2020 and had been developing dementia over the past few years. It was thought that her care would be more suited at a dedicated dementia care home. We approached Glendon House who were most accommodating and excepted our aunt into their fold. In the three weeks that our aunt has been a resident, she has settled in well and is becoming more like her old self. All the staff are more than welcoming whenever we phone to see how auntie is getting on, they will always take the time to chat with us or assist auntie with her needs. We believe that our auntie is more than 100% benefitting from being at Glendon House and will continue to do so and be happy in her new surroundings.
My mother is a resident at Glendon House, she has lived here for the last three years. All the staff treat her with dignity and respect and she is well cared for. Level of care is good, if I have concerns the team is happy to listen and are very obliging. I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to others. Always maintained a good CQC report.
It is a lovely care home and the staff are excellent and very helpful. My mum is very happy here and I'm relaxed knowing she is looked after with the best of care.
My stepdad was at Glendon house from April 2023 to October 2023, he received excellent care all the while he was there, all the staff from domestic, kitchen, care and management are excellent. The whole team could not do enough for him. The facilities are very clean and comfortable. Lovely gardens to sit in, lots of events going on to keep residents busy. Lovely seaside village, can go down on the beach a lot to do. The care home is a five-star facility, absolutely amazing thank you all so much.
My mother lived at Glendon House for four years and four months. She was very happy there. She loved all the carers and they looked after her with love and respect. She enjoyed the food and some of the activities, especially painting and listening to singers - she very much enjoyed anything to do with music. I can't praise the staff at Glendon House highly enough - everyone was kind and friendly to me and knowing that Mum was so happy in her last years is all a daughter could wish for. Thank you everyone at Glendon - I will never forget you.
My mother came to Glendon House following a difficult eight-week stay in the hospital. She was very frail and needed real care due to her lack of mobility and I feel that our expectations of the home were surpassed greatly. The lovely staff, many of whom are highly experienced, showed such a caring manner and we felt that nothing was too much trouble and we were always made to feel very welcome. The manager is a lovely lady and her caring nature is reflected in the way that the home operates.
From what I have observed as a visitor and friend to a resident, the home has a very friendly staff of mixed races (very good) and my friend appears to be well looked after and cared for. Her appetite is not good as she is very poorly but food is always offered and encouraged. I am treated in a really helpful way and my visit to her is a pleasure.
My husband has just spent one year in Glendon House. Unfortunately, he was admitted to hospital a week ago and now needs nursing care. I can't praise the care and attention he received during his care highly enough. Glendon House became my second home, I was always made to feel welcome and any concerns regarding my husband were taken on board and acted upon. I will miss my visits and the staff.
My wife was placed in the care of Glendon House in July 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, therefore, making the experience even more difficult for my family and me. The staff have been excellent in keeping us informed regarding her health and wellbeing, always giving us time to talk and discuss matters of concern - now visiting is possible we can see she is very happy which gives us peace of mind.
My Dad has been a resident of Glendon House since 2017. He is extremely happy and settled at Glendon House. All the staff are fabulous, friendly and look after my Dad as one of the family. I am confident that my Dad is being extremely well looked after twenty four seven. Throughout Dad's residency here the staff have supported me when there may have been a medical issue with Dad, nothing is too much trouble for them. Dad never has a complaint! He tells me the food is good and he can choose whether to take part in the many activities that are laid on. I would say these last few years have been some of Dad's happiest and I am sure he will continue to feel happy at Glendon House. All the staff get a massive ten out of ten from me and Dad!
My mother has been a resident of Glendon House a while now, and I cannot fault it at all. All the staff and management are very approachable and kind if there are any issues it is quickly sorted out. My mother has benefited from being there 100%, and she is happy.
Just love sending my Mum here for respite. Carers are fantastic although there does seem to be a mañana across the home. Food is good and just love the residents. But laundry, Mum has stayed here three to four times now and I have to go back every time to collect missing items even though most are tagged. I take photos of each item packed. They so need a nominated person to do laundry rather than a disorganised approach.
My review covers from 28/08/2018 to date. My advice to a friend concerning their relative would depend on the mental condition of the relative. I must stress that Glendon House is more for dementia than residential. To me, residents with violent tendencies should not be allowed to wander freely and distress others. Carers, when asked for help in this respect, reply there is nothing they can do. For residents like these, surely a separate unit is required. One resident, despite treatment, remained the same, threatening me with clawed hands and to avoid him, I have all my meals in my room. Management pleasant and approachable, tackles and does her best to solve problems quickly. Staff kind, friendly and caring. I myself, exceptionally, am fairly mentally alert and mildly active, if in health, need help with washing, bathing, hair wash etc. Cannot genuinely comment on activities, avoiding depression, seek social life elsewhere. In bed with a bout of illness lately. Staff absolutely marvellous. Immediate attention from especially night staff. I am happy here.
