View Full Details of Harker HouseI came with my sister to see a resident at Harker House Long Stratton and we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. The entrance lobby was decorated in celebratory colours for valentines day and it was very well done. The staff that we encountered were very friendly and we had a lovely visit, we will be back.
Have visited our relative three times since she has been in Harker House. Every time we have been pleased with the situation. She is very happy has a lovely clean room and says the food is good. She also enjoys the entertainment. All the staff we have met have been very pleasant + smiles all round.
Great reception and friendly. Made welcome straight away.
We as a family have been more than happy with the quality of care that my mother has received for the past 16 months until she sadly passed away before Christmas. Any issues or concerns that we raised were dealt with promptly. The wellbeing of the residents was always put first with activities most days, my mum especially enjoyed the trips out. The home is kept immaculate by the domestic staff and home cooked food is enjoyed by the residents. The environment is homely and like one big family due to all the caring staff. Any health concerns were brought to the attention of the GP by the staff with us being made aware. Mum came to think of the carers as part of her family, Harker House will always hold a special place in our hearts, we will miss our visits. The home is run by an amazing manager, he has been such a great support in mums final weeks arranging special equipment nothing was too much trouble to keep mum comfortable and support us as a family. Thank you everyone at Harker.
Since my mother has been under the care of Harker House, I've noticed a big improvement on both my mothers physical and mental health. Thanking all the team at Harker House for all your care, attention and support. Management and all staff are always happy.
I am so happy with the care and support that my mum has at Harker House. The staff are kind and caring. All excellent. Makes me feel at ease knowing she is getting the best care. Also, it's so clean everywhere, always made to feel welcome too. The best care ever for my mum.
My mum went to live in Harker House in June this year when she needed more care than I could provide at my home. She was very nervous but by day two was joining in the bingo and booking herself onto group days out. Whenever I visited her, I was overwhelmed by the Care the staff gave, and I mean all staff, caregivers, catering, cleaners, admin, management, everyone. Sadly my mum's health took a downward turn very quickly and she suffered a few falls during the night. Once again, Harker House staff took the greatest of care with her and I was kept informed immediately so that I could make my way to the hospital. My mum sadly passed away in July after the heart failure she had had for years finally took her but I can honestly say that her last few weeks were filled with love and care and much of that was attributable to the staff at Harker House to whom I will be forever grateful.
Good care. Good stimulation. Clean and well looked after home. Kind caring staff.
I can not put into words how thankful I am to the carers at Harker House. My grandad was lucky enough to live here for two years. Every day there are activities for the residents ranging from singing and bingo to boccia and balloon tennis, visits from performers and even donkeys and kittens. Sadly my grandad has just passed away. He was cared for with such love until his last breath. The love that was felt by the carers was overwhelming and made me feel peace. I know that the whole time my grandad was at Harker House he was loved, listened to and treated with dignity and respect. I will miss going to Harker House and seeing all the staff and residents but most of all I'm thankful that my grandad and family had the chance to have Harker House in our lives. Thank you.
Management and staff are very supportive. I had my privacy. We were served the food we preferred. Activities are nice and good. Thank you for everything!
My dad became a resident at Harker in Oct 22 and more recently has been joined by Mum as well. Both had previously been receiving respite care in other local private care homes and whilst they received a good standard of care elsewhere there is one very big difference - they are businesses, Harker is one big family. Every member of staff from the managers to cooks, the carers to handyman treat the residents like they are their own family, no matter how busy anyone is they have a smile and a friendly word for residents and visitors. Ok, so the rooms might not be the poshest and the building might be a little tired but you need to look past that and witness the care, warmth and love which echoes throughout. There is nowhere else I would want my parents to be. Harker made Xmas so special, there was so much going on from singers to pantomines, choirs to a charity. It's not just for Xmas though, every day there is something happening, they have so much fun.
My nan is in Harker House and seems very happy there. I enjoy visiting her as the staff are always really friendly and welcoming. There’s always loads of activities going on, it’s never boring! You can tell the staff genuinely cares about the residents
Brother-in-law was in Harker House for two weeks and absolutely loved it. He was treated extremely well and encouraged in all aspects. In my own words "I was lucky to get a place here and I don't want to leave" Sadly, he passed away recently. Highly recommend Harker House.
My brother loved it at Harker House and all his visitors said that's the sort of place they would like to be in.
I really enjoy living at Harker House. The staff are considerate. The food is excellent and the activities are good and varied.
Harker House is such a pleasant care home. All staff are welcoming and very attentive when it comes to the needs of the residents. Managers go above and beyond to fulfil everyone’s needs. The Christmas fayre was amazing to see and be a part of. Lots of people, everyone was happy and the money raised has gone towards the amenities fund for the residents to give them a better quality of life. They have a good choice of activities, from seated exercises, bingo and outside entertainers on regular basis and something I haven’t seen before; a giant tablet. Very clean and always smells nice. Decor is very up to date.
Harker House is excellent. The staff are always friendly as are the residents. The two in the deputy manager's office are excellent. The food is excellent, plenty of choice. The rooms are comfortable, especially the beds. The entertainment is excellent, I get happy tears and sometimes I will join in. Having the call buzzer is excellent, they are always there. I feel it's always easier at Harker House.
My grandad has been in Harker House since late last year and myself, and my family cannot thank or praise the caring staff enough. My mum is more relaxed that he is receiving effective, and person-centred care. A lot of our family work in Healthcare all holding different frontline positions, and we acknowledge the hard work that the staff do.
My mum spent the last two years of her life at Harker House. Both the family and her were reluctant at first for her to go into care but it was unsafe for her to remain in her bungalow. From the very first day she was made welcome, and after the initial upset at leaving her home she soon settled in and was very happy there. All the staff are very friendly and caring and all her needs were met. The home is clean, the food very good and management is exceptional. My family and I have no hesitation in recommending Harker House to anyone considering a home for their loved one.
My Father spent two and a half years at Harker House before he passed away in June 2022. The staff were unbeatable. He was in the dementia unit and their tireless work through the covid pandemic must earn each a medal for care and devotion to their residents. My father had his quality of life lifted with the 24/7 care he received and if it wasn't for places like this he wouldn't have had that extra two and a half years if he had stayed in his home. I hope Harker House and all the other care homes get the funding from the government that they richly deserved. On behalf of my family thank you for all you did for him.
