View Full Details of Laurel LodgeThe staff at Laurel Lodge are amazing. Thoughtful, kind and always ready to help my mother. They are very friendly and will keep me updated after GP visits or any appointments. The home is clean and tidy and the staff are very knowledgeable with manual handling.
My mother has been in this care home for just over 1 year. She has dementia and was unable to live alone. She loved socialising with other residents, dancing and singing in the lounge gave her a new lease of life. The staff are second to none. They all called her by name and were understanding of her needs. The boys were particular favourites. Spoiling her with cups of tea, biscuits and chocolates on demand. Her spacious, warm room was upstairs, fully equipped with an en-suite and television. As a family we knew she was safe, should her wonder lust emerge. We had previously used the provision before. For our aunt, her sister. She too was very happy here. Alas, Mum has just passed. The staff are super supportive and we cannot thank each and every one of them enough for the kindness and care given.
Mum has been at Laurel Lodge for 2 years and we are very happy with the level of care that she receives. Not only are her medical and physical needs well met, but the kindness and care of the staff with regard to her are worthy of note. Each time I have visited, the public areas are spotless, Mum's room is always clean and tidy, her clothes beautifully laundered and Mum herself, clean and tidy, and the staff have time to do her hair and make up for her. No one wants their loved one to have to go into care, but if you have to, then I hope you will find a place with staff as kind and helpful as they are here.
Welcomed at the front door by a friendly staff member. I was offered a drink while I was visiting. I was made to feel welcomed and was treated with respect by every staff member I came into contact with. Nothing seemed too much. My friend seemed really settled and happy to be here.
The overall care within the home is excellent. The staff are kind, respectful and mostly efficient. However, some staff lack watching for detail and supervision in that area needs improving. Overall though I feel my mother is safe and cared for. The food is also extremely good and the catering staff are kind and very professional.
What amazing staff, always so lovely and friendly.
I came to Laurel Lodge on the 20th of June 2023 and found the staff both friendly and welcoming. I am here as a temporary resident giving my husband the chance to recover after having a mild stroke. Luckily, my family are close by, allowing them to visit me on a regular basis. I have found the atmosphere of Laurel Lodge to be a happy one.
Although the home in general is a clean welcoming place, the staff are friendly and helpful. I feel the garden area to the right-hand side of the Laurel Lodge could do with a tidy-up, so it cheers up the residents who look out to overgrown areas. I took plants and bulbs but too many weeds etc to plant new things. I realize with the dry weather it is difficult to dig but maybe it is with a thought for the future.
My nan is very happy at Laurel Lodge. The staff are generally lovely on the whole and look after her very well. She doesn't like being offered showers by male members of staff. Some staff she can't hear very well. Her room is fine, and the layout is slightly poor with the TV to the side of her. Difficult to watch in bed. Her room could do with a clean more often. The activities are age appropriate and she tries to join in. Generally, a great place for nan to be. I personally do not like her room, other rooms have patio doors onto the gardens but she has no real view and when she stays in bed she is staring at a wardrobe and a toilet door.
Everyone at Laurel Lodge has given my mother good care. She has been very poorly and was bedridden for two years. the exceptional staff have supported my mum into a moving recliner/chair over the last few weeks and now she can join in with everybody in the lounge. This has transferred her quality of life and my sisters and I cannot thank everybody enough for going the extra mile.
My mother-in-law lived at Laurel Lodge Care Home for around eleven months. It took her a while to settle in but once she did it was like she had a new lease of life! She participated in all of the activities when she could, she was happy and socialising with the other residents. Laurel Lodge has such a lovely atmosphere with a homely feel which makes it feel different to other care homes. The staff are absolutely amazing, they genuinely care, they are supportive of the residents and their families, nothing is ever too much trouble and they go above and beyond what anyone would expect of them. As a family, we can’t thank them enough for the care, love and support they gave Mum whilst she was there and to us, as a family. It is really hard to put into words how grateful we are, as a family, for what they gave Mum whilst she was in their care. Laurel Lodge is a credit to the Black Swan Care Group and as a business, you should be proud of this team. I would 100% recommend Laurel Lodge.
It was mum's birthday this month and I'd ranged for a few of her friends to come and take tea. Nothing was too much trouble for the care home, they arrange for us to have a little party in the family room, they set up balloons a table with a tablecloth, plates, tea and coffee essentially everything we needed for a lovely afternoon with friends. It made Mum's Day I'm all of her friends left saying how wonderful and kind the care home were. They even arranged for mum to have her own special cake and say Happy birthday too. The staff at Laurel Lodge always go above and beyond on a daily basis and I can't thank them enough for their time and care in looking after Mum. If you're thinking of your loved one going into care I would 100% recommend Laurel Lodge.
My father(89) initially went into Laurel Lodge for two weeks of respite care from living independently with a little help from the family. However, he was finding it hard and lonely and after looking around we chose Laurel Lodge for a holiday. From the first time, I looked around the staff have been brilliant, answering all my daft questions and making my dad feel very welcome. They explain that Laurel lodge is the resident's home and they are lucky enough to work in their home. There is always a cuppa on offer and the food has been amazing. His medication is delivered to him regularly when it should be and this with the regular good food has seen him improve and put the rest of the family's concerns for him at rest. The contact with staff and other residents, and the regular entertainment has ensured he is able to have conversations and mental stimulation. The McMillan coffee morning and recent summer fair show the home care about not only organising events for the residents but also their families.
My uncle needs/still needs care following a hip replacement. Although it was planned for him to go into Laurel Lodge I need to get him in early. During that time and since the people at Laurel Lodge have been nothing but helpful, friendly, professional and kind. It is an excellent care home. The team there have really got to know me and my uncle and the overall atmosphere is superb. I would thoroughly recommend Laurel Lodge to anyone.
My mum moved to Laurel Lodge in early January 2022 and was very unwell. The staff have worked wonders in restoring Mum's health and strength to a point where Mum has been able to return home safely. While Mum has been living in Laurel Lodge, it really has been a home from home, it is run very well, and all staff are caring and helpful. Concerned not just for Mum's well-being but for the whole family. We'd all highly recommend Laurel Lodge either for respite or as a permanent home.
Mum was a resident at Laurel Lodge for nearly two years and the care she received throughout her stay was excellent. Regular and open communication with staff both before and during the pandemic ensured that the family was always kept up to date. Visits and video chats were always enabled, and even during the most difficult times over the past months, we have always felt completely confident of the levels of care Mum received. Staff are well trained, dedicated and most of all genuinely caring. Food and drink are plentiful and varied and staff went to extra efforts to ensure that Mum could have something that she enjoyed, even as a medical condition made it extremely difficult for her to chew and swallow. We cannot speak highly enough of the staff and management of this home, who supported Mum so brilliantly during some very difficult months and cared for her so kindly through to the end of her life. We could not have chosen a better home for her.
My wife is the step-daughter of a resident. He has been a resident for over 5 years. All aspects of his care have been, and are, excellent. He has a lovely room. The staff are very kind and considerate to him whatever his mood or the time of day. He is very fond of the staff and regards them as his friends and family, and they respond accordingly. My father-in-law says that he never wants to be anywhere else. He always wants them to look after him. Because of a swallowing problem the staff go out of their way to give him the food he likes and needs and look after him very carefully when he is eating his meals. My father-in-law has a special interest in Norwich City Football Club and they promote his contact with the Club. Prior to Covid, they accompanied him to a match, which he thoroughly enjoyed. They always go the extra mile to make sure he and all the residents get the care and attention they need. Throughout Covid, we have been kept fully informed of the situation at the home.
My mother went to live in Laurel Lodge in December of last year. I was impressed with the way in which the staff kept me informed of how she was coping as obviously, due to Covid, I was not able to visit. My mother settled in really well and now I am able to visit her I feel she is very well looked after. She has even put on weight as she is now eating proper meals! The staff are all very kind and friendly and there is a nice, cheerful atmosphere.
Mum moved into Laurel Lodge at the start of the pandemic, June 2020 and Dad followed her in the October 2020. The manager was determined to get them back together, (Dad being originally in another home just for respite care). She managed to find a room for Dad without any hesitation. The care they have both received since being in there has been second to none. Even setting up a 'date night' for them - complete with a meal, live music from the staff and flowers for Mum. They had missed their 68th wedding anniversary while apart, so this was a lovely gesture by the staff. I cannot praise them enough for everything they do for Mum and Dad. The adjustment to living in a home for Dad has been harder than for Mum - but through all his little, and large, quirks, they have kept smiling and taken it all in their stride. Mum has settled really well, has put on weight and is thriving. It's so good to see, as last year at this time we wondered how long we would have her for. Wonderful staff and care.
Mum has been a resident at Laurel Lodge for three years. During this time I can only praise the management and staff for the care they have given Mum and the kindnesses extended to her and the family. Sadly our visits have been restricted during the Covid pandemic but with good reason and the outcome has been that we have never feared for Mum's safety either from the virus or from isolation. Contact with the Laurel Lodge team has been first-rate throughout and they have done a brilliant job of keeping Covid out of the home. Having to choose a care home for a loved one is never going to be a welcome experience but we are so pleased that we found Mum a room at Laurel Lodge and we (and Mum) would make the same choice again without hesitation.
