View Full Details of The Laurels Care HomeAll the staff at The Laurels are amazing, from management to domestic staff and everyone in between. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming - they feel like a second family. Despite clearly working really hard they always find time to say a few words, give a smile or a hug, or allay any concerns regarding my mum's health or behaviour. I know Mum's in good hands and trust every person who works there. 'Carer' is such a benign title but these people truly care and it's so very appreciated.
My mum has only been here for almost 4 weeks! But the team at The Laurels have been very welcoming, friendly, approachable and helpful! I'm still getting to grips with it all but Mum has settled well and we are happy with her care!
Visited my wife in The Laurels yesterday as was her birthday. Very pleasant environment, seems to have been recently decorated. Staff were very pleasant and the manager and deputy manager were prepared to chat to me about my wife's condition.
Mum is bedridden and has been a resident for well over a year. Standards have improved significantly over the last few months. Staff are genuinely helpful and caring and more importantly, friendly. Used to be difficult to get someone to come to the door to let you in or out but now much improved. Took a while to sort an issue of a resident entering Mum's room and taking her possessions but a pressure mat at the doorway to alert staff has helped. Most important though is the fact that Mum herself seems happy and contented in the home.
The staff at the care home are hard-working, caring and supportive towards my brother. Dementia is a horrible disease and to see a member of the family go into demise with it is awful, but knowing that there are people who are trained in the care of these patients gives one peace of mind in the knowledge that all is being done to keep them comfortable, safe and supported in their day to day lives. Personal touches towards residents give them the reassurance to know that carers understand their needs and are there to help them when needed. The changes over recent months have elevated the Laurels to become a more respected care provider and I'm so happy to have my brother in their care. Many thanks for all your hard work.
My mothers doing extremely well. She’s happy and content, has made friends with some of the residents and is taking part in all the activities. All the staff are caring and very friendly, and when I visit Mum, I always feel very welcomed. The Laurels staff work well together as a team and are always busy organising events for the resident's families and friends to attend. Only last week most of my family spent a wonderful afternoon with my mum; we all wore our Christmas jumpers and had lots of fun and laughter. When we leave Mum, we know that she’s happy and very well cared for, and that’s what you want to see. As a family, we are extremely grateful to all the staff at The Laurels for taking good care of our dear Mum.
My mother was left for 13 hours with a broken hip because of the inexperience of your staff. My mother later died in hospital after a hip operation on Christmas Day. There were instances where the pressure mat in her bedroom had been disconnected.
The care my dad has received over the last few months has been really good. He went through a stage of falling and going into hospital, all in all, 9 times. Thanks to the dedication of the staff and managerial team he has improved massively. I’ve worked in the care industry for over 15 years so I’m aware of issues that arise but I can safely say over the last few months things have been good for him and myself. Any little problem I address immediately and it is dealt with promptly and professionally.
My room is always kept very clean by the cleaning team. Everyone tries to put my things back to where I like them to be. I am very particular about where I like things put. The carers are all very good to me and very patient with me. I am looked after very well the staff are all very friendly and I enjoy chatting with them. The kitchen staff are very good and the new cooks have a gluten-free menu which is better and more varied and I am enjoying my food more.
My father-in-law moved into The Laurels Care Home in January this year due to loss of mobility which left him unable to care for himself. He has struggled to come to terms with the loss of his independence and has often not been an easy resident to help and care for. The care workers, management and everyone from maintenance to chefs have worked so hard to help him settle in, suggesting ideas to make him happier and more comfortable and communicating with us throughout. The staff create a lovely family feel at The Laurels Care Home and we are very impressed with their professionalism and care.
This is a huge decision for any family to make. But so glad we chose The Laurels Care Home as Mum's next home from home. Mum has settled in really well, it took a little while understandably, it was a big change for her and the family. We've made her room very familiar to her with bits of her own furniture. Care is very good. The manager is great, nothing is too much trouble. We can visit anytime of day or night or take Mum out for the day or a sleepover! There's different activities each day for the residents to join in if they want to, from bingo to singers coming in entertaining everyone. It's a great relief knowing Mum is being well looked after. Thank you to the whole team!
Dad (97 years) moved to The Laurels Care Home in mid-December 2022 after being bed-bound in the hospital for eight weeks, his dementia was also taking a grip. Since his arrival, he has received excellent care and support. When visiting, family members are made to feel welcome, a staff member always popping in to speak of Dad's welfare. I have received two WhatsApp photos of Dad sitting in a chair within the Community Lounge, something we did not expect to see, it is very reassuring. We receive telephone calls to discuss Dad's health and well-being. Nothing seems too much trouble. All those who have visited Dad have found him well cared for, comfortable, well fed and content. The family know him to be safe. Staff at The Laurels have helped us to navigate this difficult time and to feel the right decision has been made. Thank you.
I've got nothing but praise for all the team. We have received support for many years and they helped to keep Dad independent and happy in his golden years. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
The staff at The Laurels Care Home are kind, caring, compassionate and friendly towards residents and family members. There is a great menu on offer every day, it is clean and has a lovely atmosphere with wonderful activities for residents to take part in.
From the outset, it was evident that every member of staff here really, really cares. My mother was admitted with pretty advanced Alzheimer’s and as such was needy, to say the least. I witnessed the kindness and care I would have given her myself. One of the senior carers, in particular, a nicer more loving and more caring person, you could not meet.
My Fathers happiness, dignity and safety are paramount. Care is being provided, maintaining his individual needs; opportunities to express himself are respected, enabling empowerment. The team are very gentle and kind in their approach. It is a two-way partnership, staff listening to concerns or requests of family members. Dad happily wanders around, thoroughly enjoying safe access to the courtyard gardens. Weather permitting, participating in small gardening tasks, and growing vegetables. The team are well led, and from observations, staff work well together. He is seen, when required by medical staff from GP practice. Staff are knowledgeable of his needs and consistent. We are able to visit at any time, contact staff by phone, and send letters and parcels to Dad, to maintain 'normal' forms of communication. It is most distressing when a much-loved member of your family requires full-time care, seeing Dad stabilised and settled since admission has been so comforting. Thank you.
It is a few months since I last visited The Laurels. I must say that I was very impressed with the changes made. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A lovely atmosphere.
The Owner, Manager, and Staff of this family run care home have provided excellent care and a comfortable safe, clean environment for my Mother for the last eighteen months. While you try to look after family in their own environment for as long as possible, there inevitably comes a time when this is no longer possible, and I would thoroughly recommend this home to any families who are contemplating residential care.
Visited with my friend to visit her grandmother. I felt the staff were lovely and caring, lovely menu on offer that day and had pictures of meals which I felt was really good as there are people with Dementia. The home has a new manager and I can see the changes that have been made in the last couple of months.
I visited the home with my Dog Wispa for Pat a Pet morning for the residents arranged by the New Activities Coordinator. The Activities Coordinator engaged well with the residents, was knowlagable of their individual needs and residents where truly happy to see her. The Manager was welcoming, approachable and showed interest in what I was doing for the residents. All staff where friendly and helpful. Residents seemed happy and well looked after.
