View Full Details of Mill House Care CentreMy mother has been a resident at Mill House for 18 months, she receives a high level of support, interaction and personal care from the team. She is happy and well looked after and has built a bond with many of the care team during her time there. The leadership is very effective and the general operation and surroundings are comfortable, clean and safe. The gardens are well-maintained and provide a pleasant outdoor space. The team at Mill House are welcoming and have good rapport with family members and visitors. Communication concerning resident needs and care/health questions are dealt with promptly. I have witnessed genuine warmth from the team and observed respect and dignity for residents. Activities are planned and geared towards the residents' engagement needs and provide some much-needed entertainment.
Mum had been a resident of Mill House for 7 years when she sadly died on April the 7th 2024. The care and support for both her and myself was unsurpassable. Mum died surrounded by love and care and with immense dignity. Her care over the past 7 years has been wonderful. She was immensely happy and the staff were always so respectful and full of care and compassion. The only blip was two years ago when a lot of agency staff were used. The current manager is beyond compare, truly wonderful and leading a strong, caring and efficient team.
Mum in for respite care for 3 weeks, 5 days in, visited to replenish her personal items, only to be informed she had fallen the evening before. We were not told and my mum was left in pain. The on-site deputy manager at that time, eventually came and saw mum after our urgent request. She was very angry and upset. Urgent trip to A&E with suspected broken arm. We were not notified of the fall, despite leaving permission for contact anytime day or night, were it necessary. No pain relief. This has set my mum back, being unable to use her dominant hand for 3 weeks, as she had been doing. The current manager had only been there for 3 days when mum started, herself then going on her 2 weeks leave. There sadly does not appear to be sufficient enough staff/resident ratio. This has had a severe impact for respite going forward as mum becomes very angry, anxious, and rigid when confronted with such a position. I would not recommend, putting your loved ones in here at present.
My husband receives considerate care and enjoys the company of the staff who are always friendly and willing to help or answer any queries. He has settled very well after only a few months and has told me he would not like to be anywhere else.
Mill House have been excellent with Mother, as she, at times can be difficult, we had our concerns in the early days but have seen vast improvements in the condition of the home and staff. Even the gardens have seen a makeover which all helps to the overall appearance. Staff have been excellent during COVID which has been a testing time for everyone. Well done and thank you.
A lot of work has been put into Mill House, standards are much better. Staff and managers are always helpful and welcoming. The staff are very friendly to my mum and always making sure she is comfortable and supply her every needs. The building is colourful and cheerful, having worked in care myself, I know how important this is. I feel confident that my mum is in good hands and being looked after very well.
Mill House is a very friendly and welcoming care home. It is always tidy and presentable - as are all the residents I see on my visits. It is very well led - the staff are helpful and cheerful.
My Mum arrived at Mill House Care Centre at the end of Sept '20, this happened after unforeseen circumstances at her previous home, therefore another care home had to be found. We knew of the current manager and deputy at this time from previous caring, the good news was they had a vacancy to take Mum. Having knowledge of their dedication to caring was all that I needed. Unfortunately, we knew before the move that my Mum was deteriorating quite quickly, and end of life was looming, feeling content she was in good hands was such a blessing! Mill House is lovely, the staff were very kind, attentive, welcoming, nothing ever seemed too much trouble, and we were always kept well informed on how she had been between visits. My Mum passed away on the 9th Nov '20. Many thanks to the manager and the staff, her end of life care was exceptional, everything and more than we could have wished for at this very sad time. Very grateful.
What an amazing team! All the staff here are fantastic, so caring, thoughtful, polite and helpful. Mum's stay here was faultless. This place has that lovely homely feeling to it. The new lady manager is incredible and is extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of care. And her dedication to care for people is so reassuring when you are unable to see your loved one. The manager kept the family informed regularly by telephone. And my mum's end of life care was exceptional. I am so very grateful to all the staff for everything that was done for my mum. And I really do not have the words to thank you all enough. I would definitely recommend this care home.
Excellent care home, fantastic new manager. I firmly believe that this WAS one of the worst homes I’ve ever seen, but the past three months have been a whirlwind in terms of change to benefit not only my dad but everyone else too. I can’t be there to see my dad (due to COVID-19) but the manager has allowed me to video call my dad from his own phone just so we can be close. Amazing. Thank you so much to the manager and his amazing team, which has excelled under his leadership. Dad has never looked better.
My Mother has required and received care for some time now and I am constantly amazed at how well the whole team at Mill House not only do their job well but literally supply the love and care every day that I am unable to. I am always informed if there is anything other than perfect health and happiness and I have no worries at all about her care. A big "thank you" to all at Mill House for your superb professional care.
Most staff are very kind and caring but in my opinion many are not trained well, if at all and at least one does not appear to be able to care for himself. I have been informed by a senior member of staff that there has been no cleaner employed for six weeks. (That was two weeks ago) still no cleaner! Most staff do their very best in the circumstances. Some of the staff are commendable.
My uncle was only at Mill House Care Centre for a short time to receive respite care but we felt the jewel in the crown of this home was the staff. From the manager, through the ranks of the carers to the laundress and cleaners everyone has the interests for the residents as their top priority. On the many occasions that we visited my uncle we never heard one carer treat each resident with anything but kindness and compassion. The setting for this home is quiet and secluded and on sunny days the gardens and surrounding would be delightful.
The team at Mill House are fantastic . They provide my Father with excellent care and have made the difficult decision of moving my Father into care a much easier decision. They offer lots of stimulation when he up for it and allow him space when he needs to be quiet. They have and continue to work with me over the best way to care for my Father.
