View Full Details of Olive HouseThe staff always listen and act on queries and do feedback by phone. One member of staff in particular goes above and beyond to help residents and relatives. The manager is always on hand to listen and respond and noticeable improvements since she started in post e.g staff ID board, outings, more activities and the reception area is more welcoming with refreshments and reception desk.
Trips out of the care home seem to be few and far between. If a person with dementia is asked if they want to go, so how are they to know what's going on. Contact with relatives is essential when trips out, organised by the care home are coming up, so we can prepare our relative for it.
I have never seen my husband so happy and settled.
Overall very happy.
My mother arrived at Olive House in November 2023 after breaking her hip and losing her husband of 71 years. It has been a very hard time but the staff have been so thoughtful and kind to her, helping her adjust to a new way of life.
My father entered Olive House in October last year with vascular dementia and has sadly just passed away. As his condition deteriorated the care he received from the staff was above and beyond. Not only did Olive House care for my beloved father but they also supported me while coming to terms with the inevitable loss I was to expect. Thank you all at Olive House, I shall be forever grateful for all you have done for my father and the support you gave me.
My mum-in-law was initially in respite care from July to August 2023. She then became a resident at the home after her husband died in August 2023. The staff were absolutely wonderful throughout the short period of time she was with them assisting her to settle in, deal with her loss, gain confidence in socialising with other residents and treating her dementia. Although she was only at Olive House for a short period of time (5 months) the staff treated her with respect, dignity and as though she was a member of their family. They also helped all family members deal with any issues arising from her illness and then ultimately her death. We cannot thank everyone enough for their care and support.
We found Olive House after my mother spent two months recovering in hospital from a fall. We are happy with the choice we made, a very well-run home with excellent management and facilities. Being purpose-built is an advantage with everything on one level, spacious corridors and bright, airy space in the resident's lounge and dining area. There feels like a genuine caring and friendly atmosphere in the home. There is regular entertainment for residents. A well run care home.
My dad is very well cared for at Olive House. He has been there for about five months. If I mention anything to management, it soon gets sorted. On my visit today, Dad said he didn't get his breakfast until later this morning (nearly 10 am), and the lunch is ready quite early at 12.30 onwards usually, so he sometimes isn't hungry enough by then, unfortunately. It is something he is having to adjust to after living on his own and in his routine there. But this is not a complaint. Also, they have been very kind towards him and helped him with bathing, etc.
Dad moved in with multiple safety issues. Staff have gone over and above duties. He is made to feel at home and comfortable all of the time as are we. I am so pleased with his care and I totally see how much they have to deal with. Truly amazing.
Simply the best! Everything is brilliant can't say strongly enough how good everything is. 100% everything. No negatives at all.
It's never easy to see someone you love and care about needing to enter into a care home, but I can honestly say to know that Mum is well cared for and safe means a lot. The staff are caring and friendly and go out of their way to be supportive not only of my mum but of the family as a whole. The manager's door is always open - need I say more...
This home looks after my mother well. She is comfortable, cared for, and above all, happy in her day-to-day life. I live three hours away and usually visit unannounced. My mother always is well-presented, and I have often witnessed (and sometimes participated in) enrichment or stimulation activities, which include all residents who wish to take part. As well as caring for my mother, the home also gives me peace of mind that my mother is safe and well while I am not present.
I am very happy living in Olive House, all the staff are kind and caring. I also enjoy the food, which is cooked fresh daily. I have a nice room and the staff look after me very well. I have no complaints at all.
Was with my dad today and again noticed the radiator in his room has still not been fixed. It has been over two months now it has not worked. Although he has an old heater, it is not that warm in his room. I was disappointed at what my dad was offered for his tea on 26th December - egg on toast is not very festive.
Needs a refresh of decoration in residents' rooms, its looking very tired and somewhat depressing. Trips need to be better thought out as to cancel at the last minute is very upsetting for the residents.
Struggling to find a Care Home that could provide urgent short notice respite care for my Dad I had called several local ones when I tried Olive House. The call was answered by a lady who from the start was so warm and welcoming, she understood the situation our family was in and went above and beyond to ensure there was a room ready for Dad for the very next day. Although initially due to stay for a week this was extended to 2 weeks as Dad was getting on so well. The level of care he received was first class and every member of staff I encountered was so friendly and clearly all very passionate about their jobs. Dad loved the food and the activities he was invited to participate in and although it took him a little while to get used to the everyday noise of a Care Home I know he thoroughly enjoyed his time there. A massive thank you to all at Olive House.
I am very happy with the care I receive.
The care I have had is so good; you can't describe it. Nothing is too much trouble.
Love everything here. Feel very safe in here.
