View Full Details of Sydney HouseOverall a very welcoming care home, the staff are very polite and caring. The management team at Sydney House are doing a fantastic job making sure that the resident's needs are met. Sydney House is a very clean care home and the cleaning staff do a fabulous job. A fascination in Sydney House is the wall decor which gives so much pleasure to residents as it does visitors, especially the dining room picture.
In my view, the care for my mother is 100%. It is so important to me and my sister that Mum is looked after and is safe and that is the case in Sydney House Care Home. The staff and management work so hard and really care for the residents.
I couldn't have wished for a better placement for Mum, she was able to treat it like her own home, and she was made to feel comfortable and when the family visited we were all made welcome by management and staff. Her room was perfect for her. She enjoyed the food and drink and the support she needed. Management was open and supportive at all times and kept me up to date with Mum's health and care. Thank you to all.
Our experience of using Sydney House has been exemplary, as a family we are spread across the country. The management and staff have been so supportive, caring, and professional. Our mum really struggled with the thought of going into a care home, it took her a long time to settle. She was supported through all of this by staff and management and support from her family. We would like to thank you all, we will never forget Mum's time with you. We would highly recommend Sydney House!
Sydney House is inviting and has a homely, family feel. When visiting, you don’t feel like you’re imposing or getting in the way. The staff are proactive in seeing the residents are stimulated and entertained. It’s a nice place to be.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Had no complaints about food and it is very clean.
Great home. All the staff are first class. I always tell people they will do anything for you. They are always first class, doing a great job at all times.
The staff and management could not have been more friendly or helpful. Mum was treated with understanding when she was upset and with real warmth at all times. Management has helped us through the maze of social care. The friendliness of the staff is reflected in a warm and welcoming atmosphere among the residents.
As an ex-social service's trained manager, then a private homeowner myself (now retired), I hope I am qualified to comment! The carers/support was excellent - the staff were attentive and treated residents with dignity. Management was supportive and compassionate. Rooms were good - always clean. Catering was of a high standard, varied and plentiful. Drinks were available at all times, and encouraged activities were imaginative and varied - outside when possible, with ice cream and cold melons offered to residents. The residents were safe and secure at all times - equipment was well used - correctly. Well done. Obviously, an ex-social services home, had the building leant itself to "ensuite" facilities, the home would have been excellent in all respects.
I can not recommend Sydney House enough! They looked after my mum so well and kept me informed regarding her stay. The kindness and compassion that the staff showed my mum and I was excellent! The staff are a true asset, always smiling, helpful, respectful, kind and singing... and a box of tissues always to hand. The staff really did go above and beyond for my mum; two staff members even came to her funeral. This just reassured me that my mum was missed, not just by me and that Sydney House really was her home with an extended family! She wasn't just another customer or resident. If anyone out there is reading this review, I can tell you I worked for the NHS for 25-years, and over my time, I had seen some really distressing homes! Sydney House is safe, caring and clean (my feet never stuck to the floor!), with staff who take pride in what they do and treat the residents as if they were their own loved ones. Thank you.
The staff have done their best over the last difficult year to allow visits, if and when allowed. They are always cheerful and are very kind and helpful with Mum. She is very happy that she can now get her hair done and hopefully, they will be able to arrange some entertainment shortly as this is something she really enjoys, having very poor eyesight and quite deaf, she needs some other attractions.
Almost 4-years ago, Mum was allowed to have a few days holiday at Sydney House, Mum didn't want to go home; I think she felt safe. Memory loss was getting worse, but at Sydney House, she changed almost immediately taking pride in herself again, eating regular meals, and most of all, mixing with the residents and staff. It's hard giving up control of a loved one, at Sydney House I was always told of any problems and mishaps. The staff, Mum liked them all, were patient, approachable and valued by us both, as was the local doctor. Sadly Mum passed away, it happened so quickly I wasn't with her, thankfully, the kind staff were by her side, which I will always be grateful for. The last year's of mum's life had been made very enjoyable by all at Sydney House.
All staff at Sydney House are extremely friendly, yet still, show very professional qualities. They are always prepared to listen to any concerns and act upon them, if necessary. We, as a family, are kept up to date with all matters regarding the home and our loved ones. We feel that Sydney House staff have become one of our family. The home is spotlessly clean, the residents are immaculately presented, and my mum tells me meals are delicious!
During Dads short stay at Sydney House, he was looked after with great care and respect. The staff were wonderfully kind and thoughtful, always making time to chat when we had a concern. During November lockdown, we lost our dear Dad. An amazing member of staff stepped in to help when we couldn't be there, going beyond her duties for the task she undertook, we will be forever grateful, thank you, and thank you Sydney House.
Sydney House restored our faith in care homes after my dad attended there for respite care. Poor Dad had negative experiences of the last 2 care homes he had attended. The management at Sydney House welcomed our feedback and communication and did everything possible to make Dad feel welcome. Dad had to overcome 3 initial concerns, one being he had to self isolate, he had no en-suite and his room was tiny. Dad is not good at accepting change but the staff used great listening skills and turned Dad's stay round to be thoroughly enjoyable. He ended up loving his room and comparing it to a 5-star hotel. He tried new foods and ended up loving it all. He made new friends and became a confident, independent person, who enjoyed thinking for himself, someone we had not experienced for a very long time. Thanks to everyone at Sydney House.
I cannot thank the manager or the staff at Sydney House enough for taking such good care of my dad during his stay with them. He had previously had a bad experience in a care home, and we were dreading his stay, but he loved it! The staff were so caring and helpful, and he loved the food. He likened it to a 5-star hotel, and although he was ready to come home after some respite, he was sad to leave. Nothing was too much trouble, and the manager was always happy to talk to us about any concerns we had. I would highly recommend Sydney House to anyone seeking care for a loved one. Thank you all so much for everything, my dad left a very different and better person, and that's due to the wonderful care he received.
My mother was in Sydney House for 5 months before she passed away. Everything seemed to meet the help and care she needed. We found the management and staff very friendly and obliging. We have no complaints.
Happy, friendly staff. Friendly atmosphere. Dad is happy and settled, and well looked after. Choice of meals. Sydney House is really home from home. The home is clean and no unpleasant smells.
My wife and I are truly pleased that my mum was a resident of Sydney House over the last few months. We honestly believe that she could not have been in more capable hands. The professionalism of all members of staff is only strengthened by their friendliness and willingness to help. All members of my mums family, her friends and our 2 Newfoundland dogs were always made to feel welcome and nothing ever seemed to be to much trouble there was always someone available for a chat whether it was asking for advice about her care or literally just for a natter We honestly believe we can never repay the debt of gratitude we owe to all members of management and staff at Sydney House
Mother in law recently placed at Sydney House. In that short time, I have witnessed positive things, for example, there is always staff present, the home is very clean and pleasant. Any queries have always been answered. Her room is very basic but always presentable. There appears to be lots of positive energy around.
