View Full Details of WoodlandsMy friend who is 97 year old became very ill with chest infection, paramedics were called, and when I received a phone call the paramedics wanted to take my friend to hospital, I refused their request and stated I wish for a doctor to be called. I could not wish for a better response from the home, as within a very short time this had happened, medication was administered through intravenous drip and oxygen to help him breathe set up 100% quicker than hospital. The staff and care he received were above and beyond.
Although my husband's experience and opinions are positive, I find communication (both between myself and management, and management and staff) frustratingly inadequate. I feel I have to chase up on everything. Messages don't get through. Also, hygiene (personal) is not great, showers a rarity and I find myself responsible for making sure my husband is presentable and more importantly, fragrant.
Thank you to the management and staff at Woodlands, saying 'Thank You' will never be enough for the care love, kindness and respect they showed our mother and us at the end of her life. We are forever in there debt. Thank you all.
Our Mum has been in the care of Woodlands for the last seven years. During this time the staff have been brilliant, always showing love and amazing care towards Mum. Over the years her health deteriorated and she totally lost her sight but we always knew she was safe and well looked after. This weekend Mum was given end-of-life care. All the staff were amazing, so caring and professional, not only looking after her, giving her dignity in her last hours but also giving my brother and I the love and support we needed. We can not thank you all enough- you were all amazing!
Overall the general service is quite good. Carers fulfil the requests of the user but there are some issues which after discussions are resolved. Staff are pleasant, smartly attired, willing to assist and give the user dignity and respect.
I find the Woodlands manager and staff very approachable. I have found due to my mother's dementia I have had difficulties at times but I have been able to talk to the Manager and Staff about my worries and plan what to do going forward to resolve the problem. My mother is very happy here and would I believe not wish to live anywhere else. I find my mother is respected and cared for by all at Woodlands. Prior to my mother moving to Woodlands she had been a very independent woman and I feel Woodlands staff make her still feel she had control over her decisions and life.
I am confident my mother is well cared for by the staff of Woodlands. They appear to actually care for my mother as a person and she is treated with respect, kindness, and dignity. Her room is clean and tidy and Mother herself is always washed and well-dressed despite being bedridden. Communication with myself is always good.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Woodlands for around 3 months having had a number of falls and mobility issues. We have been very impressed with the standard of care she is receiving. Management always have time to discuss any issues and her general well-being. Staff always attentive and professional and go out of their way to make her comfortable. Her room is always clean. If she needs anything or there are any concerns we know we will always get a call which is reassuring. Although my mother-in-law is mostly in bed the home has plenty of facilities and activities if she were more mobile and there always seems to be a good spirit amongst staff and residents.
My friend moved into Woodlands earlier this year and I have nothing but praise for the team of staff there. Before moving in, communication with home was excellent and the team went out of their way to ensure the move was made as easy as possible for my friend. She has settled into the home well and the care she receives is excellent - she has a deteriorating condition and the team seem to notice changes promptly and address them. When I visit the home, the staff are all friendly and approachable, and I really appreciate that they assist my friend to go out on the bus too!
My next of kin spent the last eight months at Woodlands. During that time, now on her third stay in hospital, she has suffered several serious health setbacks. Nevertheless, Woodlands management and staff went the extra mile trying to make her comfortable. I am grateful to them all for their cheerfulness and professionalism in handling, by her own admission, a difficult person. She is now making good progress as she moves to a home that can better meet her current needs. Thank you all at Woodlands. Keep up the good work!
My mother is a resident at Woodlands and all the staff from managers, team leaders, care assistants and domestics go out of their way, to make sure she is clean and always encourage her to eat and drink. They ring us up if they have any concerns with Mum. I feel the dementia unit treats everyone as part of the family.
My first contact with Woodlands was the day my wife was moved there. The management team were ultra helpful and the staff kind and cheerful and soon put us both at ease. The atmosphere is homely and cosy and the activities are varied and the catering is of a high standard. I visit my wife regularly and soon became a member of the family. I am totally content that my wife will be treated with both care and dignity and would recommend Woodlands to anybody.
Woodlands has been my husband's home for the past 2 and a half years, he has had the best care I could wish for him.
Would just like to say a big thank you to the staff at Woodlands, what a brilliant service. They were all so lovely to my mum, her care was outstanding as was mine when mum was at the end of her life and I was staying with her in her room. When they found out I was diabetic they kept offering me sandwiches and coffee. Absolutely first class!
I have been at Woodlands for the last four weeks. I have found the service I have received from the carers, catering and management excellent. All the staff have been friendly and helpful. The only one issues I have is the lack of staff between the hours of 1 am and 4 am. I appreciate they have to have their breaks, but feel those of us who have to be hoisted should not have to wait for staff to finish breaks before we have help. I recommend you need four members of staff at night. After all, it is supposed to be a 24-hour service we are paying for.
At Woodlands my dear mother has been so cared for, all the management and carers take time to look after her and always keep our family informed of concerns that need to be discussed. Through the two years, my mother has lived at Woodlands, we knew she was safe, warm and well-fed.
The care and the staff are brilliant. Our mother enjoyed it so much. It was like a home from home because she had freedom. She kept the staff on their toes. We have always been made to feel very welcome when visiting. We felt like part of the family at Woodlands.
My family have been so pleased with the overall care Woodlands have given to our mum over the last 2+ years. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff; keeps us informed if Mum needs anything, medical, etc. I would recommend this care home. Staff are amazing, so caring, professional, happy, always a smile. They keep my mum so beautifully dressed, clean, hair always lovely, as my mum has always kept herself over the years herself. Perfect home from home - 10/10.
My mother has been a resident since July 2020, when a sudden deterioration in her health necessitated the need for long term care. We didn’t choose Woodlands, it was the only place available at the time, and was initially temporary. But she wanted to stay, and as a lady who has always said she would never go into residential care, this really says a lot! Visiting during the pandemic has been carefully managed, with excellent results. The building is in places tired but this doesn’t matter as the overall feeling is one of a warm, happy, clean, caring environment that is actually a “home”. Medical needs are dealt with very effectively and quickly, the food is good and Mum seems to have a good relationship with her carers. They ring me if there are any problems, and don’t mind me ringing them with any concerns. This was a life-changing move for all of us to deal with, and we have had a few teething problems, but overall we are confident our mum is well cared for at Woodlands.
I find Woodlands to be a very caring facility. The staff are kind and considerate. I am very happy that my wife is a resident there, and apart from the Covid lockdown, I am allowed to visit her regularly in her room.
