View Full Details of The Briars Residential Care HomeAlthough Mum has only been a resident since March, all experiences are positive. Relatives are made to feel welcome, Mum is well cared for and we are allowed to take her dog to see her. We can also talk to her via the residents' mobile phone. In all, this has been a positive experience and although it is not easy when a loved one goes into care, the transition has been made easier by all of the caring staff.
Brilliant staff with high standards of care. Made to feel welcome when I visited my father from New Zealand and had arranged a time for my visits. Dad is comfortable and well looked after, always.
Mum has been at The Briars Residential Care Home for a few years now and she continues to keep well with the level of care she receives and benefits from the fact that The Briars is quite small and she knows the staff well. We also know Mum is looked after 24 hours a day which gives us peace of mind.
The staff keep me up to date with changes of care, medical issues and any other problems or positive things with the care of my mum. Staff are always friendly and I feel they really do care for my mum. She is always clean and dressed nicely and the way they speak to her and about her is lovely and extremely caring. They always take time to talk to me as well about Mum, which I really appreciate. Always reply to emails quickly too. Thank you.
The staff work really hard and are so caring. It's lovely to see them with Dad and I know Dad feels safe and cared for at The Briars. When returning Dad to the home he is always happy to go which says a lot. I'm always really pleased to see when Dad has joined in with some of the activities for example the plant-based activities.
My mother has resided at The Briars Residential Care Home for approximately nine months. She has a very nice room with access to the courtyard/garden. The staff are always friendly, helpful and patient and try to include/persuade her to take part in any activities (sometimes difficult due to her dementia). The management team keep regular contact with us and updates us with any concerns. The family now has peace of mind knowing she is safe and cared for 24/7.
My husband has been in The Briars Residential Care Home for two years now. His care has been second to none. The staff are amazing and in my view go above and beyond. His dementia has progressed in the two years but he now thinks of it as his home and is very contented and comfortable. I could not wish for anything better for him in the circumstances. Extremely satisfied and would highly recommend.
I had a really good visit seeing my nan, with my wife and son. She looked well and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and professional and we were made to feel very welcome, can't wait to see her again.
My wife has been a resident for four and a half months or so and her care has been excellent. Initial problems were dealt with efficiently and solved. All staff are very caring, helpful, cheerful and friendly. Activities are varied and no doubt beneficial to residents. Communication between management/carers with me has been very good. I have nothing but praise for The Briars Residential Care Home and would confidently recommend them.
Alongside his Alzheimer's, my father has OCD. The management has taken the time to understand and deal with his OCD behaviour in a sympathetic and patient way. He clearly feels in control and far calmer since coming to the home, all staff seem aware of his ways and how to deal with his need for routine and security. His anxiety levels are far lower than they used to be.
The Briars Residential Care Home is an incredibly caring, supporting and inclusive care home. When my father had a couple of falls, the team were so helpful in arranging short term care to see how he adjusted - which was seven months ago! There is a wonderful variety to keep the residents entertained and from a health perspective, my father has had his medication changed to help with mini transient ischaemic attacks which he was having - this was not picked up by his local doctor before he moved to the Briars! I couldn't recommend them highly enough - just fantastic! Keep up the great work team - you're all amazing!
I feel very fortunate that my stepfather has a place at The Briars. He is very happy and relaxed, looks really well and seems to have a great relationship with the carers. I have been kept well informed of any events such as hospital visits and personal requirements, and all areas regarding Covid procedures etc.
The staff are always very helpful, at this very trying time for all of us, with the pandemic going on, we are now able to see mum. The staff always try to accommodate any requests that we may ask for mum.
A small (17 residents) but delightful care home with excellent staff, good food and a caring atmosphere. I recommend it thoroughly.
My mother has been here for 2 years she is extremely well looked after and seems very happy, the staff are very helpful and caring.
My mother has been a resident at The Briars for over 6 years. I am incredibly grateful to the staff for their excellent care and compassion for her. An excellent well managed and run care home. I would unreservedly recommend.
Firstly as a family, we would like to say a big thank you to all the staff for all your hard work and support to our loved ones during these troubled times. Let's hope soon things will get back to some sort of normal, whatever that will be for all of us in the future.
The Briars looks after the residents very well. They run several activities which the residents can join if they wish to. The food is excellent and the care is always thoughtful and appropriate to each resident's needs. The Christmas Day lunch was a great success and enjoyed by residents and staff alike. There is always a happy atmosphere in the home.
My 87-year-old mother became a resident here in May 2019 as her mobility decreased to such an extent that she required assistance with every task. I was thrilled when she was offered a place in The Briars as it meant that she was in the same village as me. She was initially very subdued and depressed about her situation but because of the wonderful support and reassurance she received from everyone, she is now greatly improved. The residents are extremely well cared for and always look happy and content. The carers are kind and patient and always respond quickly to the call-bell. With only 17 residents, a warm and homely atmosphere exists. The home cooked food is delicious and plentiful. As well as the communal lounge a quiet room is available for those who wish to read, etc. The standards here are extremely high and I am very happy knowing that my dear mum is safe and well cared for. Excellent!
Mum had a major stroke 11 years ago. Following rehabilitation, she returned home and lived independently. Over time her mobility deteriorated but she wouldn't discuss a care home. A broken femur in January made the decision for us, and after inspection, we chose The Briars. From day 1 at the end of February Mum has been made to feel at home, she is happy, well fed and very, very content. The level of care is excellent.
