View Full Details of Maynell HouseThe carers are very helpful and kind and I have no trouble with any of them. Sometimes very noisy with residents but we get used to it in time and I have no complaints.
We visited my aunt at the new year and we were delighted with the home the staff and the great atmosphere in the home. Everyone made us very welcome and supplied us with endless tea and cakes! My aunt loves living there, she is very happy and says she feels safe and enjoys her time there joining in activities when she feels up to it. She says the staff are all kind and she doesn't want to leave!
Mum always seems very happy with the care she receives. Her room is always clean and tidy. Staff are very friendly and know Mum well so can attend to her needs. The entertainment and craft program is extremely good. When the care home had the use of a minibus mum really liked the outings they went on and it is a shame they no longer have use of the bus. Overall we feel the care, security and affection shown by the staff offers Mum a home that she can do her best in even with deteriorating health.
Very comfortable, lovely room, carers very homely, food choice ample, room cleaned well. Enjoy crafts, games, carpet bowls, and mini-bus outings. Crafts are thought out well.
We are very pleased with the care given and the home overall. My aunt loves living here and often comments on the wonderful food and activities which take place in the home regularly. They have visitors who entertain all of the people living in the home.
Whenever I visit, the carers are always welcoming. They update me on how my mother has been. Beautiful decorations for Christmas.
An exceptional car home. My mother was very poorly after receiving substandard care at home, so we moved her into Maynell House. Now she's thriving thanks to the heaps of care and attention she receives and the excellent food. The daily activities have also helped give her a new lease of life. Thank you!
The staff here are very friendly and caring and very approachable. They listen and try to resolve any issues raised. The home is clean and inside it is lovely with old-fashioned decor that my mum loves. There is a wide range of activities on offer so if my mum wants to she can be busy for most of the day. I feel this is extremely important for elderly people with dementia.
My mum is very happy at Maynell; secure, warm, comfortable, fed, watered well. I/we have one issue and that is items of clothing keep going missing, despite all of her clothing being permanently labelled. Conversely, items of clothing keep being delivered to her room which are not hers. All in all, she very much likes the home.
Moved mum from Maynell after a year. Okay, when self-caring. After six months became unwell and spent a period in bed, wasn’t regularly cared for, tablets left on the side for her to take! Crockery was left from one meal to the next, not nice especially when fish dish. Her skin was not creamed regularly which mum used to do herself every day, be back later was their saying. On several occasions, she told me she hadn't had a drink. An ambulance was called in the night for mum, but no senior was in charge. Phoned the manager but didn’t attend. Mum spent two weeks in hospital and recovered. After mum got back things went downhill, mum could not do anything for herself. We as a family used to help mum wash, toilet etc when we visited. Mum couldn’t reposition herself in bed so was very uncomfortable. The manager's door was always open, the day mum left tightly shut. Also a snide remark from a carer. Mum is very happy and her health has improved in her new home.
We have had to move my mum to another home because she wasn’t getting the care she needed. She had been in there a year, but when she went in she was mobile. The staff didn’t need to do much caring for Mum, she doesn’t have dementia so was able to do everything for herself. In July she became ill and had to go into hospital for 2 weeks. When she came out they didn’t even check her bell was working. Luckily I went in that evening (they didn’t even let me know she was back). She needed help to go to the toilet and had been ringing her bell to go to for 2 hours Then had an issue with mum not getting a wash for 3 weeks. My mum is a very clean person and because she couldn’t do it herself was getting frustrated. Staff told me she had refused which I knew wasn’t true. Then mum was prescribed cream for a bed sore and it wasn’t being put on. They told me it was being applied twice a day. I knew this was a lie as the tube was still in an unopened box. Glad to say my mum is a changed and happy person since moving.
Maynell House has been and still is excellent, caring, thoughtful and accommodating to all Mum's needs, even when very distressed. They are attentive and patient. Always keep us informed of any changes and very open. Couldn't ask for more professionalism.
As dar as I can tell, everything is satisfactory. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Moved my mum to this home to be closer to us. They promised to look after her. First visit we wanted to know why she was still in bed. They said she did not want to get up, she told me she did. They never got her out of bed for the next 4 weeks. They used this not to get her up. When I asked why she was sleeping all day the carer I spoke to started to shout at me saying I was rude I asked a simple question. She then said my mum was being lazy and not feeding herself. I told her she had dementia she said she had not. I decided at this point I did not like the treatment she was getting and moved my mum back to the first care home she was at. She is now getting up every day and feeling a lot better.
Staff have been friendly and helpful.
We moved my mother-in-law to Maynell House in October. Unfortunately, she passed away at the beginning of January 2023. Although she was only there for a short time, it was the best move we could have made as she was looked after so well from day one. She was kept clean and safe, stimulated with various activities and entertainment, and even had days out in the home minibus. All staff and management were caring and professional at all times. It is a great consolation to know she spent her last few months in such a lovely place.
This care home is what it says - a home where good care is given. I have found everything absolutely superb. My friend has not participated in any activities so far but from the choices I have seen offered, I wouldn't mind being there myself! Thank you to all the staff and management.
Maynell House has been, and remains, the best place for Mum's care. The staff are to be praised for the day-to-day work, their empathy for Mum and me, their attention to Mum's needs, her comfort and her overall care. During COVID, everyone did their utmost to keep communication open, keep us up to date with Mum's health and emotional needs. They were firm but fair about COVID restrictions and to adjust to 'normal'.
My aunt is beru happy at Maynell House. The best thing, she says, is the people. She says they can't do enough for her. She enjoys trips out and the garden. The staff have been patient and thoughtful. Thank you!
A privilege to see genuine care in action. Every single member of the team has been kind, caring, cheerful, helpful, informative, responsive and respectful. I cannot thank or praise them enough. Outstanding care that gives us hope for the future. Well done to all the team, we are so pleased to have found you!
