View Full Details of Mellish House Residential HomeAlways a friendly welcome from staff. My mum is usually in the lounge during visits. Mum is clean, clothing clean, Mum always sitting well. Mum given a choice of meals which were colourful and looked appetising. Staff always spoke to my mum in a dignified friendly way. As a carer, myself (my career) I always felt total confidence in the staff and management. Thank you Mellish House.
My mother was a resident in the Dementia care unit at Mellish House for almost two years. I would like to say thank you and praise all the staff who cared so compassionately for her and myself when I visited, you really are an amazing group of people led by the lovely manager. Thank you for making the most difficult couple of years bearable.
My mum has been a resident at Mellish House for 18 months. During this time my mum was happy and settled, we watched her become one of the Mellish family with every staff member making her feel special and all our family members welcome at any time. Mum was shown care and kindness at the highest level and staff went above and beyond their duties. As a family, we felt relaxed and comfortable when there but more importantly knew mum was well looked after when we were not. This gave us the time for our own lives which made seeing Mum and joyful time. Staff kept us informed of any changes and acted quickly when it was necessary. Mum always said she did not want to go into a home and we struggled with the decision but from day one we knew Mellish was the safest place for her and it soon became her home. When Mum died, the staff cared for Mum and us, something I will never forget. Mellish House is a special place with very special people in it, I will be forever thankful.
My mother-in-law moved into Mellish House in July 2024 from Spain, her transition was very good. In November, myself and her son attended a dementia awareness course, it was fantastic. So informative and the lady was so knowledgable.
From the moment of my first visit to see my brother, I was treated with courtesy and efficiency by all staff. My brother, during his first week here, has been looked after to the highest standards. His room is very tidy, his clothes were soon taken and marked for laundry purposes together with his personal possessions. The food is first-class and very healthy and nutritious. I cannot express my appreciation more highly than I have. What fantastic staff you have.
Outstanding team with many long-term members and superb care management people. My Dad, who had mixed dementia stayed at Mellish for respite care in 2023 and moved there permanently when we could no longer cope at home. Despite being largely blind and deaf, he was happy there thanks to the attentive care of the staff who made sure he was clean, comfortable, warm and well-fed, and that he had some company every day. Whenever I had concerns, the team addressed them promptly and completely, giving me complete confidence in their care.
Very good care. Well looked after. Food lovely.
The care at Mellish House has been second to none in every aspect. It is a great relief to us (the family) that my husband is so well looked after. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much bother. They are all very well trained and are all approachable and friendly. Theirs is not an easy job. I thank you all for giving us peace of mind.
Caring for people with dementia requires so much patience and mental resilience. The Mellish House staff demonstrated this in abundance the whole eight years that our dad was in their care. They are always kind and humourous, which was one of my dad's qualities. I'm sure in different circumstances he would have been shaking the hand of every carer and thanking them for their care.
The staff here are an absolute godsend, they are all very caring with their patients and also with families. My mum loved the girls here. Very happy my mum was here.
I have now visited my brother four times since his admission eight weeks ago. I have found visiting very emotional but I am so impressed by the care he is given. Feel the staff are dedicated to their job and so gratifying knowing the length of time they have been employed at the home.
Thank you all at Mellish House for all the care that you gave my husband. The carers were so caring for when he was with you for about three-ish years and also thank you to their team leader and training supervisor for all that you did in being there for me and our family and thank you to the deputy home manager (and another member of staff) who used to make my husband laugh. You really are all so wonderful.
My father has been at Mellish House since 2019 and sadly he passed away last week. I would like to thank all the staff not just for the care they gave Dad but how they showed respect and dignity all through the time he was there which I know was not easy. Throughout his time there we were always kept up to date with his ever-changing needs and the many phone calls we received just to keep us informed of any changes. Not only did the staff care for Dad, but they also supported us if we ever felt down they would always make time to talk to us as well. I can't speak highly enough of all the staff and would like to thank them especially how they handled his passing with dignity compassion and care right until the end. Thank you.
My mother has been at Mellish House since last summer and we have so much to thank Mellish House for. They organised my mother's transfer from hospital and have taken great care in assessing her so that she is getting the correct medication and help. The carers looking after her are very kind and confident and many have been working at Mellish for some time. Every detail about my mother's progress is recorded and every effort is made to make my mother feel wanted. I would have no hesitation to suggest Mellish House.
We have found, since my father joined Mellish House Residential Home, that his needs have been met very much to the family's satisfaction and have been impressed by the care shown towards him. We understand that most dementia sufferers of his kind can be especially challenging. Well done!
Since May 2023 we feel as if we have found a safe and caring home from home for Dad. Obviously living away from the home that he made with his wife and family is not ideal but the staff at Mellish House really understand his particular set of needs. In the last few months Dad has been ill with Shingles, the care given to him has minimised his discomfort and allowed a quick recovery. The family has been able to create a good relationship with the staff and we feel that we are listened to and understood. Our overall experience at Mellish so far has been excellent.
My friend had been a resident at Mellish House Residential Home for three years. During this time, the care she received from the dedicated staff was exemplary. She unfortunately died a few days ago and her death was dignified, graceful and peaceful. I cannot praise the staff enough. Dementia care at its very best.
I have a good experience with staff and management. I have all the support from staff from Mellish House Residential Home and I am happy with the way my husband spends time in Mellish House and with all the care that staff provide for him.
My wife started at Mellish House with daycare up until March 2020. She came back to Mellish House for full-time care in August 2021. Her illness was slowly getting worse. The care she was given was brilliant and could not be faulted. The staff were all excellent until the day she passed away (6th of May 2023). I would like to say a very special thank you to the management and staff at Mellish House for all they did.
This is an exceptionally well-run care home. The staff, from senior management to cleaners, porters and maintenance personnel are amazing. Kind, caring and compassionate, nothing seems too much trouble. It was not always plain sailing, but any issues resolved calmly. The residents are well-loved by staff and residents are put at ease.
