I would to thank all the staff at Norwood in Ipswich for their care and attention to my wife. All the staff are pleasant and efficient and do their utmost to make life interesting and comfortable for the residents. The home is well-run and clean and the menus are varied, nutritious and suitable. I have no worries or concerns when leaving after a visit that she will be well looked after and happy. Many thanks for all your dedication.
I am writing to say thank you for the care you have given to my sister. I have only been able to visit her once a year, as I live in Shrewsbury, but each time I have visited, she has said how grateful she has been for her opportunity to live in a Methodist Home. My daughter has been equally impressed by the consideration you have given to my sister and how it has been the little things that have helped her to live as active a life as possible with her eyesight problems as she reached the end of her life on earth. I know that she could be a rather 'fussy' person with strong views but despite that, I know that she was appreciative of your care and I want to add my thanks to all of the staff who had contact with her.
Very compassionate care for my Mum at the end of her life. Throughout Mum's stay at Norwood, she had always been treated extremely well and she never complained about anything, which we were very pleasantly surprised at! Well done Norwood, you should be very proud.
My wife has suffered from Alzheimer's for many years and is now a resident at Norwood. She is quite contented living there and is well looked after. Whenever I visit there are always staff around to help if needed and my wife is always kept clean. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. There are entertainments and activities throughout the week.
My brother moved to Norwood in March 2022. He has received very good care and is very happy with all of the staff members who are very patient and kind. He needs some additional care and this is provided with no problems at all. He likes to sit and watch TV all day, which to be honest is all he did at home, so he is happy that he can continue to do that. I would prefer that he walked more and joined in the various activities of which there are many, suited to all interests, but he has never been very sociable and persuading him to do something he doesn't want to do has always been an uphill battle.
My father-in-law has settled in well and is very happy. He says the food is very good and he enjoys a glass of beer with his lunch! The staff are all excellent and very approachable. Communication is also excellent.
Norwood is an excellent care home. From the initial visit, the welcome Dad received when he moved into the Norwood and the kindness and respect shown to him by ALL the staff regardless of their role was exceptional. It was always a relief to know he was being so well looked after. I will forever be grateful for not only the care given to Dad but for the support I received during his end-of-life care. You are a team of lovely caring people. Thank you.
My husband is being very well cared for by the carers who are all friendly, helpful and competent. The food is excellent and there are activities most days for the residents to enjoy if they wish to. When my husband requested a doctor's visit, this was arranged for the following week. As his wife, I can visit at any time of day and am always welcomed by the care staff.
My mother moved to Norwood in January 2021 during Covid lockdown. From the moment we were met by staff at the door when we dropped her off there, to her death in March 2024 we have nothing but praise for this care home. I am a retired GP with experience working with staff at care homes and I was very impressed by the caring ethos of Norwood managers and staff. Mum was treated with dignity and respect, and her dementia was managed with calm reassurance and loving cajolment at times of anxiety. We were informed of any falls and injuries and these were always managed appropriately with ambulance and GP involvement as required. During her eventual decline over a 3 week period the care she received was exemplary. Well done to all staff at Norwood!
My mother came to Norwood Ipswich at the beginning of June 2024 for a trial period. She is wheelchair-bound and aged 90. We the family have appreciated all the staff, their caring attitude and great patience. The quality of the food is excellent and having a communal dining room is so nice after Mother has spent years dining alone. There is a full and varied program of activities available which our mother does make use of. My sister is a professional caterer at another care home and has also been very impressed.
Norwood is a fabulous Care Home and I would thoroughly recommend it. From our very first visit we were extremely impressed with all members of staff - from the home manager right through to all the carers, activity leader, laundry staff etc. They were professional, friendly and helpful. Sadly my mother was only in the home for a short while, but we are so grateful that her final days were happy and she was so well supported. Thank you to each and every one of you.
We needed to find respite care for my very elderly and vulnerable grandmother. As we walked in for our visit we immediately felt the calm and restful atmosphere - it felt cosy and comfortable. The carer showing us around knew all the residents and could tell us why they weren't in their rooms because she knows the residents and spends time with them. We got a real sense that the staff knew the residents and cared about them. This held good for the entire stay. My nan is comfortable, safe and extremely well cared for. They respect her privacy and independence where possible. There are daily activities for her to take part in if she wishes - mostly music focused which she loves. It is difficult to trust 'strangers' with the care of a much loved family member but I am extremely happy with the choice to use Norwood. When we cannot be there we feel confident that my nan is very safe. I cannot recommend Norwood, the leadership team and the staff highly enough.
Mum has been living at Norwood for over 3 years now and continues to be treated with the utmost respect, care and kindness from all of the friendly team of staff. I highly recommend Norwood because every person working there, whether it is for laundry, catering, management, admin, nursing, caring, activities, cleaning, maintenance etc. all create a welcoming relaxed atmosphere for Mum and all her visitors. Their care helps Mum feel safe and to 'live well' with dementia. The support given to me is much appreciated too. The staff keep family informed of any issues and demonstrate professionalism, positivity and patience. Mum particularly enjoys the numerous activities, especially music in the beautiful lounge area. The family can relax knowing Mum is well looked after. Thank you.
My mother has just become a resident of Norwood, having broken her arm at the age of 96 and suffering with Alzheimer's she couldn't manage at home by herself any more. Whilst offering a degree of reluctance about going into a care home she is settling in. The staff are fantastic, caring and very cheerful even though she provides them with challenges I am sure they could do without. Even Mum acknowledges the service they provide, the facilities and the gardens are second to none. The choice of meals and the activities available for her to participate in are great. Norwood definitely helps reduce the stress of looking after elderly parents with their knowledge, experience and care facilities, I'm really glad they had a space available when it was needed.
Norwood was an extremely friendly welcoming home. Every member of staff we met, were they management, carer, laundry assistant, or maintenance, always smiled, spoke to us and did anything they could to help. We felt very reassured and welcomed by everyone.
My mother became a resident at Norwood in January 2024. She was instantly made very welcome and in the interim, the staff have taken the time to understand both her physical and emotional needs. The home provides numerous activities, and this, combined with the community dining and lounge areas, has provided new opportunities for my mother to mix and have something of a social life. The staff have a very positive and cheerful approach to the unique problems encountered by their residents and treat each issue with individual care and patience. Her accommodation is kept very clean and Mum loves being in her room. She sleeps well at night knowing that if she does need help it is almost instantly available. Visiting is available 24/7 and that the family can join her for meals is doubly reassuring. The home management are excellent in both supporting residents and relatives, providing regular updates and support. Both my mother, and the family are very happy that they chose Norwood.
My mother has been a resident at Norwood since last May 2023 - I have found the care and support to be consistent and excellent. All staff have a cheery and caring attitude, they are always helpful and willing. When Ma first arrived she refused to do anything including leave her room apart from meals - the staff were patient and knowledgeable on how to behave towards new residents and my mother is now comfortable with the routine of the home and often attends the home's excellent and varied activities. Ma's room is kept in a clean and orderly manner and help is always at hand if she needs assistance with going to the loo, turning on the TV or getting out of her chair. I am very happy my mother has found residence at Norwood.
My mum is well looked after she enjoys activities that the staff encourage her to join in. The activities are varied such as exercises that each resident is encouraged to do and piano sessions my mum enjoys anything related to cooking and I enjoy getting photos of her mixing ingredients. She is very creative and likes to colour and do crafts. The staff are thoughtful and kind and look after Mum's personal care. She has her nails painted and her hair cut. I am very happy to recommend Norwood the menus are excellent and Mum is very happy with her room overlooking the park. If I had something to discuss staff are approachable and always kind and thoughtful.
Mum (88) moved into Norwood in March 2023. She has dementia, multiple health conditions and was no longer safe at home. We are very pleased with how Mum has settled and the kind care she receives. Importantly, Norwood has a relaxed and caring atmosphere; lots of space to wander and some lovely quiet areas: a conservatory, family room, lounges and the garden overlooking Christchurch Park. Great for mum, as she is very sensitive to and disturbed by noise. Mum was a keen churchgoer, in her younger years. The optional, church services, held in the main lounge seem to be perfect for Mum. Activities are held twice daily, 7 days/week, by staff and volunteers. It keeps Mum occupied and dementia-related, negative thoughts at bay. Mum cannot concentrate for very long. She does take part in the simpler activities and those she can observe eg piano playing and singalongs. All in all, a lovely care home, with a Christian ethos and the feel-good factor.
My father has now been a resident for 5 months. The level of care has been very good despite his health problems. The level of communication is also very good and we have been kept informed of any relevant issues or changes by the staff. They have an excellent range of activities and there is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere in the home.
