View Full Details of Oaklands HouseOaklands House is a lovely care home. With 29 residents it is large enough to offer the highest levels of safety and care, yet small and intimate enough to feel like a home away from home. All the staff and the carers are amazing, and my mum constantly praises them when I visit. On weekday mornings and afternoons, there are activities such as seated exercise, crafts, quizzes, entertainment and cooking. She joins in with most of these sessions and has adjusted to life at Oaklands extremely well.
Oaklands has always treated Mum as part of a big family. I never worry about her care. They are amazing and constantly keep me informed of any problems. I visit regularly and I'm made to feel very welcome and part of the family at Oaklands. If you are looking for a residential home for a loved one you can't go wrong. There has been a lot of work done recently to make the garden accessible and enjoyable for all. Including vegetable patches that the residents get involved in. There are activities every day for them to also enjoy. The meals are served with choices for all residents and are delivered by silver service. There are opportunities for family to have a meal with their loved ones. The chefs are great cooks. Well worth a visit.
My father is very happy with the level of care he is receiving. The team of workers are all very friendly and keen to assist when needed. His day is filled with family visits and a team of caring nurses for his leg dressings. The carers are popping in to check on him 24/7.
Mum has been at Oaklands House for 1 year now. She feels safe and well looked after and has a good relationship with the other residents and the staff. Oaklands is run effectively under the manager's leadership and there is a happy and welcoming atmosphere with a good range of activities and initiatives. The staff are kind, caring and proactive. In October the residents, having made biscuits and decorations, enjoyed a Halloween party with all the staff dressed up in full costume. The recently constructed scenic viewpoint group has just been opened by the Mayor with residents enjoying tea and cake in the garden which they shared with friends and relatives. We are very pleased to have chosen Oaklands for Mum, she is very content and comfortable there.
My brother and I were so grateful that Oaklands House were able to take our father into respite care with no notice being given after the ambulance service attended him at his house after a fall. His being offered a room after respite as a resident by the manager and his team, ensured that his rapid decline in mobility and health was made as painless and comfortable as it could be. It was his wish to remain in his house for as long as possible, so sadly by the time of his admission, his mobility was so impaired that although the nursing staff offered to take him downstairs in the lift, he was happy to remain in his room. Had he been admitted earlier he could have taken advantage of the many communal facilities on offer and made friends with other residents, many of whom he knew. His every need was catered for, and he appreciated the lovely food that was on offer freshly prepared and cooked on site, and loved the attention of the staff who were so caring and friendly.
I came to Oaklands House for two weeks of respite care following a serious RTA and a period in hospital. It was the best thing that could have happened to aid my recovery from the accident. I received excellent care in Oaklands from all the staff who were extremely sympathetic to my situation. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent. No wonder the fulltime, long-term residents were so content. Recommended without reservation.
My partner has been in Oaklands for nearly a year now. We are both happy with the care he receives. The staff are very committed to offering a good, friendly and kind service to its users. They are also very kind to me too. The atmosphere is one of a family setting, relaxed and comfortable. The food is excellent and quite adventurous. Fresh, well-cooked, healthy food. The rooms are spacious and homely and you can take in your own things. They have a specialist activity person; different things each day. Also outings to local attractions. There are visits from singers, entertainers and even animals. Alpacas visited recently. Most importantly, the staff and management are really good, approachable, helpful and good carers for everyone.
All the staff encountered have been extremely pleasant and helpful. The change in my friend since coming to Oaklands is remarkable. I have every confidence his future care will be excellent, and he will continue to thrive.
I have found the staff to be very caring and patient. The food is excellent and the chefs always accommodate a difficult eater. My mother is always dressed and clean. We always receive a warm welcome when we visit.
My aunt has been a resident of Oaklands House for the past four years and is very happy there. Now she's reached her mid-90s she often prefers to watch TV in her room. The staff are all wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. They're more than happy to attend to her needs, even if it means several trips up a staircase to attend her. There's always something for my aunt to look forward to, be it a trip to the theatre or a local coffee morning. Oaklands House is definitely a home from home and our family cannot praise their staff enough.
Mum is very happy here, staff are wonderful. A very happy care home, very well managed. Would certainly recommend it, is very friendly and feels like a 5-star hotel, not a care home, with all the help you need.
My mother's short-term stay at Oaklands House Care Home was a great success. She was very happy in her room and with the attentive staff. She enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere that the manager and staff create. She never had any complaints and the food was a highlight.
We had a wonderful experience at Oaklands House, the manager and his team showed care and compassion for our mother. My mum thoroughly enjoyed the activities and especially the meals. The activity director does an amazing job and is very kind. staff find out what the residents enjoy and will try to fulfil their needs. We chose Oaklands because we wanted our mum to have a personal homelike experience. All of my mum's care needs were met and we felt that she received genuine love and support that she needed. The manager was an angel to my mum and extremely understanding and kind to us. If we had to do this again I would not hesitate to choose Oaklands.
My father stayed for week to give us some respite care. He felt safe and well looked after. He said the food was good, the staff were friendly and kind and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. He felt confident with the way they handled his medicine. We were happy to see dad looking relaxed and well. The staff were approachable and kind.
I found everybody helpful, the staff were very kind, the food was very good. I had a very pleasant room and I felt very comfortable and safe. I made a friend of another female resident who became my companion.
During the last 30 years, my wife and I have visited Oaklands on many occasions to visit friend who have received care with dignity and compassion. Due to out physical disabilities, we are now residents, and the same principles of care still apply.
Good care and very nice people who want to try and help as much as they can. Good food and some amusing residents. A very good and creative activities lady who gives some very good presentations; I especially liked the one, in particular.
My aunt recently moved into Okalands and has settled in well. She is happy and well looked after. Her main worry was whether she would get frequent showers - being doubly incontinent with ulcerative colitis, and her personal hygiene is very important. Staff in the home have recognised the importance of this and worked hard to find a system of showers every other day that is feasible and suits her needs. This is excellent, and my aunt is very pleased.
Impressed with the warm reception given by the staff and their commitment into making Mum's care so kind and friendly. Mum's room was warm and comfortable. The staff helpfully brought in an extra chair for us to sit alongside Mum
My mother was a resident for the last ten days of her life, and the care given to her was kind, compassionate and respectful. I was always welcomed in as a visitor and treated with consideration. Thank you.
