View Full Details of Shaftesbury House Residential Care HomeThe home is very helpful, all the staff are friendly. Mum seems happy to be in the home and enjoys the company.
It is a lovely home. My dad moved into Shaftesbury House Residential Care Home over 18 months ago. In the last year his health and well being has improved, he is very happy. Every member of staff go above and beyond to make sure all the residents are happy and well cared for. The home is always very clean and the food is excellent and always a choice is available. The staff know my dad well and know how to make him feel better on his bad days. We couldn't wish for a better home and can't thank them enough for their care and support.
Upon arrival used buzzer member of staff let me in. Residence was warm tidy, no obstacles blocking walkways/doors. Residents that wanted to be were in the lounge/dining area. It was quiet until music was put on then some resident's joined in singing. The general atmosphere was congenial, all the time I was visiting the staff were friendly and approachable. Genuine concern was shown to one resident regarding a health problem which was dealt with promptly. This was one of many visits l have had to Shaftesbury House. Never have l had cause to complain, my dad is looked after, cared for and fed well. Medical issues are dealt with quickly whether it be in house or via local GP.
My sister moved into Shaftesbury House early part of the year, and her care had been amazing. The staff are all very friendly and caring, the food is always lovely, so my sister says, lol, and the main thing is she is very happy there. They are always doing different things everyday, it's great to see her so settled.
Each time I visit my mum, she now has a sunny smile on her face. She smells as fresh as a daisy and always looks clean. Mum has a good appetite now as she enjoys the food, especially "fish and chips" on Friday! The staff are so caring. Mum's glasses were damaged and hurting her ears, and staff were quick to make an appointment with the opticians for a new pair of spectacles. Since Mum arrived in April at Shaftesbury House, she has improved enormously in health and well-being.
My mum has only recently moved into Shaftesbury House. Right from the start everyone was very helpful, compassionate and understanding of her needs. Her room is lovely and clean with an on suite. The manager, staff and carers are all so lovely. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone helps Mum to interact with the many activities offered. We chose this care home on good feedback from other family members. Also, it is not too big and definitely feels more homely. Fantastic choice of food too.
My husband has been in the home for some time, and his needs have changed dramatically in the last six months. I cannot fault the home and all its staff who go above and beyond in looking after him and also myself. Nothing is ever too much trouble in his care, and I am so grateful for all they do for him. It really is a home-from-home.
Staff are friendly and look after Mum's needs. Food very good and they have activities (quiz, bingo, crafts, etc.) quite regularly. Also organise entertainment from time to time and outings to Christmas panto. Relatives welcome anytime and to participate in events. Rooms cleaned and laundry done often. Only negative is sometimes on a weekend not as many staff as during week it seems. Residents can go out with family if they are able to.
We visited my mother on our second visit on 15th April. My mum is a really changed person. After the first visit, I was so impressed; I emailed the family to say how my mum was more communicative, even to the point of having a laugh and a joke with us. Mum really enjoyed looking out of her bedroom window and commenting on what she saw. My email to my family on my second visit was equally glowing. I even noticed my mum talking to other residents in the lounge. Brilliant staff. Well done.
Very pleased with the care from the staff at the home. The food is good, the cleanliness is excellent, and as a family, we have no complaints about the care provided.
The care for my mother has been very good. The staff have all been very friendly and helpful.
We are very happy with the care my grandmother receives. The staff are so friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Activities are organised throughout the week for the residents, and the meals always look good, and a nice clean care home. Would recommend.
Since I arrived over two years ago, I have received first-class care. The staff are attentive and are always cheerful. They saw me through a difficult period a year ago, and I am so grateful to them all.
I have been a resident at Shaftesbury House for several months now. I am very happy with the service I am given. The staff are amazing and treat me more like a friend than a resident. I have a fantastic room, and the manager and her team went above and beyond to move me to a bigger room so I can move myself more freely in my wheelchair. I always have a laugh with the staff and would recommend Shaftesbury House as a great place to live. The food is first class, and the chef will make me whatever I like. We have lots of activities happening, such as fish and chip suppers and pub nights. I am even allowed my dog to visit me.
Mum has been at Shaftesbury for over a year, and they are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble, friendly, helpful, and above all, caring towards her all the time. Marvellous staff, who can’t do enough for her. So pleased she is there and happy and being so well looked after. Thank you.
So reluctant to place mum in a care home but in her best interest, she was lucky to go to Shaftesbury House. This was not on our list but so pleased with her care and support they gave and the family. Mum is so much happier with other residents around her. Loneliness and having dementia was hard for all and now we have peace of mind that she is safe and happy.
Shaftesbury House is simply the best. My mum has been there for 7-weeks, and I can honestly say this is the happiest I have seen her in a long time; she is very content and a lot more upbeat than she was. All the staff are amazing, and they treat my mum with the utmost respect and care for her so very well. The food is amazing with so much choice; I don't think my mum has ever eaten so much. The carers interact with the residents to keep them stimulated and are always on hand for their care requirements. The home itself is lovely - it has a very warm feel to it like a little hotel by the sea, the bedrooms are light and airy and make you feel so calm. The staff are all happy with their work, and the vibes between the residents and staff are very upbeat and happy. I would 100% recommend Shaftesbury House to anyone who needs to place their loved ones. So, thank you to every single member of staff at Shaftesbury House; you're amazing people and are worth your weight in gold for what you do.
When we had to make the hard decision to put Dad in a care home due to his dementia decline, everyone at Shaftesbury House made us feel at ease. The staff are very lovely, and we are very happy with the care Dad has received. If he ever has any issues, they are taken care of in a timely matter. The staff are always willing to listen to any concerns you may have. We can’t thank them enough for the comfort we feel for his care.
I am very happy living at Shaftesbury House. The staff are brilliant and have helped me through a tough time. The carers and managers are very good, and I class them as friends.
My mother was admitted to Shaftesbury Nursing Home in May 2020 after being in hospital since Easter due to her falling downstairs in her flat. At that time she was suffering from the onset of Dementia which has worsened since then. Due to Covid 19, she had to be isolated in her room for 14 days, whenever any member of her family contacted her she would get very distressed and upset and kept wanting us to take her home, which members of the medical profession said she cannot return to. After the isolation period ended she was shown around the home and its facilities, and in time she grew to know the staff and their working routines and to enjoy her new surroundings and level of care. Whenever we phone her now it's very satisfying to hear her say how she loves being there, how lovely all the staff are and how well she's being cared for. We've always found the staff extremely polite, obliging and helpful at all times and we could never praise or thank them enough.
