View Full Details of The WestcliffMy dad has lived at The Westcliff for several years and the staff provide an excellent standard of care. There is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere when I visit, and many activities are laid on to entertain the residents. There always seems to be plenty of staff on hand, and the home is clean and cheerful! Thank you everyone for all your hard work for my dad and all the other residents.
Dad went to live at the Westcliff in April 2022. Mum had passed away in April 2021. Dad was having carers in 4 times a day, as his mobility was not good. Even though as a family we visited regularly, Dad used to say that he felt very lonely and sometimes not safe. So we had a discussion about possibly moving into a Care Home, which Dad had always been against. We did a bit of research into possible homes and we came up with The Westcliff. My Aunt had been a resident and we were told that she had been very happy. So it was arranged for Dad to visit and have lunch there to get a feel of the place and to view a possible room. Which he did, was made to feel very welcome by Staff and Residents alike. Consequently, Dad made the decision to move in. Dad settled down very quickly and soon felt part of the Westcliff family. Entertainment comes in, various games and quizzes are played. Never feel afraid to contact the Home if needed. I feel the Staff do very well in these challenging times.
The staff are all absolutely amazing. I can't fault one bit how helpful and supportive the staff have been. My nanny has settled in nicely and no ask is too big. I feel we are so lucky to have found this care home for her. Thank you everyone.
Mum came to The Westcliff in April 2022 for respite/assessment following a hip operation. She was suffering from post-operative delirium and in very poor health. It quickly became clear that she could not return to her flat and she was offered a permanent place at The Westcliff. The Westcliff is a special place with dedicated, caring staff. Slowly but surely they nursed Mum back to health. The care given by all staff is exemplary and they are all cheerful and friendly. There are different activities going on every day and the residents are encouraged to join in. Often entertainment comes in and there are visits from therapy dogs which Mum loves. It means such a lot to us that Mum is safe and happy and I can honestly say that without the care of the staff at The Westcliff, I am certain Mum would have recovered so well. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Westcliff to anyone and would like to thank everyone for their support.
The hospital found Dad a space at The Westcliff temporarily and when it was decided that he needed to stay and have full-time care we didn't have any doubts that The Westcliff was the best place for him. We cannot praise the home enough he was always cared for with dignity, well fed and kept stimulated with games and entertainment. The staff are very attentive, caring and cheerful and get to know each resident as an individual. The staff have always been welcoming when we visited and very supportive. We found the atmosphere at the home is always cheerful and positive and always plenty of staff on hand. In Dad's last days, it was always comforting to know he was in good hands. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for helping us in this difficult time.
When it became clear my mother-in-law was unable to care for herself and needed 24-hour care, choosing a suitable place for her was a worrying experience, not really knowing what we were letting her in for. We needn’t have worried. The level of care mum receives is excellent. She is well-fed, kept clean and entertained. Activities for the residents are so varied, from baking to painting to visiting singers and much more. Being so near to the town and to the beach, the residents are often taken into town for a coffee and a bite to eat, or taken to a viewing point overlooking the sea. A nice treat during lovely weather. The Westcliff really is a wonderful place. The staff couldn’t be better. They are absolutely wonderful. Mum has dementia and on the odd occasion mum is a bit down, the staff are so attentive, she’s smiling again in no time. Mum has a lot of visitors, and the staff have never complained. Mum has been here almost a year and I would recommend the Westcliff to anyone
My mother had a bad fall and suffered a broken hip, with Mum having problems with her memory, after trying to go back home, it was clear that she needed 24-hour care. Mum was later diagnosed with dementia. I was very concerned about Mum going into a care home, it is not something anyone likes to do. It didn’t take long to see the improvement in Mum's health, the staff there are fantastic, each person is dealt with in a personal and friendly manner. Mum still has her bad days and when this happens the staff seem to pay more attention and soon get Mum smiling again. The location is superb, staff often take the residents out into town and have tea or coffee with a snack. Just a couple of minutes away there is a bench overlooking the sea. I can not fault anything about The Westcliff, they are more like an extended family. Dementia care is one of the hardest areas to care for. Anybody looking for care for their loved ones couldn't go far wrong with Westcliff. Well done to you all.
The standard of care is excellent, the staff are always polite and helpful. There is a high standard of cleanliness throughout the home. I have been living here for 12.5 years and the home is better now than it has ever been. I am very happy and settled.
The Westcliff is close to Felixstowe’s main shops and seafront, with several sea view rooms. There's also a residents' rear garden. Occupants can bring in furniture, furnishings etc to make for homely rooms. My mother was uplifted and revitalised at the Westcliff, and quickly made friends with residents and carers alike; an accolade to the staff. A local doctor told us, in her view, the staff were one of the best two in Felixstowe. My mother frequently identified their support, attention, and enthusiasm of them. They also ran plenty of varied activities for residents, evident on their vibrant Facebook group. The home was always warm and welcoming. Food was freshly cooked, nourishing, and varied, with choices always available. We found staff kind, caring, friendly, compassionate, sensitive and attentive, with a harmonious atmosphere. Requests were handled well and the phone was invariably answered promptly in a warm, friendly way. I'd thoroughly recommend the Westcliff.
We had to find mum a care home quickly and it was during covid time. We couldn't look around so we went by recommendations and The Westcliff was mum's new home. The staff are all lovely and caring, the Managers have always been very helpful and if we had a problem it was promptly sorted. Mum was very happy at The Westcliff.
